Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Crystal Lake, Illinois CC Report

I turn 15 in less than four months, I don't want my future division banned. =/ Frankly, here's how I see this whole situation. For what's happening right now on a public message board to cause the removal of the 15+ division is completely ridiculous, and whoever is concerned about this happening is much too hypercritical of Chuck and Fulop (please forgive me if I forgot anybody else's name ;p). My opening statement was pure sarcasm, and if you didn't recognize this, your brain is the size of an olive pit.

Joking aside, what's happening right now is certainly a cause for alarm for the moderators of this board, but not as much for the 15+ division. If this division was to be banned, Nintendo would be in hot water in zero seconds flat. They are relatively new to the whole Pokemon business, and such a critical move after only about a year of having this game under their belt would be disastrous for their player base. 15+ is obviously the most profitable part of Pokemon, and without Organized Play, the players of 15+ will abandon the game completely. Spirit of the Game is fine and good and other one syllable constructive words, but it's not doing enough to stop these types of outbreaks on the 'Gym: outbreaks that, if continued, will not get the older division a banning from OP, but it's not going to chance Spirit of the Game, and it's not going to make Nintendo's decision as to whether or not we stay or go any easier.

Spirit of the Game needs a major revision. I think that after the Shaft thread by our ex-member Drew, even the creators of SotG realise that. It's simply not doing its job. THAT is why all these jokes about shuffling for two minutes and flipping tables are springing up. And because of Nintendo's relaxed standpoint about rule-breaking, more and more harsh things have been going up on this board. I can definitely tolerate jokes about pushing SotG to its fullest extent, because it is a semi-satirical post, and nobody in their right mind takes it seriously. But relaxed standpoints about rulebreaking and posting, etcetera, have made "jokes" about religion come up more than once or twice on this board. We have freedom of religion, and that allows the people of this country to freely put whatever they want about religion in their signatures on Pokemon message boards. Chris, you are allowed to be an atheist. Freedom of Religion also works as freedom of Not-religion, but you can't really defend Chuck's actions. He has apologized, so we're all clear, but after PokePop has made it crystal that there are not to be any more "jokes" about people's religion, and you continue to say it's only a joke and that we shouldn't get worked up about it, TOUGH LUCK. It's against the rules, and you must deal with that. If you can't, you aren't even mature enough to be posting here. If you're going to continue to deny that people should be offended when their religion is attacked, whether seriously or jokingly, your suggested course of action from before, to "curl up in a ball and cry yourself to sleep", is probably the best way to go.

If anybody who is in any position to change Spirit of the Game is reading this, we are in dire need of a revision to the rules. Game losses, prize swaps, and other more harsh penalties are needed in order to set the 15+ division in line. SotG is clearly not working. Look at the results from the 'Gym, the people that have been banned, threads that have been locked, posts that have been made, "jokes" that have been told, and if you think about it more than just once, you'll realize that a change is in order. You're only encouraging the kind of behavior that goes on here if you don't do something about this. You will slowly lose your player base if harsher penalties are not assigned soon, especially from the 15+, your leading source of profit. Great players are slowly coming back to the game (Chuck, Ness), but others are leaving just as quickly (Strike). You were headed in the right direction, and I was just about over my anti-Nintendo thing. I've been more quiet about it recently, but somebody has to speak up without too radical a position, even if it's not going to do anything to change your mind immediately. Hopefully you will take what I say more seriously than before. If you want to stop the kinds of posts that go on that end up locked, which end up dishing out bans, then SotG will be revised. It's for the betterment of the experience the players have playing this game, and so ultimately, it's for the betterment of the game.

While spirit of the game is vague, it leaves more room for the judge to interpret if what penalties seem appropriate.

Sean I didnt think you need a "major" penalty for the because the way I understand the rules it is both you and you opponent's job to see that the cards a played correctly, the last time I checked out your match I hadnt seen any misplays, the only thing I can do when I do see a misplay is fix the game the best that I can.
