Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Crystal Lake, Illinois CC Report

TTar, Glad to have you post. Couple of points:
Yeah, I was getting annoyed by the number of Cautions the judges kept giving you for the Supporter misses as well. I did give you a final caution and instructed them to start upping the penalty, if you recall. You did get it straight at that point. I will say, from the other side of the floor, a judge really does hate to award a game (or cause a game to be lost due to a strong penalty) for what is really a minor infraction.

Where I was talking about restrictions on what is posted, looking back over the posts, pretty much the ONLY thing I'm objecting to is the denigration of someone elses religion. I'm NOT going on about stupid things like flipping over tables. Not even about tearing up a diner in the name of the PokeGym. Hey, if that's some people's definition of a sharp wit, so be it. I disagree that people should have to waste time defending their religious beliefs from even spurious attacks. People get very wound up in their beliefs. If you're not aware of that, you're not aware of 90% of the major conflicts going on around the world right now. If we allow random assaults on those beliefs, we have to allow their defense. If that happens, believe me, the entire board will soon descend into ugly debate.
So, I think it's reasonable to not allow personal attacks on a Pokemon board.
Feel free to discuss anything to do with Pokemon and advance any ideas along those lines.
Of course, also be prepared to defend those ideas against those that will disagree with them without crying about people jumping on you. It goes both ways, n'est ce pas?

Stalling and such I believe is not a problem of the players, it is a problem that the players are put in. A player is put into a situation where the only way to survive a round is to stall. What is reasonable and unreasonable stalling is unfortunately NOT EVER GOING TO BE AGREED UPON. THIS ISSUE WON'T GO AWAY.

ONE IMEDIATE CORRECTION:
2 MINUTES TO SHUFFLE ONLY FOR THE BEGINING OF THE GAME. FOR IN GAME SHUFFLE, A MUCH QUICKER SHUFFLE SHOULD BE DONE. (No reference to TIME)

I have other suggestions, but this 2 minute shuffle rule is counterproductive.

I started a long discussion on this issue earlier. Maybe you want to jump over here to continue the rant.

Congrats to Pooka

Well, he does have "big" and "chuck" in his name...

Yea, this has gotten out of hand =\

I know you adults want to hate me because I'm so good looking and SO good at this game, and you believe that I would actually go somewhere and flip tables or do 20 minutes of shuffling in one turn, but I wouldn't. To even think that anyone would do that is worse than playing BLAZEIKEN... okay, maybe not that bad, but it's still pretty bad. Other than my obvious arrogant side (which I can get away with because I'm a fricken genius when it comes to strategy and I'm better looking than Brad Pitt), I'm a really nice, down-to-earth guy. Thoughout my Pokemon career, people would constantly come up to me and shake my hand saying it was a PLEASURE to play with me, it was an HONOR to play with me. People also know that I'm one of the funniest guys in the world with a HUGE sense of humor, and I'm constantly making jokes, or making fun of "athority". I don't actually hate Wizards or Nintendo or Pokegym Mods or whatever, I'm just having some fun. It's what I do. I will apologize to Pokemom for making jokes about her religion though. I saw a chance to stir up some contoroversy and get a few laughs, so I did. I didn't actually think people would get upset about it. Again, I'm sorry.

And now my thoughs on stalling and penalties:

You sure as hell don't need 2 minutes to shuffle a deck. You need 30, but there are some people out there who are a little slow, so make it 45 seconds.

Clearly if you get a bad hand and start knocking over tables (Which I'm going to have to do now because all of the peer pressure, thanks guys), you should get disqualified from the tournament, kicked out of the store, have your POP number banned, and possibly get put in jail with Martin, but seeing as this will never happen, just have certain penalties ready for things like people taking a prize on accident, or drawing too many cards. I guess Nintendo HAS to make this into a "kids game" though, so I think you can get away with only allowing prize penalties in the 15+ division, but not in 11-14 or 10-. But we do definately need some form of prize penalties or match losses. Some people out there are stupid and like to cheat, and we can't just let them get off with a warning and a patented SD Pokemom shaking frowning face thing that she puts at the end of her posts.

Ohh, and just to keep my "bad boy" image incase the mods are starting to warm up to me, lemme give you my thoughs on Spirit of the Game:

ROFL UMMM NO

-Chuck :D

I might as well put some cents in here since I went to CL for the CC...

