Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

2009 Masters World Champion Report!

4 Night Maintenances? Is that normal for a Beedrill? I would think more than 2 is dead space.

Yes, quite standard. You must have 3-4 Bees out down to the last prize card, unlike all other decks which can have 1-2 attackers for the endgame.

respect, great list. honestly when i found out that you were playing luxray with the beedrill i was shocked at how its consistent but you managed to make it work out and played a great tourney. The 6 energy is kinda ballzy, but it paid off. Also glad you made the last minute switch to Chatot. good work kiddo, i really didnt want to dress up as George Washington for 2010 lol.
Ignore the crap i was saying earlier, because it was only because I thought you were playing straight speedrill

Are you the Florida player who drove up here to Louisiana for states and beat everyone's face, or am I thinking of the wrong person?

With Beedrill, it's 4 or none. You absolutely need to recover as fast as you can so you can consistently deal your 120. I was wondering if you played Poké Turn over SSU in your build, I guess I was right. I knew Beedrill was a great play. I heard about your Luxray tech in this at Nationals, I never got around to testing it in my build. Good job.

Wow... just wow!

It has been a pleasure watching you grow and develop into the World Champion. A bunch of Bumps along the way, but you stuck to it and prevailed!! Wish I coulda been there just to see the look on your Dad's face!!

You are deserving and through all the testing you have done, even more so in a Hostiel environment as any deck can prove to be Great!!

Enjoy the year and know you get to go to Hawaii next year!!

Congrats Sir!!

Wow, thanks everyone so much. Really, it means so much to me.

4 NM is standard in any beedrill, especially this one, because then I can let luxray get KOd and get another bright look out of it.

Pinser52, thats me.

It was awesome to watch you win Worlds Steve.

You are a very deserving and humble Champion. A true Players Champion!!

Congrats to you and John both. I think it was harder for him to watch than it was for you to play.

GREAT JOB!!!!!!!!!!!

Awesome job Stevie, taking it home for Lafonte and Florida-way to go. Remember what you said Saturday morning....might have to take you up on that offer! :p

Congrats, dude, really, you're a great player and truly deserve it.

big congrats to you man! You probably don't know who I am, but I still feel i have to congratulate you on this completely awesome and original list. Nobody saw it coming! Keep up the good work as one of the U.S's most renowned players, and keep making awesome decklists like this one!

So much for me being the better playing Silvestro I guess hey Stevie?? ;)

I have my moments, but YOU have been the best in this family since we started. You play at a level I ( or very few)have yet to reach son.

Nobody deserves this more and I can't express how proud of you I am or how much i love you kid.

You tweak a deck like nobody else to near perfection, spend HOURS with me, Aaron and Jim testing it ,learning your match-ups and you didn't let me ( or anyone else ) talk you out of playing it. That ladies and gentlemen is what you do to excell at Pokemon!!!

You did the same thing with our bug deck, but unlike that deck this one was pretty much all
Stevie( with a little help from aaron and Jim).

All the trips, all the miles and memories, then you go and win worlds!!!! WOW!

Take a bow sir- your have definately earned it!!!

I love you,

Dad

CONGRATS!!!!! STEPHEN WAY TO GO!!!!!!!!!!

Just wanted to says, John both you and your son are two of the best players Pokemon has ever had. Both of you are great representatives of Pokemon. Brandon (4TH place Seniors-FL)and I both enjoyed playing with you at the Florida State tournament and when you came up and played at the Ga Regional. ( I was the Judge at the Ga Regional that traded the Staff cards to you for the Regional Dice). I always look forward to seeing both of you at Tournaments.
Look forward to seeing both of you soon!!!

Congrats on winning worlds with that surprising deck!! I hope to meet and play against you in the future. Our battle will be legendary!! You totally deserve the win with the skill and the time you put into your deck. I like to come up with my own ideas and mix strategies just like you and I never copy lists so I wont be playing yours. Good luck next season, you're going to need it because everyone will be gunning for you.

One more thing...... U.! S.! A.!, U.! S.! A.!, U.! S.! A.!, U.! S.! A.!

Man, I should've got your autograph when I had a chance! I guess you were right when you said I wouldn't stand a chance at a Florida tournament :frown:

Anyway, grats on winning, and especially with Beedrill, and ESPECIALLY on a totally original Beedrill.

I need to flutter wings to basically win the game. I know that he has one power spray left and it's in his hand. I use roseanne for weedle and azelf. I "debate" putting the azelf down. I then ask "Flutter Wings?" he allows it. I get a band attack beedrill (I have 3 in play). Try to use Azelf and he power sprays. I smile so big and tell him "there wasn't a beedrill in there".

My jaw almost hit the FLOOR when I read that.

That has got to be the most beautiful play I have ever heard of.

Good job. You deserve this achievement.

Steve I always said you were the best player I knew. I know we have our issues but I really want to give you the congrats you deserve for your well earned victory. See ya in Hawaii.

BLiZz

Congratulations! I never expected that Beedrill would win Worlds, but I suppose that this is one of those times that I should've expected the unexpected. You are, officially, "THE guy to beat" until Worlds 2010 in Hawaii. Hope I make it there and if I do, I'll seek you out and ask you to sign my Beedrill (RR).
