Denise Barlock took the 15+ with Muk EX.

My report:

I was running Vileplume EX, thanks to a Gary, who is a great Georgia pal.

First Round - Blaziken:
Good match, battle frontier lock won the game tho.

Second Round - Muk EX:
Yeah, shut down my Jirachi and my Vileplume and my Bellossom. Easy loss.

Third Round - Gardevior EX:
Yeah, psychic weakness. Easy loss.

Fourth Round - Muk EX Varient:
Eh, same thing here. Easy loss.

Fifth Round - Gengar EX:
Wow, more psychic. Good game but loss in the end thanks to the constant 100's from Gengar EX.

Sixth Round - Raichu EX:
It was an alright game, but VileEX just easily KO'd 2 rayquaza with 2 crystal shard.

So, because of psychic and because of Muk, my deck totally flopped. It was not a good choice to run ANYTHING weak to psychic at this Gym Challenge. Jacy Sturkie ran Muk EX and ran into 3 psychic decks. My friend David ran Muk EX and ran into psychic decks. It was cwazy!

Go Kevin for doing so well in the tournament! Congrats to Denise of course, Jim, Stephanie, and everyone else who made the top 16.

I will say that the store was awesome and it would be awesome to go back another day.

It was a tough final against Patrick (rock-lock)... Patrick is such a GREAT player and person!!!!! Can't wait to see you again in Ohio!

once again i coulndt make another event...I had planned the whole trip out till....Bobby Valention decided to show up in jacksonville but thats alright cause i'll be in ohio and lucky me we(my radio station) have all access to the event thanks to my friends at the greatest rock station ever 105 rules! Party in my hotel room!!!

Jim mized again. How's about getting my third consecutive third place finish after the first place finish two weeks ago? Broken. Denise beat me in the T4, and went on to win. Congratulations to her. I also wanna offer huge props to my man, Patrick W. Seriously, for a player who hasn't been playing for even a year yet, you play as if you've playing a vet for years. Truly amazing. I hope that you can come to Nationals. It will be a blast with you there. I wished you and Denise could have both won. BUT, you BEAT my GIRL. How DARE you? :) Just messing. You proved to me that you aint no holla back girl.

Thanks to everyone who came, it was a blast. Props to Jeff for hosting such an awesome event, like always. NC/SC wouldn't be much without the Reynolds family. I also want to show my deep appreciation to Jake Burt. Thanks so much, man.

I ran muk, so did Denise and we both got into the top cut. I think it's the difference in decks mostly, I was looking at the other muks and most of them weren't pretty good.

for example:
dunsparce in muk? no..

I honestly would have to disagree with that. Did you play another Muk EX or psychic deck? Denise told me about her facing Randy with Gardevior and said her Muk's were getting beat by Ralts. I feel it was all about the deck matchups. I couldn't help that my VileEX was taken down by 2 psychic decks and 2 Muk EX decks.

I honestly feel VileEX is a horrible deck though now. It works against Rock-lock and maybe DragTrode, but if you never face them, your in a hole without a ladder.

Yeah, I had a mirror in the top cut, and faced a gardy in the swiss. He top decked a boost, otherwise I would have won.

If the deck can't handle weakness... then there's a problem with the player/list.

Blaze can beat any water deck, just from skill and manipulation, rocklock can still beat a muk deck. If the muk deck has the right disable(ER2/reversals/gyms/taunt grimers) you can still beat the decks. Facing a gardy with muk isn't a shut-out, it's a challenge. Every deck has its weaknesses, but you have to learn to beat the weaknesses...

And muk vs dragonite is NOT an easy battle. Even with shards a good draggy list should win, even seena agrees.

I didn't say anything about Muk vs Dragonite. Please re-read my posts.

Your examples don't really apply that well. Rock-Lock and Blaziken are major decks and many decks aren't as good as those 2 are. Those can defeat their weaknesses, while a Medicham EX deck might not be able to. Denise ran no protection from psychic weakness, and she took the whole tournament. You don't have to be able to handle weakness, if your lucky enough not to play it. My luck was just bad and I ran into weakness twice and got shutdown twice.

Thankfully this October, Blaze, Gardy, Slaking, Magma, Muk, Rock-Lock (very good chance), and a good number of other decks will be rotated out.

I hope they don't get rotated out. Is TATM getting rotated out? Becuase firestarter is also in the ex trainer kit, unless that gets rotated out, it's still legal for play..

and when i say handle weakness, i don't mean play cards to beat it, i mean be able to maneurver through it and beat it. and muk should be able to do that with the right list, player, and a few good flips.

Great GC. I had loads of fun. I even got to play the modest Jim Ferrel! Also what a great turnout of trainers. I made lots of friends this weekend. Mostly because pokemon is about friendship ;p
