why does OP have to explain it to you? obviously they have their reasons; whether or not they decide to make any, all or none of them public on the 'gym is up to them.

and BTW: there WAS discussion of the new tournament rules and penalty guides while in draft form on the POP professor-only forums. so it's not like many of these points were not discussed prior to being 'set in stone' by OP.

So, in short, theres no logical reasons? I dont see any, and until official reasons are presented, I don't see any evidence that supports the validity of this rule.

I am well aware of the new ruling and will follow it, no questions asked. In the case of no players having a legal randomizer, unlikely but possible, I would well imagine that the judge would let the players borrow a legal randomizer for that match.

*shrugs* for someone who keeps saying how they don't even play the game anymore, you're sure invested in arguing against every decision OP makes.

sounds like the very definition of a troll to me...

Well here's the thing, more than likely you'll find that at least 1 of your opponent's will have a legal die and therefore no trouble should happen.

After all, who wants to be penalized (ever)?

If you mention that discussion, you should be fair and say that it didn't change much.

In that discussion was a whole bunch of points that speak against D6 and for D20, including opinion and experience report from the head judge of the 2nd biggest Nationals in the world, and including some links to scientific dice analysis. There were some points for D6 too, but most of them were very flawy.

"Players who are new to the game will more likely have a D6 than a D20." - That was one of those points, but in my experience, a lot more new players rather have a D20 with them than a cubic translucent D6 with rounded corners.

"D20 can tip over more easily and may confuse the result that way." - I've been playing and judging for about 4 years now, beeing at a lot of tournaments where D20 have been used, but I've never seen that happen. Not once.

If they took the discussion as base for the new rule, it definitely wouldn't have been D6 as the only permitted dice.

I've had the was that a 6. or a 9. problem come up with D12s and D20s. Not often but it has happened.

I don't see a restriction to round edged translucent D6 cubes as a big problem. I suppose we could try and make it a big problem or just accept it as reasonable and move on.

======

At league I offered to swap out one opaque d6 for one translucent. Lots of players were happy with this. Storm in a teacup? :D

This has happened to me as well. And it was at a regionals.
I made the player roll it again, since he scooped it up before there was agreement on the result.

Well, there are so many legal coins floating around. In decks, in promo blister packs, etc. It's not like you can't get one. Heck, I give them away all the time.

Battle Road events in my area have been instructing players in the new rules, but being flexable. After all, Battle Road events are supposed to be the beginnigs to a players competitive experience, not the end.

Once Cities comes around, I expect this will change to a more firm application of penalties.

That being said, I always have extra coins and dollar tree dice with me to loan / give out. Several players are kind enough to give the coins that they get in multi packs to us, to give to players that need them.

I heard so many stories about how people draw a bunch of cards with magikarp, hit heads with fainting spell etc :/ What needs to happen til they realize d6 are to easy to manipulate
