Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Charizard d with basic metal FTW?

There is actually another variant to use Crawdaunt ex along with boosts (that help Charizard too in situations for the double colourless part). In the Magcargo/Delcatty example, putting boost on top for an extra 60 plus the water type versus Infernape and even teh chance of getting more energies, you have a beast dealing lots of damage per turn similar to the ho-oh ex. When he is KOed, Upstream does even more AND you can use the boosts for tail whap!!! That is how a deck works together. 4 evolution lines is nasty however, even though delcatty and magcargo are godly for setup.

Oh, in case Kempley's post was not 100% sarcastic, I got the idea from watching the third pokémon movie. Watching how Ash's Charizard saved him oozing with coolness, I just had to make a Charizard deck :) So no leaking lol.

I've actually tried this with Magcargo and Mantines. Smooth Over DREs and Power Circulate Lightnings. It also had Holon Ruins for a wannabe Quicksearch, but despite that it seemed a little on the slow side to setup.

I've seen FlyZard decks before (playing against) I think they're quite good once you get it running. If it starts slow though, it can take forever to get running. Also, just saying, Flygon EX d works very nice in it as well.

Could someone PLEASE explain to me how flygon/char works? I'm a bit lost here... why use char? for his weakness, or to hit for 100- sure flygon ex d would be easier/better to run as Regis' points out above^? I am genuinely asking btw, not being sarcastic.

I forgot that Metals and darks are now basics. That makes Ho-izard far easier to run i guess! Ho has an excellent type, and a lovely power. But surely he absol-utely DIES to latios d ex? hmm, maybe a quick char retaliation could sort that.

Well its something to be played around with, but I dont have the chars lol

Charizard hits for 120, that's quite something for a non-EX. Flygon's just used for energy acceleration (as Charizard's own power's a little too risky).

ah 120 is a bit better than i thought- ok, starting to see how this looks better now (thats what quick glancing over the card does for ya!)

But surely fly-tech (r-gon...wateva....) would just be better/easier/more efficient to run? the only thing thats missing is a big hit (which arguably i think it shud include latias d ex to provide, but lets stay on topic...)

Basically, Charizard d"s Poke-Power will hopefully net it some energy, then you abuse Flygon's Poke-Power and some Holon's Castform/DRE and hit for 110-120. I only mentioned Flygon EX d since it was more of a tech since it is a very good card, but they'll usually run with the other Flygons and Zard as the attacker.

? Submit suggestions by all means, including support or hybrid ideas.

The main reasons people may want to run Char?

  • He happens to be that fire breathing dragon? You know, the one so awesome that made this thread (read earlier post)?
  • Potential turn one 120. Seriously.
  • Very fun and rogue. Exciting seeing what comes up with peal of thunder, and not just another Bandoom!
  • With cards such as castaway and ho-oh ex, you can run a lot of techs.
  • Pure strength. While consistency likely needs improvement, there is high potential for not only the energy manipulation, but the ease of using double rainbows in a "Raichu's mettalic thunder" type sense that Infernape is adopting.

Fearow becomes very potent as you can search for the Chars to fuel quickly. One thing to consider may be mr. briney's and mewtwo (pre-rotation) or even super scoop up as a replacement to briney's and giant stump to reactivate peal of thunders.

Personally I think Salamance is just so much better than Charizard d with flygon d because has 2 major resistances, one retreat, 2 attacks when the first one allows you to an energy back, can't be hurt by cursed stone/zzap, and his attack only requires a metal and fire and 2 colorless while charizards requires two metal, electric, and colorless, In addition for only twetny less damage you only discard one energy, Its obviously a better play with Flygon d....

you guys are right salamence and other deltas are good with flygon. but you guys are missing what charizard is good in. there are two decks that it just rocks in,but i cant say yet, nationals is too near.

i dont know can you handle 120 hitting you again and again, if thats not hitting you then the rest of the deck is. one of them is really fast, probably the fastest in the format and the other never runs out of ammunition.

yea sure, its not like they can use speed with energy accleration againest my deck anyways because can't use powers againest my deck and also they have to get a setup first and survive the first few turns

you gotta remember that with lock decks if they dont lock they will lose and most of the time its always comboed with spread which gives me more turns to cause damage.
