Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Any word on the vendorsat US Nats?

The only thing I really am big on is have 2 Vendors minimum, players needing cards ASAP and no compeition for a vendor means thing are going to get ugly. Last year at Nationals for yugioh they had 10 Vendors everything was priced fair because if it wasn't everybody would just go somewhere else. I actually got quite a few great deals, where prices were below ebay. I really don't see the problem with having 10+Vendors at these events.

I think the main problem with GG a couple years ago was this exactly. No competition. They had some INCREDIBLE stuff there that wasn't Pokemon related, and I made out like a bandit for my Raffle prizes that year. But there not being any competition meant they could rip kids like crazy, like their $55 Flygon LvX and other such ridiculous sales.

More vendors can only mean good things for the event (not necessarily for the vendors, though). 2 was fine for last year, but more would be better considering that the game has continued to grow since then, and there were still lines at virtually all times during the weekend.

I had heard there were supposed to be three last year, but one backed out at the last minute. As all the vendors went through an extensive RFP process, there probably wasn't time to solicit a replacement.

For what it's worth, looks like T&T opened a ton of boxes. They have over 50 full-art Reshiram and Zekrom for sale, and 29 Pikachu! When you have that kind of inventory, you sell it for whatever you think people will buy it for, even yes undercutting the competition. They have a large business, so they can sustain themselves with lower margins on these things if they want.

Like it or not, it's just a free market in action. 26x Luxray GL Lv X for $19.99 for instance.

Let's compare to someone else....Gathering Ground. Mid last week, I ordered 4x Yanmega Prime for $6.50 each. Paid immediately via PayPal. Just got email this morning that they refunded my money because they didn't actually have it in stock....meaning their Web site doesn't reflect accurate inventory information. Looking at Yanmega Prime on their site today, it's listed at $10.99 now!

I had the exact same experience with GG. When Spiritomb (Arceus) came out, they advertised for $2.99. I bought 4, then when they realized the demand, they changed the price on their web site to $7.99 and refused to fill my order for more than 2 months until I cancelled it and asked for my money back. I will never do business with Gathering Grounds again.

Re: #2, I can confirm that they didn't want to buy my Darkrai Professor playmats for the price posted on their buylist. From what I understood at the time, part of the reason could be because they hire people to staff a convention like Pokemon Nationals and they are essentially middlemen who need to create their cut of the profits. (I may be totally wrong on this, that's just what I heard at the time.)

#1 is a supply and demand thing, because they were seriously busy during Nationals. It's a free market in action. But that is just bad customer service which does happen, especially if someone on their end deleted the message.

I don't have experience re: #3. Thanks for the heads up.

CollectorsCache was nothing more than wonderful last year at Nats.

Troll and Toad... hmmm...

1. Last year, Troll and Toad here, on the Gym, stated they would be paying extra if cards were sorted before hand. Myself and several other people I know sorted their cards. We get to Nationals, and they are not honoring this price. We go to show them this post they made on the Gym, and it had been deleted the day before Nationals.

2. Last year Nationals as well, Troll and Toad said they would be buying Primes, Lv. X's, etc at their non-bulk prices listed on there website. We get their with their price guide printed, and they refused to honor said price guide.

3. About 3 weeks ago, I ordered some random singles in "NEAR MINT" condition from Troll and Toad. The cards I got were torn, had things spilled on them, and were sticky and gross. I emailed the company, and the response I go basically stated, "This is our near mint condition." You can even see me opening these gross cards on my Youtube channel.

To sum up those three points, Troll and Toad seriously sucks. And there are other people who can confirm all 3 of these things happening. End of story. ;)

I ordered some holos a while back from them too; to find half of them sticky with black stuff on the back of them and some other cards not even the ones I ordered. I think it's something to do with what Jay said a few posts back; the lower number of vendoers and therefore little competition in the PTCG singles market has created a slight lax response from the vendors. I am not bashing them but rather observing a way in which they could optimise their profit, and "regain" their reputation in the eyes of those who have had bad dealings with them thus far.

So, could you guys post what exactly they offer for bulk at Nats compared to what they actually offer online? I am curious to see the difference.

Their online price and "in person" prices are different. I don't see how that's a problem, no one is forcing anyone to sell anything. I've never had a problem ordering anything from them *shrugs*. Maybe some have had a bad experience, and that really does suck, but one or two bad experiences doesn't define a company on a whole.

Regardless, I do prefer Collector's Cache, but Troll and Toad is not a bad dealer to have at all :v

I have had nothing but great interactions with Troll and Toad. IMHO they are one the best sources for online TCG and general gaming needs. They offer fair prices, great selection and some of the best trade-in value around. Have I had issues, sure. Do they resolve those issues, yup!!! Nothing but pros in my book!!! I am hoping that they are one of the vendor's for Nats this year.

It’s official; Troll & Toad will be at Pokémon Nationals this year! So bring all your bulk because we will be buying!
Holo Rares .25 cents
Reverse Holo Rares .15 cents
Rares .05 cents!

Think you either mean dollars, or drop the decimal point.

What about commons and uncommons?

I came up to the Troll and toad vendors at Nationals, (one of whom was sitting in a chair sipping coffee, mind you, so it's not a "staff problem") and showed him a box of cards -in better condition than most of theirs- that had Rares, Holos, RH's, and a couple Lv.X's in it. He took a 20 second flip through, and said "Just for you, twelve bucks." I picked a random 1in. stack out of the 2 ft. of cards, and showed him things he could sell for over 25$. He just looks at me and says, "Twelve bucks, since they're in a box." WHAT IS THIS MADNESS!?!?! WERE YOU EXPECTING A GOLD PLATTER!?!?!?! I mean, it's not like somebody is going to put them in a freaking binder or something! I just turned around and walked away. Those people are crooks, and I sat there and watched some of their middlemen practically rob noobs and noob parents of their money. "Oh, yeah, Promo or not doesn't affect price at all in the Pokemon market." was one quote. 15$ for a promo Lv.X. Poor kid.

I witnessed one of their vendors offer less for a Leafeon Level X because it was "going out of format", even though it was well known that MD-on was the format AT nationals.

Funny thing that, Leafeon X's were still going for 30+ due to collectible value at that time.

Can we get some buying prices?

[DEL]Of course you can't. You can go down there hoping to sell by the prices on our buylists. But, We might give you half of that price... If we are feeling generous.[/DEL]

They will give the prices down there......

Will your bulk prices be same as your website or will there be a special Nationals deal?

Are you considering less then half to be a special deal?
