Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

6 AWESOME Virginia Battle Roads!

Wasn't aware he was going...
Perhaps if I was driving, I'd make the feat, but the more I ask for rides from my mom the less likely I'll be able to trek to some bigger events.

I wasn't aware I was going either! Fairfax happens to be on visit the reason I was late to the prerelease weekend, weekend soooo yeah.

I don't think you'll find many Cities with 70 players. This battle road will have that!

Mini-report:
Played Gengar [SF] with Garchomp C

1: Gengar/Vilplume, lost.
2: Evee Deck, won.
3: Gengar/Nidoqueen, won.
4: Jumpluff + Vileplume, won.
5: Scizor Prime. lost
6: Umbreon Prime, won.

4-2, 9th place

-The tournament ran smoothly, with little time between rounds
-30 minutes + 3 turns, love the new system!
-Ryan S, for giving me the best match I've had in a long time. He was playing Gengar/Nidoqueen with Spiritomb. At the beginning of the game, I KO'd one Spiritomb with my active Garchomp C. Then, he sent up another Spiritomb. He had a Nidoqueen on the bench. I sent up my Azelf and did "Lock Up".

He was unable to retreat the Spiritomb because of Lock Up. The 20 damage from Lock up was undone every time, from Nidoqueen's PokeBody. So, I did nothing but Lock Up repeatedly, while he did nothing. We continued this until he drew his entire deck, and then played Looker's, and drew 1 card. But anyway, time was called, and I won, being one prize ahead.

Final tally in Fairfax was 72 (!) Masters went 6 rounds swiss and the top 4 cut did keep a 5-1 player out of top cut (sorry A!) Crazy busy fun day; enjoying a bit of rest halfway down 29 toward Cville. Congrats to Joseph M, Jimmy P, and Luke R for taking the first "new" Victory Medals!

See some of you guys tomorrow in Mr. Jefferson's town!!

35 here in C'ville. Not bad, considering we had 20 exactly 1 year ago. Hmm, that's 75% growth in 1 year!!

Congrats to Jonathan C, Jimmy P (again!!), and Alex L for taking Charlottesville BR. Next weekend is an "off" weekend for me, but we'll be back in Warrenton and Midlo the following weekend!!!

You Guys Rock!

AWESOME Turnout and Growth Mr. T!!! Wish I could have made it. We saw a few Virginians in Leonardtowne today great to see everyone. I hope to see you in Warrenton!

This may be an odd place to ask, but all solid colors of Dragonshield sleeves are legal at tournaments, right? I need to buy some sleeves so I can stop asking other people for theirs (thanks Luke).

As long as there isn't anything weird like a noticeable color shift within your set of 60, I have no probs at all with Dragonshields.

SuperWooper, I find the KMC sleeves are better than Dragonshield.

The best colors I've used are Pearl White and Mat Red. Gray is also very good. Super Blue was very bad. I've bought other colors but I haven't tried them yet.

Mr. Tuskey - Are color shifts a common occurrence in Dragon Shield 100-packs?

Tim - Amazon is sold out of White and Red KMCs. Also, I've twice been told to re-sleeve when I played with their black sleeves (once at Nationals, in the middle of swiss), so I'm not too inclined to give them any more of my money. Thank you, though.

I've not seen them personally, but when "official" Ultra Pro pokemon sleeves have had this problem, I just need to cover all the bases. But, I love Dragonshields, although their quality (so I hear) has dropped somewhat lately. They are shiny/glossy, of course, but this is NOT the "mirror-like" finish that P!P is opposed to.
I did deck check some great looking matte finish sleeves this past weekend, but didn't ask the players what brand they were.

Sorry to get off-topic. Back to the Warrenton/Midlo/ discussion!!

I've always used Ultra-Pro Deck Protector sleeves, and so far have had no problems with them. The quality is good, and I rarely find any color shifts. I generally use Solid Sunset Pink (not everyone's color of choice, I am sure), but have also used black, yellow, red, green and white with no problem. Fairly affordable and they hold up on the kids decks rather well.

*and now back to the topic* Still trying to talk the hubby into making an appearance at Warrenton....You know Alex is all for it...lol. He is eager to try for first again.....lol

Yeah. Team Washington will be re-activated this weekend. We've given you a couple of weeks to practice and tweek. Now you'll be competitive enough for us :p

^^ that one made ya laugh so hard it hurt didn't it? ^^

You should be fine for BRs using Dragon Shields regardless of color.

Dragon Shields are rediculously durable and reliable. We've bought and used just about ALL brands of sleeves and colors. (we order them in bulk for league kids since we don't have a store)

I can tell you from experience that Dragon Shields are sleeves that simply... last. Sure, some will break like any other brand, but I have used DragSh. sleeves that I can redeck and use STILL (after 2 years of playtesting and tournament use). At Battle Roads, the deck checks won't be anywhere NEAR as picky to boot new Dragon Sheild sleeves. (what event is??)

I'm still struggling to make WubbaWubba.dek. They rotated out the DP wobbefet, so I guess I'll play something that is remotely competitive instead :/

Ha! Well, I know for a fact that you won't win at both Warrenton and at Midlo, Mr. RA!!

...Holy Tauros, Warrenton is here at last!! See everyone tomorrow!!!

2- Garchomp C: won

-The tournament ran smoothly, with little time between rounds
-I am still loving this 30 minutes + 3 turns system!
-Booster draft after, thanks Tim!
-Overhearing a conversation between a player that pirated a Pokémon video game, and a player that confronted him
-Johnny's one power spray in his deck that stopped a Flash Bite that would have allowed me to draw all 6 of my prizes

Slops
-Espeon UD is really bad to go against when your Pokemon in a booster draft generally don't do more than 40 damage.
