Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

A very interesting format is on the rise

Why on earth has nobody brought up absol???

Because people on this board seem to like the flashy stage 2s instead of the incredibly interesting stage ones and basics, same reason why people didn't like ambush, until it almost won nats. It's not flashy =\

Few folks knew about ambush until nationals. lol.

Anyway there seems to be plenty of interest in stage 1s. In fact that's mostly what folks have been talking about to this point. Blissey, Mismagius/Mime, Kricktune, Prinplup (repeatedly noted as being one of the best parts of an Empoleon based deck), Lucario, etc. Now there is a lot of discussion about Banette, Donphan, Breelom, Honcrow, and such.

Gallade is the only stage 2 getting a lot of hype right now and that's mostly due to Tego's reports of it being the Blissey killer. Hardly anyone is talking about Gardevoir or Flygon at all for instance though both look to be pretty good. Heck even Monarchy isn't getting much talk now.

Dugtrio will see play too. Call me nuts, but with all the sniping, people will be using a few of the CG, and it ain't hard to use that SW one too if you feel a bit lucky.

Speaking of Wormadam, the trash coat one with buffer pieces and possibly Quagsire d can be pretty good. Not to mention the -10 from metal. I havent tested it yet, but it sounds good. =/

My favorite cards are Bannete and Absol. I havent really looked too far into the set yet, but Bannete is so much faster than Kricketune in the fact that it just sets itself up for a KO and takes advantage. Absol makes me want to punch the opponent, even when said opponent is myself. (I actually flipped a table once, but thats just me XD)

As for the great Bannete vs Gallade debate, I'd say its 50/50. It all depends on draw. Sure Bannete needs a stadium to one hit KO Gallade, but with ascension Shuppet Ralts might not get the chance.

I think that we all need to wait and see what cities has to offer before we make any assumptions on the "best card" though.

Anybody that says the Banette/Gallade matchup is 50/50 either has a bad Banette list or hasn't tested the matchup. In my testing Gallade is winless against Banette.

WHOA, I too have played 5-6 games with Bannete vs Gallade, winning all but one. I was just trying to be fair and avoid being bashed...

I think psychic decks r going to control this season.. look at the possiblitties
Gardy/Gallade
Bannette
Flygod (or Flygon ex D as most ppl know him)
I think Bannette may be the play this season like Banette ex was last season and it's not too hard to get out either all u need to do is t2 rush and TVR or Adventurer...however there are some cards in this set I really want to play
Nidoking (in the right deck I can see this card to be a monster)
Krow X ( a Very nice addition to the Krow swarm deck)
Blastiose (I have one idea but the end the turn could hurt it.)
