Ash's father: the final debate!

well who knows, maybe it was earlier. Didn't think anyone would agree with me on this theory. Also, they seem to know what they're each going to say, and Misty gets equally annoyed with them if you notice, instead of being friendly to new people like she most of the time is. I mean, she was even nice to "Picture Geek" Todd.

I know exactly who Ash's father is!

... He's Ash's grandfather's son! :D

It really doesn't play into the story, so we'll probably never know. Rumors were about in Japan back a few years ago (while the 3rd season was still showing) that we'd learn more about Ash's dad in the 5th season, but that obviously didn't happen. Likely we'll never know about Ash's dad, because it's not important.

Fifth season is Hoenn right? Well, we do know that Norman is Brenden's dad if you play as a guy in RuSa (dunno about the animé, haven't seen it enough). Maybe that's where the rumours came from.

On the Pokemon 3 DVD Commentary, they said we would learn more about Ash's dad by Season 5.

Season 1 - Kanto
Season 2 - End of Kanto to Orange Islands
Season 3, 4, 5 - Johto
Season 6 - Hoenn
Season 7 - Hoenn (has already started in Japan)

So, we know that in Japan, Ash's dad has not been revealed, so they possibly changed their minds. Season 5 was the end of Johto, and we never heard anything about Ash's dad.

And in the show Norman is May's dad.In the game May is Birche's daughter.Maybe Birch is Brendon's dad in the show.Okay back on topic.Hmm...Nothing realy to say.BTW Cool Trainer Aron you should go to Fan Ficand make that into a stoy!

Actually in the RuSa games, whichever character you play as is Norman's kid. I should know, since I play as May in Sapphire and people refer to Norman as being her dad.

Your dad is always Norman and your rival's dad is always birch.

The most logical to me is that Ash's father died when Ash was a young age. He was a trainer and thats why Ash wants to be one. I was thinking that maybe Ash's father left Ash and his mom but they spoke about him positively when he was mentioned in the first few episodes so I doubt that.

Delia never mentioned Ash's father in the Japanese version, which means that it was added in for the dub version. So, what Delia said in the second episode is sort of unnofficial and untrue.

ROFL, APT, ROFL. Actually that's not a bad idea, if I wasn't already in the middle of a giant Evangelion fan fic that I'm writing. Remind me later to do that.

Heh. Well if we're going to go by speculation based on characters in season 5, then I guess Eusine. He's been in several episodes. And, after all, he was looking for Ho-Oh (sort of) and Ash has seen Ho-Oh.

We can guess all we want but never get it. Oh well. :p

Back during season 1 and 2, alot of people thought Giovanni was Ash's dad. And back then, there was more reason for that then there is now. Now that it's 4-5 seasons and some movies later, Giovanni seems much too evil mastermind-ish to be ash's dad. Back then it didn't seem to unlikely. And, as odd a connection as it may seem, the following bit of info points to Giovanni not being Ash's dad.

When Mewtwo destroyed Viridian Gym back when Giovanni tried to harness it's powers, what happened to Giovanni? Everyone obviously must have thought him dead(that is, until he was reported to be up to no good again). If Giovanni truly was Ash's father, with Pallet town and Viridian City being so close to eachother, Delia would surely have gotten the word of his "death" and been devastated. I think that if Giovanni was married to Delia, the first movie would give some hint during the part where Viridian Gym was blown up.

Well that's my opinion. And, an idea just struck me. In the 3rd movie, Aren't there pictures of Ash and Molly's families from when they were young? Someone should scan the pictures for possible Ash dads.

Well, part of that was because of the Pokemon Live where the storyline that [the united states] wrote saying Ash's dad was Giovanni. But it had no real base and was quickly forgotten.

Yeah I remember that rumor, when we got pictures sent to us from Japan before we actually had synopsis here. But no, that's Spencer Hale, Molly's father in the picture. Altogether that picture has Delia, Ash, Molly, Spencer, and Molly's mother (does anyone know her name?). And the other picture was when both Delia and Spencer were younger in Professor Oak's class.

Oak
If it is Oak, that is sick. Since Gary is Oak's grandson, Ash is the same age as Gary. Go figure.... Oak must be a LOT older than Delia, I think they are just friends. UNLESS, he returned to the forest, and encontered Celebi again. Time Travel could, in theory, change everything.

Normal Trainer
Quite likely, and it seems from WPM's source that this is true. Guess its not 100% certain though. That could have been gospel, or just a possibility.

Ho-oh
80% certain it is Ho-oh. I am sure Ho-oh can either transform itself or transform others. It could easily be true, and if so maybe it was "guiding" Ash when he saw it originally. Why else would Ho-oh be on Route 1 at that exact time? Ho-oh is truly sacred, and Ash is obviously supposed to be "special". This is most obvious in Pokemon 2000.

A Celebrity (Real World)
It seems the kind of thing that possibly could happen. You never know. I totally disagree with this theory though.

Mr. Mime
I wouldn't think about Mr. Mime too deeply. "Mimey" is just an overactive friendly cleaner. "Mime, Mime. Mis-ter Mime".

Giovanni
Possibly the most talked about theory. I don't agree. He is the bad guy, IMO and that is as far as it goes. This isn't Star Wars.

Brock
Someone suggested this at SPP. NO, just NO.

May
I'd say this is not very likely.

The Trainer from the Battle (Nidorino VS. Gengar)
Unless this has been revelead already who it is, it remains a possibility.

A Game Boy Advance
Marketing, maybe.

Pikachu
MAYBE. Just maybe, Pikachu is a reincarnation of Ash's dad. The original one possibily having died.

Fearow
AKA Mew. A test of ability and determination, and sacrifice (Pidgeot). If you don't know which Fearow I mean, ask, I will tell you.

Lance
Some people have suggested it. I can't see it myself, but there are connections.

Other
I could have missed them completely
