How is it good for the entire game?

Like I and others have said...it makes the best cards available to more players, not just those who can afford them. How in the world is that a bad thing?

Plus tpci will make a ton of money off of these tins.

This is what I wanted to say but couldn't find the words to actually type. It's pretty unfair to the serious players.:nonono:
... so your definition of a serious player is someone who buys the most expensive cards? :nonono:
I'm sorry I can't afford to spend my life savings on Pokémon cards. But I am as serious about this game as anyone else.

Lol life savings? its not THAT expensive its just annoying for the people to buy the expensive cards and then have them plummet in price later

To those who say it is good for all. This is obviously not the case. It is good for MOST players, not ALL. Players get cards cheaper and tcpi gets money. Yay good. The people who bought the cards at 50+''insert currency'' will take a hit. They buy good cards so they buy themselves an advantage in the game. Then everyone gets this advantage so it is bad for those who bought the cards for high prices.

That being said I have spent more than 200$ (when taking the conversion rate into account) for 3 cardboard cards and I believe these tins should be released. It is not good for ME, but it is good for the GAME. I believe it is good for the game for everyone to have access to great cards as that promotes skill.

Point of message: Don't say it is good for everyone.

I guess that depends what you mean when you say fair and unfair and how you look at things. I can understand the people who say it is unfair because they can't win without buying them so they are forced to buy the cards for a high price if they want to win.

Again with that said I think it is fair for everyone to have a fighting chance in the game. This means everyone should have access to every card in the format for a reasonable price and 50+''insert currency'' is not a reasonable price for a cardboard card. This way poor players can still play competitively (I will refrain from using the terms serious and casual players). This means I believe it is fair for these tins to be released.

Oh and thanks for saying that the you was a general you. I would have read it as pointing at me. :p

Can someone define a "serious player" for me?

B/c from the comments I take a "serious player" to be someone who pays 50 bucks for a piece of cardboard instead of borrowing cards at a tournament or going rogue. But I could be wrong......

What I think is great for the game is these great players that can't afford the cards bringing an amazing rogue deck to a tourney and putting it on the map. The more decks that become viable the better and this happens more often when the cards are not readily available. I do not have a darkrai deck but I do have a rogue deck that can win on any given day, and that is what is good for the game, diversity...

I can agree with this. But you (general you) can't say it is unfair to SO CALLED SERIOUS PLAYERS either. No one forces anyone to buy cards at inflated prices. People choose to do that.

Being a serious player means playing to win. See: http://www.sirlin.net/ptw

Part of being a serious players is acquiring whatever cards you need to build whatever you think gives you the best shot at winning. By definition, serious players are forced to get the cards they need for big events.

You don't have to buy them (I borrowed 22 cards for a deck for a recent BR.) Someone has to get them though, and sometimes there just aren't any around to borrow. On average, competitive players end up paying more for these cards. That's fine.

I want every player to have access to every card. This game shouldn't be about which player can get which card. Among competitive players, it usually isn't an issue. See: http://thetopcut.net/2012/02/18/scrub-player-syndrome-they-wont-have-those-cards/

The problem here lies in when the tins come out. By having tins with chase cards come out after big events, the players who paid for the cards before the event are punished for it. The players who waited for the tins didn't have the cards for the big events.

That's why I suggested that tins with chase cards should come out before big events. Competitive players don't get hit in the wallet. Casual players get access to the cards they need. Store sell TONS of tins. More people win.

I wonder how well DEX boosters would sell if everyone knew that the best cards in the set were coming out in tins very shortly after the boosters and before all the big events?

You don't have to buy them

Thank you.

DEX wasa great set. Darkrai is good, but its not the sets only card. NEX on the other hand, was saved by Mewtwo entirely, though a few other exs were meh.

For everyone who doubted the credibility of my source, myself, and/or in some cases those who attempted to make me look malicious (not that I blame anyone, really), I can confirm that the tins are indeed what I confirmed them to be (albeit prematurely) last week. Just this morning, I saw the final designs pertaining to the three tins, which I will not be able to reveal to everyone until an explicit embargo has lifted (and yes, this time I have been told when exactly to release the images, directly from my reliable connection at TPCi).

I will be revealing the tins later this week on both my YouTube channel and Facebook page, simultaneously.

Additionally, I have been given the go-ahead to unveil some images later today also.

Thought I would keep you guys informed :)

Thank you.

You are not getting it. Someone has to buy the cards in the first place. I'm not even getting into the "fairness" aspect of this argument but you seem to fail at understanding why this is making people upset. In order to WIN at ANY game, you must strive to be the best at it. Whether this means honing your physical or mental skills, to working out everyday of your life, or buying the most expensive cards for your deck. This is true for any game, It has been stated multiple times he meant serious in this aspect. So it IS TRUE that you MUST spend a crapton of money to try and be the best at this game. There is no way around it, But the fact still remains that someone has to buy/obtain (though pulling every card you need in packs is ludicrous to even consider and still is spending a lot of money) the needed cards to do so. It is ridiculous to think that you can borrow every card you need for a premier event, when most people who have the needed cards bought them for a reason and are most likely using said cards themselves. So your argument of, you don't have to pay just borrow, doesn't hold much water at all in this argument. And there is nothing wrong in being upset or even angry that you have sunk a lot of money, though you chose to, in something that rather quickly becomes tremendously devalued. It would be the same feeling as you buying a 3DS today and next week they announce a new model with a built-in HDD and two actual thumbsticks and comes is a sweet design and costs less. You'd be pissed.

That comparison really doesn't work. It is going to be the same card, it will do the same thing (just at a cheaper cost to get). Unless they get changed to do double the damage for less of an attack cost. Then it would get my attention like you suggest.

I said feeling not the same thing, and it was more or less a satirical jab at Nintendo for their hindsight.

HerpTheDerp,

Players' cards drop in value every year b/c of rotation. New cards come out and other cards drop in value (Yanmega anyone?)

Where's the whining about that?

Why would I want a mobile device with a spinning drive in it? That'd scratch really easily. I'd want an SSD in that thing!

Anyways, in case anyone is still (somehow) doubting PkC, Grosnor is listing the fall tins, so if they put the images up first, and it confirms what PkC said, all shall be settled.
