Just think, they waited a month after they originally said they were going to do this.

Someone would have complained no matter when they did it. At least they gave us a heads up about it.

odds are these things may be happening

Player rewards update
Premier evetns update
Rankings update
professor store(i know you said they probably wouldnt but why not if its down anyways)
Nationals stuff
and maybe some more.

People wouldn't be as irritated over it if it weren't last week of cities. One weekend later and I'd be fine with it. Even if it had gone on when originally going to happen, that'd have been SO much better. All of our CC's are last/this weekend, so I have no idea what my points are doing through my CC season for my state, which really does suck.

I find it funny how THE PLAYERS all say that had they waited a week more until cities were over this would be fine....

On the other hand the 2 mods in this thread both say that no matter what someone would have complained....

That's because mods will blindly defend everything POP does so that they aren't viewed as complaining.

Even if they have an issue with it, they'll be hypocritical and make it out as players are just whining.

I'm pretty sure the site being down is rough for TO's wanting to report tournaments as well, NOT just players. There is a better time for site maintenance than the last week of CC's. Anything between Premier Events is usually fine.

Instead of saying that players will always complain (which is partly true), why not recognize/agree that this is a terrible time to have the site down?

Great Post, sums up what I was thinking.

Well, last time I checked both 'mom and I are TO's and do have events to report. Also, I believe 'mom is a PTO, needing to schedule Prereleases as well, which she can not do.

All that was said is that someone will always find it to be a terrible time to have the site down. We are not just 'blindly defending POP', we are stating the facts.

I find it funny that we were given so much notice of this happening that people did not check their ratings ahead of time. Personally, it does not effect me at all, I did everything that I needed to do before the site went down. I planned ahead.

I know my rating pre-site maint.

Its that I have 3 tourneys going on that I'll have no idea what I'm playing with. Makes it tough to know when to drop/keep going. Trying to get an invite.

Also, you can't plan your rating ahead of time, when the points can't update or be posted. Your point there is invalid, lol. You may be able to plan uploading in time, but ours WAS uploaded and couldn't update because the site went down.

Well, the good news is no one else knows either.

As long as all your events you were in were uploaded and ratings were calculated before the maint, you know right where you stand - just like every other player in the world.

^ This. However, my only disagreement is that some players didn't have the chance to see their completed ratings...You can play your games, but if a PTO is waiting the whole two week period, then players really don't have a choice when it comes to accurately checking their ratings "ahead of time."

Granted, this is a problem that exists even when site maintenance is not so overwhelming - I'm just saying that the blame doesn't rest entirely on the players' shoulders.

(Which happens to be why you have no problems, EL - you get this stuff out of the way proactively so that your players remain educated and comfortable.)
