From what the judges were discussing is that it would be a similar format to what it was last year. The possibility is for it to be ran after the VGC.
 
I have heard nothing about an Ugly Cup for 2012. With the VGC on Sunday it does not look like the Ugly Cup will happen, at least in the format we are used to.

While we are talking about the VGC, it is open for players from all around the world. It is not limited to Canadian residents, like the TCG.:eek:

Are the world's invite / trip restricted to Canadian residents only similar to regionals?

Woah, really? The official website said Canadians only for VGC :eek: I might have some American friends wanting to come up for this in that case... Can we enter the US Nationals too?

TPCi needs to be more clear on this stuff :( Maybe the Nationals page will update soon.

best e-mail Pokemon to get a better confirmation if your friends do plan to come out :D
 
I got this e-mail reply from [email protected] about the first and second round bye‏:

In TCG,, the byes will not passdown. But Video Game regional winners do not win byes for the national championships.

Not sure if it answers anything for anyone but I thought I'll share it.
 
I got 3rd at VGC Regional, but the 2nd place was a USA player. So I e-mail and ask if I would get the byes and that's what the replied :( I just copy and pasted it word for word .... who knows, they might be wrong?
 
Just got another e-mail form them today:

It looks like there was some confusion on our team on this. After a quick meeting it looks like there ARE byes for Video game.

Like TCG, byes will not pass down.

Do we know what the breakdown will be for travel awards and invitations for Worlds? The pokemon website had a detailed breakdown for US nationals but not much info for Canadian nationals.

They never do, last year I emailed for the prize break down and they sent me the prize break down for regionals :x

You have to pick it up at nats. Its a cheque.

Its usually the same as every year.

For TCG:
1st $1500 Scholarship, Paid Trip
2nd: $1000 Scholarship (Paid Trip? Not sure cause Pokemon website says Top 2 but last year it was only the winner)
3rd & 4th:$750 Scholarship
Plus a Nintendo system, packs, marchandise etc..

Come to nats and you shall see
