Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

2009 US Nationals

I would remind everyone that Nats is a HUGE event with a LOT of work. I wouldn't dream of posting standings here at such an event. The event comes first. That hive right now will have a million things to do, and this isn't a 50 or even 100 player nats like in europe. They'll have that many players per round with incorrectlly filled out match slips! :)
They got the best crew in the world back there, let the hive do what they were hired to do!
No food? well, there's one advantage Origins had! ( dreaming of North Market......)

estimates follow....
R0: 340
R1: 170-170
R2: 85-170-85
R3: 42-128-128-42
R4: 21-85-128-85-21
R5: 11-53-106-106-53-11
R6: 6-32-79-106-79-32-6
R7: 3-19-56-92-92-56-19-3
R8: 2-11-37-74-92-74-37-22-1

T64 cut
2x 8-0
11x 7-1
37x 6-2
14x 5-3s

Listen, I'm with everyone else I'd love to see the standing also but guys be realistic - if you've ever attended Nat's or Worlds then you'll understand just how busy the staff and judges are - TOM can be a pain sometimes and needs patience to run any tourney...plus being this is the first year we're holding Nat's in St Louis, things are going to be a work in progress for everyone including the players. Hang in there, I'm sure when someone has a moment they'll update all of us at home on the situation.

So with that said, thanks for the updates - it's appreciated..props to fellow staff/judges this weekend!

Go Nick "Nitro" Blaze in Seniors - and my fellow Blaze Family!!

I can report (and you can view it, by searching #uspokenats09 on search.twitter.com) that Graham Poteet is 1-1 right now.

Twitter also tells me that Jessica Rankin is 0-1.

(If either of these two contestants would prefer I didn't post this here, I'll remove them, and I apologize. I figure that because it was tweeted it was meant to be public knowledge, though).

Rocketman, since I know very well the first thing to do is to RUN the event I offered to do the standings (adjust them for publishing).

I did it last year, and I should have asked days ago if it was possible to do something this year again.
Sorry I had some other things on my mind last week, but today (and tonight) I have time to help out.
Even if I would be able to post with a 1 round delay (so after round2 has started, receiving the details for round 1 to work on).

Just because the people in-at the Hive has a million things to do, using a little outside help could do a big group of home stayers-international folks a big favor.

4-6k? lol

thats 1100 ish ppl playing and there going to have to spend more once you figure Staffing and Parents etc figure each person truely spending like 15-30 a meal too depending on what you get lol

Off-topic, but I find it pretty odd that no restaurants are open in downtown STL on the weekends. Weird. Hopefully everyone can find food easily and efficiently.

@The_Lurb - I may be speaking out of turn as I have absolutely no idea, but I can assume it has something to do with time constraints.

Hey I'm told there's a few places but not close by...they're a hike and the vendor at the convention center is pricey with limited options. It's too bad this new convention center doesn't have a food court like the one at Origins...the PBJ place was the BEST :)

kwisdumb: If it has to do with time constraints then they should wait to run all of the top cut matches until tomorrow. I know if I went 8-0 in swiss then got donked my first top cut match, I would be extremely upset.

@The_Lurb - That's a fair criticism. I was just throwing out ideas. As I said, I dunno if that's even close to the real reason for that decision.

This just in from Facebook

Omar I. went 0-1 drop after being donked by Machamp.

The rest of the Team R team is 1-0 so far, all playing GG.
