After the prerelease, I am... less than thrilled... with these ratios, not just of EX cards in general, but each specifically.
Let me start by saying we had 111 players at our prerelease. Shattered our previous numbers, nearly gave our PTO a heart attack. If we'd gotten a 112th player, we would have had to turn them away.
So for the first part of the prerelease, we opened 666 packs. I decided to keep track of 4 of the EX cards - Reshiram, Zekrom, Mewtwo, and Regigigas. I walked around while people were building and asked what EX cards they'd pulled. Grand total?
Reshiram: At least 12
Zekrom: At least 10
Mewtwo: 6 (2 FA, 4 normal)
Regigigas: 3 (NO FA)
So not only are they giving us three of the less anticipated EX Pokemon in tins, they're also giving us the most common ones by a large margin. :<
Also, after the tournament was done, I asked tables what shinies they'd pulled. After all was done, we opened over a thousand packs.
Over a thousand! Grand total?
4 Emboar
3 Hydreigon
2 Zoroark
0 Chandelure
That's right, out of 28+ boxes, not one person at our prerelease could complete the set. One thousand packs, 9 shinies.
Also an odd thing I noticed. We sat 6 to a table, so at 6 packs each it was pretty evenly a box a table. I noticed that a lot of the time, whatever FA was pulled also had its normal equivalent at the same table. Both Mewtwo FA cards, for example, had the player one one side pull the regular one. 3 Reshiram FA cards were next to their non-FA equivalents, too. Now, statistics may not be my best area, but that seems a little... unrandom. Anyone else notice this?
As far as energy go, it was extremely erratic. We had boxes opened that had a total of 3 special energy. However, I watched one box be opened that had 6 Prism, 6 DCE, and a reverse DCE.
So we had tables where not a single person pulled a DCE, and other table that had two players pull 3 DCE each. :/ The trainers seemed to be about even. We had slightly less Heavy Ball and Skyarrow, but it wasn't by a large margin.
All in all, the prerelease was fun, but this set is a nightmare. >.< I'm really hoping the company sees how many fans they're annoying and changes things next set. (Of course, next set might only have 4 EX cards instead of 6, but still.)
