Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

blazeray-- to call, or not to call?

Yes, there may be that many basics.

But, who says you'll get the ones you need at the right time? Call chooses the ones you need.

Like you make it sound like you need 3 of any basic.

True, but you need three of the right basic.

Call also counts as an energy.

4 all the way.

I think the count depends on the deck and then even more on the list. In my Luxape last year in Nats, I wanted to run 4 but really couldn't because of how it interfered with my other energy counts, like not having enough Fires. So either 3 or 4 is fine. Especially if your already running 3/4 Roseanne's.

What I meant was, if you have the room THEN play 4. But if you have the room and still decide to play 3. . . Get where I'm coming from?

The reason I don't like call is because, at least in my list I run just 10 energy(all basic) so if I put in call I severely cripple my search output for energy w/ just 6, then if I run my other list which I use SP Energy your basic energy drops to about 4. I just like being able to search for all of my energy...(also I played the all basic and took 3rd, my only loss being to FlyChamp and I should've made top cut as I was last 3-0 but there were 9 people :(
So I think it depends on your personal playing style.

Finding 1-2 room isn't hard.

In Blazeray just play 3 Thunder & 4 Fire. That's all you need. 10 Energy is too low IMO.

4 Call is an auto-in if you don't play Machamp, Beedril, Kingdra (or another deck that needs 1 colored energy for it's main attacker)
T1 Call is sick

Are you serious???
I play a LuxChomp with 10 energy (4 call) and it works just fine, that list is 33-4 during citys

Different deck.

I'd play 11-12.

Maybe I over exaggerated lol

I dunno.

What's your ideal energy count in Blazeray?

IMO

4 Call
3 Thunder
4 Fire

I dunno about SP Energy to be honest.

Yea 10-11 Energy is fine. I ran 4 Call/3 Fire/3 Lightning/1 Psychic throughout Cities and it worked wonderfully..very rarely did I have a situation where I needed to search an energy and couldn't.

my favorite energy count in blazeray is 4 CALL, 2 lightning, 2 fire,1 psy, 1 tech energy (or in case no tech or garchomp: +1 fire)

And about the different deck, logical thinking should mean that Lady GaGa needs more energy (because of heavy garchomp discard)

In my current SP deck I run 4 Call AND 4 DCE. In another SP deck I have built I have 4 DCE 4 Call and 2 Warp. Every SP deck has room for call, there is no excuses.

I dunno, 2 Fire and Thunder seems dodgy, like if one's prized you have one left for that Pokemon. You want to disrupt them ASAP so I'd at least play like 3 of each.

I know. So your list must be pretty damn good. In Garchomp I like around 12. I dunno how you do it to be honest.

Have you had any close calls with not drawing an energy or running out etc?

And yeah, Magnechu has pretty much got the ideal energy count in Blazeray.

I am so glad that someone else is as adamant about call energy as I am.

Call Energy! Come on, people!

I have to admit a single thing, i usualy play a aaron or night main on 1/2/3 energy's.
as for drawing, my only draw is a 2-1 uxie line and a super consistent trainer line.
I also play 2 premier ball + 2 Bebe's search + 1 Unown Q for an easy uxie lv X, wich always gives me the nececary draw i need.
I also run a sableye which makes (in combination with unown Q) an exelent starte/set-up pokemon

Also, i used the list i Pm'd to you in the 2009 Pokegym Online Battle Tournament, and it is the list that is 33-4 during city's

Yeah its close to BCIF and playing less then 4 is just :/
You're begging to get donked.

I wonder where SP will go without Call/Uxie thogu H doubt anything can bring it down

Oh but there are excuses. It's what you feel comfortable playing with. Like I said I didn't see the need to play all 4 Call in a deck like ApeRay that had an attack that required FFC. The C was cover usually by Energy Gain.

I had 4 Roseanne's and 3 Sp. Radar to get my basics out. I noticed that when I did start with call, the deck ran slightly better. But was it worth the risk of not having that extra other energy I needed? In my case, no.

I played LuxApe at worlds (had a 4-3 record thanks to NO mew2 counter) and played 4 call energy, the only game i wished i played moer fire energy was the one that 3 fire energy where prized

Ok? Your point being? I'm not a noob at this game, so really you don't need to preach to me on how 4 Call energy is THE PLAY. I pretty much start all my energy counts with 4 Call. Then switch if I see the need to.

Ok Chris. I'll stick up for you. I know your not a newb lol. I played 0 call in my SP decks at Regionals,Nats,The Grinder and this year's cities. I won over 75% of my games. My lists are always far from typical, so you need to take into account what is most important based on your list - there is no cookie cutter answer for all SP... In response to the OP - in BlazeRay I would play 4 call. In LuxApe - hedging - I played none. Any SP with more than three types of energy requirements - I probably wouldn't. I will agree with Ryan and Austin that call energy is almost always the play - it makes every deck more consistent.

Hahaha! My SP lists run 4 basic energy. LOL

You of course are highly skilled at pokemon. Some of us aren't talented enough to pull this off lol. You Ohio players like to play the "Fulop lists" anyhow with like 10 -15 singles with those 4 basic energy. Us boring old guys prefer our geriatric lists ultra conservative.....I did actually try something like this with Dialga Chomp, but kept having issues getting energies and went back and added basic energy... ran much better for me after that... Relying on one psychic energy for toxicroak just doesn't seem right. it is soooooo important in this SP heavy metagame..maybe with a couple sp rainbow, but I don't like singles much... See you at States or Regionals - you mucked up my shot for a two State sweep in 08' - I can't let a guy with 4 basic energies get the best of me again.
