1. First, does anyone actually know the release date? Ebay has it all over the place, ranging from Sept 12th to Oct 5th.

Officially, it's September 2012. Enjoy.

This implies that they'll appear in your area between September 1 - September 30, where certain stores will have it before others. It might be possible to grab these by Battle Roads (if that's what you're after) but I wouldn't hold my breath on it.

2. From everything I've heard, the MSRP is $20...why? Four packs and a promo have always been 15-16 haven't they? If I remember correctly, the Arceus "Walmart" tins had 5 packs and a promo and ran $20. I never could figure out why the EX's were presaling for $10, that's insane for a promo...but, now it makes more sense.

Because it's Darkrai, Mewtwo, and Rayquaza.

3. Bonus question: My store told me the MSRP for Pokemon packs is 3.99...so, why does EVERY retail store sell them at about 4.18? The old logic was because of the online codes (even though the MSRP never changed)...but, now that PTCGO has flopped pretty hard, when will we see packs fall to 3.81 (to make up for the extra .18 we paid for online codes that have been worthless)?

Correction: the MSRP did change with the PTCGO codes from $3.79 to $3.99. Why do large retail stores, such as oh say Target, sell them at an extra $0.20? Well, $0.20 / $3.99 = ~5% additional profit. And the last time I checked, profiting was a good thing for retailers.

Ex tins coming September 12th.

My local card shop told me this afternoon that they're getting the tins on September 12th and will be selling them starting that day. I assume this means big retailers like Walmart will do the same.

If I remember right, they released Rayquaza C Lv. X, Garchomp C Lv. X, and a non-SP Lv. X. Of those, Garchomp was the only really dominant one.

That's not because they chose to release non-dominant cards, it's because there were no other really good options. Once Uxie was released as a league promo and Garchomp as a tin promo, almost every deck in entire format could be bought for about $15 a card at most (in Dialga's case). The only outlier was Luxray GL Lv. X, which I think dropped to around the price Darkrai is now, and you could get away with just one Luxray.

As noted, it wad charizard g...but, those cards were actually worth more (charizard and rayquaza) than garchomp and the format was defined by garchomp, not that it was good, it was hands down the best.

Luxray never dropped in price until it rotated

I hope you're right. I was thinking the 12th too, but many sites have the preorder for the 30th. Pokebeach also reports that as the date.

My distributor charged me for them on Friday, and they only charge me when they have them in-hand, on the day they are planning on shipping them. So if they aren't coming out on the 12th, then something different than the past 5+ years is going.

Fall EX Tins

I was able to find some at a local Wal-Mart and I did post one of the tin opening videos on my channel.

Go and check if any of your local stores have it.

Thats the thing though.... they had like 3 cases worth put out! There was at least 3 more of each one after I went buck wild. And there are actually 2 walmarts in the closest town to me, so I'm guessing there are tins for everyone.
