The official all year around NFL Thread - Superbowl & Offseason

The rumor right now is that Denver and Arizona are the far and away leading contenders for Manning.

I hear Peyton Manning is not interested in signing with Miami because of how dysfunctional the front office has become; between the GM and owner.

Exactly. Glad someone else sees it, too. I wish our front office was more intelligent personally. They've gotta go. Not to mention the fan-base that Miami has.... Can't stand it, honestly.

Trading away Marsh for 2 3rds when you traded 2 2nds to get him in the first place.

Yeah, that makes a ton of sense right there...

BTW, if you guys were looking to throw a season, you picked the wrong one. Andrew Luck is in the 2012 draft, not the 2013 one.

I'm fairly confident with Manning coming to Miami though. I personally feel that aside from our front office, Manning is likely to come to Miami over the other options.

Marshall has had too many off the field issues. Particularly with his wife. Two days before trading Marshall to the Bears, he was involved in a bar fight having to do with his wife - which hospitalized her. Then was accused of assault after the fact. He's a great player but he's a problem and a distraction. In any sense, it doesn't surprise me that the Bears shown interest with Jay Cutler being reunited with him, though. Should make for a more potent offense and a more up to balance team overall.

I am shocked that SF has decided to enter Peyton Manning's sweep stake.
Supposedly, Manning has told Miami and Seattle that they are eliminated. It's down to SF, Denver, and Titans. The decision will be early in the week; Monday or Tuesday.

Alex Smith, feeling dejected and hurt by SF's betrayal has decided to talk to Miami about signing with them. Oh, the drama in SF!!!
SF sign Manningham.

Nice signing by Patriots; Brandon Lloyd.
Great signing by Bills. Mario Williams will make their defensive line very scary.
Nice solid signing by NO to replace the departed Nicks; Grubbs' departure is going to hurt Ravens.

Wow...no team is trying to sign the restricted FA Mike Wallace, Steelers WR. Yeah it will cost you a first round pick.

No team is that desperate to give up a prized first rounder for Wallace you mean, and the teams that are dumb enough to hand over a first rounder (like say Raiders) have none to give up.

But meh, I still don't like loser Smith, I still say last year was both a fluke on his part and the result of great Harbaugh coaching since they rarely went to Smith to win the game for them. Heck, if the Bengals hadn't gotten Dalton 1 slot higher than the Niners in the 2nd round of last year's draft (whom they really wanted over their pick of Kapernick), probably wouldn't even be having a Smith conversation. Miami I would think would far more likely pick up Flynn before Smith as well, as Smith historically is a loser at QB, and I really doubt he has many suitors; maybe a desperate team like Seattle will talk to him too, but that's no better than them having Tavaris at QB again quite frankly.

More than likely once the Niners don't get Manning (believe me I'm hoping against all odds the Niners sign him despite the far stronger pull from Titans and Broncos likely), Smith will sign with the Niners, you'll have the usual BS press conference and interviews about no hard feelings, and life will resume. Though that then opens up a Tebow or Hasselback sweepstakes since the Broncos/Titans are liable to release their starters then (though I dunno, Tebow could stay since he's probably the only QB on the Bronco's roster atm).

Tebow's not going anywhere. The entire western hemisphere will probably riot if Tebow ends up anywhere except Denver. If Peyton goes there, he'll find some way to teach him how to throw a pass. But Tebow will remain a Bronco through the end of his current contract.

As far as where Peyton will end up, right now, the rumors are between SF, Denver, and Tennessee. I want him on Tennessee, cuz they'll never win anything even with him there.

I truely don't see Manning going to the NFC. Maybe that's just me. I also don't think Manning has any interest in the 49ers after the terrible way Alex Smith was treated after the number of years he's played for them.

I'm hoping for Denver personally. Brady Quinn will dip on Denver if he does. I'm calling it now.

Not too surprised, it was a nice dream of Manning going to the Niners...hope Manning can compete as an outdoor QB, as it gets pretty cold up in the mile high city with no dome...

