By the time we'll get that card any special energy except for DCE and Prism (which are both overpowered) and darkness/metal should be rotated. Imo its a good thing that players have to watch which special energy to use and to discard (Juniper etc).

Countering Mewtwo isn't that important imo. While a format killer right now, Mewtwo shouldn't be a problem when cards like Rayquaza EX are there... which itself will become the new "card to beat" (just a prediction).

where'd you get this card scan from, i can't find it on beach(maybe i'm dumb though) but yeah this card just beats a dead horse, even Darkrai EX gives Mewtwo a pain and Rayquaza immediately becomes the new BCIF when it comes out so I don't see this as too relevant tbh.

I provided a link to the Bulbapedia page in the first post.

Sites other than PokeBeach are available y'know.

A very interesting card to counter Mewtwo. My interest is officially piqued. First attack has synergy with crushing and crashing hammer. Has the potential to ohko mewtwo, and adds to a very short list of current worthwhile cheap attacks. Conversely, it is a stage 1, which just plain ol' means it has to sit around for a turn doing not much(and it's a tech, not a main attacker). This can't be underestimated. Especially when the basic is easily ko'd by those high-power basics that abuse the energy it exploits. And it will have weakness to dark, which will only be played more by the time this is seen with an English text.
And Mario, while bulbapedia is an amazing site with literally TONS of useful Pokemon information(I use it often), it's just not quite as user friendly as pokebeach. You usually have more to sift through to get to the desired info. But thank you for mining the data for us. As always, it is appreciated.

I'm personally trying my best to make Bulbapedia one of the best sites for TCG information. If you have any suggestions, please tell me (through PM or something). I know that there are issues, and I do have plans to fix some of them. But, all ideas are useful.

Front page updates would be nice...

It looks great, but at the same time I think it will only fine tune the metagame we already know. I thought decks that focused on Mewtwo EX ran Celebi Prime, a card that counters Evolved Pokemon.

Decks that were toying with using Prism Energy to splash in off-type Pokemon might reconsider when this hits, but even if a deck is running four Special Energy, that is four cards out of 60. If you're not combining this with mill (Durant?) to make sure as much Special Energy is hitting the discard as possible, 50 for 1 is good and 100 for 1 is great, but the average deck falls back on something like Reshiram, Zekrom, etc. and OHKOs Drifblim (or Drifloon waiting to Evolve).

Yes, I realize you can use the new Crash Hammer to discard Special Energy cards in play... that's just it. Once this hits, unless everyone is convinced it isn't a threat, they'll dial back on Special Energy in the overall build and play/discard it more carefully. They won't let a Special Energy hit the discard without your help... and if you're only seeing a Special Energy hit the opponent's discard once-per-turn (which is actually quite a bit) then that same opponent has four turns before Drifblim can OHKO anything currently seeing play.

First turn Drifblim isn't even in play, and you'll probably need to bench two Drifloon (or some bait to make your opponent spare a single). If you're lucky Drifblim comes out the gate swinging for 50 or maybe even 100, but 200 is only happening against decks that run almost only Special Energy. It specifies Special Energy card, so a Double Colorless Energy in the discard is just worth 50 points of damage.

With our current damage yields, this means about three turn (possibly more) of a Reshiram or Zekrom racking up OHKOs. I guess it really depends on if a deck built around it can be made sustainable, and decks not built around it can handle the strain of fitting it in and making it work.

I suppose me being skeptical is actually a benefit for it, stuff I like tends to struggle more. XD

Well, I know at least some of us understand that.

Emphasis added.

If you aren't building a deck around it and instead are slipping it into something else, how many do you run? If you run a 1-1 line, without protection or a distraction Drifloon won't survive long enough to Evolve. Even a 2-1 line isn't very promising: you may OHKO a single Mewtwo EX, but Mewtwo EX will almost always be run alongside something that can answer back for it. You'll get a quick two Prizes and be rid of one Mewtwo EX, and for some decks that will be worth three or four card slots.

If you go over a 2-2 line, it basically is a part of the deck. XD Maybe I am underestimating its potential as a universal cleaner though. Hmm.

Yeah, I agree more or less, I still love Drifblim and I'm going to play this no matter what. xD

Running it as a back-up line really might be the true use, and being so good against Pokemon EX an important bonus. Counting on having two Special Energy in the discard early game just to counter Mewtwo EX makes me anxious, but if I can make room for four slots (or even two, in which case it is more to bluff) expecting two or even three Special Energy in the discard late game is pretty reasonable. I mean by then, if the rest of your deck is working you should have KOed enough Pokemon for that.

I was looking at Drifblim as a late game tech also, playing Drifblim in the first 5 turns is usually a bad idea unless you can catcher something with 2 or more retreat and make them waste a DCE to retreat.
We'll see though, we'll see.
