Umm.... Kayle.... L comes before R.... It can't be after GRoudon... T.T It would have to be NH.

F...fine. No Mesprit, Glaceon.

Iunno, after that slip up, I don't think Glaceon will be coming out. Which is really sad. No HGSS-on Glaceon. Everyone else... but no Glaceon.

I’m just kind of speechless at this point. This has just been the worst season of Pokemon since I started playing like 5 years ago. I was actually holding out hope for this set, but like so many times before, I shouldn’t get my expectations up at all. We started this season off with the controversial decision to keep an MD-on format (thereby extending SP’s dominance), it’s almost time for State Championships and we just got our ratings posted, Japan has shifted to an HGSS-on format while we’ll probably chug along with our unhealthy version of the game, that rule for the top cut was inexplicably changed, we lost the use of foreign cards entirely this season, Gust of Wind is returning soon, decks can currently do like 100+ damage first turn (Uxie donk) or up to 250 damage second turn (Mewperior), and then there’s this set… which just feels like a cruel joke to competitive players.

I know that P!P has some limitations on what they can and can’t do. I know they work hard at producing a healthy, fun game for all parties involved. However, I also think that they’ve made some poor decisions lately – decisions that have hurt the format and kept the game in the same place it was two seasons ago when SP’s hit the scene. My brother was joking around last season when he said that maybe he’d be able to play Palkia Lock at Regionals for a third year in a row. Sadly, he’ll more than likely get his wish.

This set is looking to be quite pathetic… :<

I'm doing a "top ten events of '10" article series, and was wondering if I could quote you on that "worst season of" part? 'Cause that's pretty much what the article's leading into.

Why couldn't the American guys at least finagle "some" sort of unexpected reprint? Seriously, it's no effort at all: you just make up a card; stick a default Ken Sugimori illustration on it; and...Voila. I don't really buy the "PCL didn't want it this way" argument anymore, because PCL has a track record of wrecking its own game in new, exciting, unimaginable ways.

holy god this thread...

CRY SOME MORE

no ones forcing you to buy this set, no one cares that you're not buying this set because small children will buy this set.

Of course it matters if competitive players buy this set, they represent big money to Nintendo, that's why they invest so much money into an Organised Play system . If casual players buy sets no matter what, then sales wise a playable set is still better because they get sales from competitive players as well.

This isn't a thread with casual players talking about the set, it's one with competitive players who care alot about how playable the cards. What do you expect?

whahh! pokegym! whahhh! your basing this entire set off of only 40 percent of the cards most of which are commons. so far I am disapointed but hey it could be worse it could be like idk emerald.

This is worse than Emerald imo. From what we've seen, its a mix of filler and cards that make the game LESS fun. While Emerald had Battle Frontier.

Yeah, be my guest. :thumb:

And I agree with what you said. This set feels like it's being released with a complete disregard for the competitive player... it's hard for even casual players to stomach with the absence of Primes or Legends.

Emerald actually had ultra-rares, much unlike this set. Emerald was also the first set to feature the holo basic energies if I'm not mistaken. AND it had Medicham ex and Battle Frontier, both of which were extremely influential on the metagame. So far, it looks like COL is inferior to EM by quite a bit.

I heard promises of Primes. Were those lies? D:

The only tell I heard of primes were from some foreign site that had marketing stuff for the set hella long ago. However, fact that this set isnt in the HGSS block, I gave up on primes way long ago, especially since we've heard NOTHING from P!P

I think even a casual COLLECTOR, who just buys a bunch of packs, might notice that those shiny Legends have really pathetic, useless attacks and don't seem remotely cool.

...And that they are functionally exactly the same as several of their rare holos.

Want to say the list is going to look like this:
7
8
9 Ho-Oh (or 7/8)
What about Gyarados

20 Raikou
21 Rayquaza
22 Slowking (Smeargle? :p)
23 Suicune
24 Umbreon
25 Ampharos
26 Granbull/Forretress
27 Leafeon
28 Magmortar

In this block of nine, we have the three Shiny card copies and six more spaces. In this six spaces I see a need for nine cards.

Slowking
Umbreon
Ampharos
Feraligatr
Forretress
Granbull
Leafeon
Magmortar
Meganium

Unless I messed up (quit likely) regarding the holo rare and rare of each card missing.

30 Munchlax

I think 30 may be Pidgeot

Literally can't see anything good being in the gaps.

I agree.

I'm going to get it. I've been drooling over those Japanese shiny groudon/kyogre/ho-oh/lugia promos for a while now and I collect shiny cards. I'm actually excited about this set. (mainly because i don't play though lol)

Whoa, I just found someone who mirrors me in the pokemon world! I also collect shiny cards and almost never play it.

I have also been awed at the awesome shiny cards. I can't wait for this set! *Puts aside money for a box*

Decent set.

-Lost World
-Mr Mime
-Mime Jr
-PONT
-Sage's Training
-Holofoil HGSS Energy

The Dialga actually looks quite nice, might keep one just because. Either way, i'm going to the Prerelease regardless, they're a lot of fun and I enjoy the time I spend with the people I cherish. The cards honestly can be better, but what can I say?