And how did they treat Smith badly? He bloody sucks! Still can't believe the casual fan bandwagoning for him last year considering the number of horrible years of QB play he's given us...if he does go to the Dolphins, good riddance I say, I have enough faith in Harbaugh to get any other QB to manage a game like Smith did, Smith's only "advantage" was that he at least knew all the players on the team beforehand since he for some odd reason didn't get his butt cut.

Besides, odds are Smith will pick up his contract anyways with the Niners, Dolphins just signed Garrad and he has about zero interest from other teams since no one's quite that desperate (especially since Seahawks picked up Flynn).

I'm hoping Tebow goes to Miami personally. I can't stand the 49ers because of Harbaugh. He's not the kind of coach I'd appreciate having at all.

Apparently Peyton Manning did not want to sign with SF because Harbaugh will not give up control of the offense; ie: give Manning the freedom to call his own plays whenever he wants to.

Considering how hard you were pining for him last year, I find this difficult to believe.

I knew it was a personality issue. I called it.

Sarcasm? I'm not sure what you mean by "pining for him last year."

I'm a huge Tebow supporter... Always have been. I'd LOVE to see Tebow come to Miami.

Edit: Scratch that. He's a Jet now. :(

...eh? What's wrong with Harbaugh? I love the guy already. Besides, main reason Manning went to the Broncos is likely due to it being in the AFC I think. Even if it's an issue of control, well that's something more I'd think Manning would've had to suck up more so, as him being his own OC was pretty much a unique situation to the Colts only, and we all saw how bad that idea is if Manning ever goes down. Though apparently the Broncos are giving him pretty free reign, which isn't that bad of an idea considering Fox is nothing special.

Tebow to the Jets is just pure tabloid fodder fun, not to mention it'll be funny to see the Sanchise deal with calls for Tebow Time every game now.

The Jets franchise is falling apart slowly. They're not sure of what they're even doing anymore. I'm just extremely disappointed that Tebow went to the Jets...

As far as Manning goes. He clearly didn't want to play his former team twice a year being a Titan. He didn't want to be in the NFC and personally, I can see control pushing it over the top already. Miami's poor front office made the deal-breaker there. Especially when combined with crime rate when he has a family to follow.

Denver gave him flexibility and a sense of comfort.

Over/Under
Should Tebow be starting QB of Jets Headlines by Week 4?

Over. Way over. Such as NEVER over.

Oh, are you asking when he will be starting? Under. Week 3.

BTW, the Bears just signed Michael Bush as their #2 RB. This now makes 3 consecutive years the Bears have signed some high-priced backup RB after Chester Taylor (who we're still paying obnoxious monies), and Marion Barber (who I actually liked, Denver game aside). Bush gets a 4 year contract, don't know the terms yet.

Personally if the Sanchise wasn't the overpaid starter, I would think Tebow would've had a good chance to start; Jets like to run the football right? Hand off to Greene/LT/whoever most of the time, Tebow scampers on occasion, and the option read for big pass plays or whatever. If their defense could return to the heights they were at 2 seasons ago, then you don't need to score so much, only enough to just win.

Ok that's just made up nonsense, but still, I'm actually more surprised Tebow gave up a realistic chance to start for the Jaguars to be a backup for the Jets. Especially considering Jacksonville is just about home for him, not to mention that's a ton of visibility and marketing for the team itself.

You have to realize that Sparano is the OC of the Jets, when he once led Miami to an 11-5 season following a 1-15 season that Cam Cameron led us to the previous season abusing the Wildcat.

Tebow seems like a perfect fit for an offense like that - especially with the media hype of New York to combine with Tebowmania and a disfunctional Jets locker room. The only thing I don't see biding well is Rex Ryan's fat mouth.

All that aside and all hate for the Jets aside, I have to give it to them... It's a flip flop situation for me. It could hurt or help them - weighing out the options. The destiny is in their control, it's just a matter of what direction they'll take ultimately as a team. Tebow has the potential, heart and devotion to be successful anywhere. Unfortunately, this isn't a one player league.
