DumbleDONE?????

*shock horror* Dumbledore's ***!?

Meh.
Cry me a river
Build a bridge
Get over it

What's wrong with a chacater in a fictional series being ***? In fact, what's wrong with being ***? People can choose their sexuality if they want.

*agrees with Matais and luka84* Although why she would need to give the books more publicity than they already have as she's sitting on one huge pile of money already.

Just because it doesn't matter to you doesn't mean that it doesn't matter to anyone else.

There's fanfiction for both, disturbingly enough. Rule 34 would state that there's fanfiction for both at once as well.

My roommate's Halo 3 service number is R34 for a reason. Heck, I sell R34 for a LIVING.

No, people can't choose their sexuality. As amusing as it'd be to be faced with that questionnaire... "So, Johnny, do you want to be ***, straight, or bi?"

This is just IMHO. Sexuality is a specturm. Most folks tend to fall near one of the poles but there are plenty of folks all along the line between them. Some folks don't get to choose & others do. This isn't a black and white thing like the media seems to push. There are many shades of gray.

As for Dumbledore ... it makes perfect sense to me and doesn't bother me a bit.

JK is going to catch a lot of flack for this from some quarters though.

I think Rowling underestimates the power of fanfiction.

I think everyone underestimates it... because it just doesn't matter.

Honestly, I hated the fact that she revealed this. It doesn't bear any relevance to the plot, and it's just going to give misguided Christians even more ammunition against the series. Lame.

I'm sorry, but you really shouldn't state that as fact when it clearly isn't. And, it isn't a particularly amusing topic either.

Sexuality is a complex topic, and the sociological and (possibly) genetic determinators (and consequences) are only just being worked out. The honest fact is, we don't know how sexuality works. What I do know is, people can choose their sexuality (to some extent).

The concept is known as fluid sexuality, but these terms change often, so it might be called something else now.

Sorry if you feel like I'm singling you out... it's just that your comment seemed to be the easiest to correct.

you're an idiot if you think that. people don't choose their sexuality. if you ever had to "decide" you like girls, then you're probably ***.

No matter in what time period, I always saw Dumbledore as 95 like he is in the movies, so the idea of him falling in love with ANYONE is a tad gross.

Well I'm pretty sure Rowling was trying to make a point by coming out of the closet for him. With such a high power in that world being *** that teaches people something? Someone figure out the point of this I KNOW there's a point to this.

1- homosexual people doesnt deserve to be loved?Where did I ever say that kid? I know tons of *** guys, I am friends with COlin M. and u guys know his story:lol:
2- you do mind about people being *** or not and thats shown by the simple fact of posting this thread.I made this thread because I wanted other opinions on this matter, I saw the interview on T.V. and when she sad that the were TONS of awws in the crowd.
3- Rowling needs to keep the Potter-torch alive for a couple more years, even if it has to be done thru controversy. This doesn't keep the Potter Torch alive at all, that would be the movies!!!
4- I'm a loyal fan ever since the "stone" came out and I am nor disapponinted.
5- Again, marketing = $
6- Sexuality is present on every book, you should find a better term to define your though on that.what does it matter if I make a 19 letter word or say the word that has the same meaning????
7- If laking of common sense means you can succeed on what you like and want, take it all away from me
8- Rowling doesn't care about movies as much as most of us think.Your right, in a way but, she makes money of the movies!!!
Plus the series is over with so the movies will kepp her somewhat in-contact with Harry Potter genre

9- Good luck!:thumb:

Also, this thread is about Dumbledore being ***, not Homosexuality in general!!!!

i like him even more now. i bet he saw himself with grindelwald in the mirror. he's more loveable now that i know i COULD have made out with him.

I agree here, it seemed to me more of a forced thing if anything. I mean granted, the book never goes into detail about Dumbledore's personal life till the final book, but if he's ***, so what? That doesn't have any relevence to the plot at all, except to now encourage weird people to think odd thoughts about Harry's and Dumbledore's time together.

I know from ****ing experience (no pun intended). What's your excuse for being a pretentious know-it-all?

I'm sorry, just because it's your experience that you can't control your sexuality, that must mean that everyone else who says that they can must be a liar.

Being a pretentious know-it-all would be making glib comebacks to posts. Trying to correct a commonly held belief is not. See the difference?

Whether you like it or not, some people can control their sexuality. Yes, the question is why would you ever want to, but then that's a different ballgame altogether.

Stop trying to enforce your viewpoint as the only valid one, especially when academic research has shown that you are in fact wrong.

It's sad that so many people would think that. Just because someone is ***, doesn't mean he is going to jump every man he sees. I think Rowling was trying to positively contribute to eliminating prejudice, but in the most stupid way possible. So yes, I agree with this.

Or it was a cheap publicity stunt. But in todays day and age, they're probably the same thing.