Chuck, While it's good to know that apologized, you should start, the next time you're going to say something about a religion/ANYTHING personal, ask youself 2 questions...

1. Should I?
2. Will I offend people with it?

And as far as this thing about flipping tables over, it's obvious someone has anger problems, so I'll give them some lessons of life....

1. I lose more times that you.
2. Get help
3. Talk to someone about it
4. It's just a game
5. Read the (insert offensive adjective here) rules and have a nice day.

On a "nice" note, Pooka is one of the best players for my sons or myself to play.

Competitive, polite (there goes his reputation), and a sportsman in every sense of the world.

I got to play him for the first time in that FAT - when we were both doing pathetically, and ironically both playing Meganium I think....

Great times...look forward to seeing him again...

How did that decklist win though? =/

j/k See you at states.

Chuck was being sarcastic about the table. -_-

YES, I know...

but either way, if someone is really going to throw a table around because they lost, they obviously have no sense of how human life is supposed to react or work in that situation.

Dunno, fulop, I would draw the line at making fun at religion simply because of how personal it is.

I can't see anyone walking into a tourney and flipping tables, seriously, some people can be too serious. What I don't get is why we can't go back to the old DCI rules guidelines, they were able to handle everything (cheating, stalling, intimidation) instead of this gamesmanship nonsense. You didn't need to define it in the guidelines with some vague statement that seems more subjective the more I think about it. It's like having your parents nag you for the 1000th time in the same week to put on a hat because they're afraid you might catch a cold and die.

I'll be honest, I've met Chuck quite a few times and he IS a friend of mine. I know he can get out of hand, but as far as I know anything he's saying on here is just... in his own weird way sometimes him trying to be funny. Once you get past that he's actually pretty nice. I do see though how he can get someone stirred up lol.

Kinda stupid thing to do either way BigChuck,

If you make fun of anyone's religion or anything personal for that matter, no matter if you were kidding or not, YOU STILL DID IT, so to begin with, its not funny at all in the first place so just dont start and starting "controversy" just for the fun of it, is ridiculous, no one will ever take you seriously if all you want to do in life is just make jokes, im sure you wouldn't like it if I made fun of your family, your religion, your race, whatever else you think is important to you, etc....

As far as the structure of the game.....

It is what it is, there haven't been any serious chaotic problems, so there is no need to mess with it, if anything araises im sure that POP officials will take care of it asap....
See ya

On a different note from all these ongoing issues... I just wanted to say it was a nice tourney, despite me going 2W -4L. The turnout was good and it was nice to meet people from all over the place, that's why I have gone to 10 CC's so far, one more left to go to on Saturday. It was good to see Vince and his crew there, I hope to travel down to St. Louis for states and bring a ton of my fake cards to distribute there. I left before the T4 began, so I didn't actually see the end games, congrats to all that made it to the top 8 and above.

Ok i think that some of you ppl really just need to relaxe. Chick (lol im mean Chuck)was only trying to get a point across. That the guidelines are fague at best.

Dave III

PS thanks a lot Alex now ill get in trouble for throwing a table.

God, does every post started by one of the top players have to turn into some stupid discussion over something crappy and totally irrelevant? This has started to happen so much, and it's really annoying me, especially in this case. Pooka is an excellent player, and one of the best, but he doesn't have that egotistical, cocky attitude that typical "good" 15+ players have. For his thread to deteriorate into this, I believe it is a disgrace. I think we just need to stay on topic and concentrate on making comments on his CC victory.

[edit: At this point, take personal arguments to PM. Or better yet, just keep them to yourself.
Thanks.
Pop[/edit]

To Axe: You're probably only gunna get a warning when they find out you flipped that table. I on the other hand will probably get a prize penalty when they find out how I knocked out that small child and threw his deck across the room after he won high-roll.

To stay on topic: Pooka, play Milotic in your Draggy deck. Playtesting has shown the thing to be a beast. Prolly take out some tech like R energy or a gym.

Dear lord I dont even know if I should get into this one...there are a million different things that I could say but for now I will keep it simple. Pooka is a great guy (though I want my only freaking zangoose back lol!!! Nice job winning with it by the way, u owe me dood) That much I agree with. Chuck and ness has a strange sense of humor (I had to endure hours of being called Pooka) and I've known them for a long time, you guys still can do things inappropriate when there are young children around...That said they have also had long standing relationships with the WOTC staff and I assume that if they start playing at all the big premeir events they will get real close with the POP staff too, if you get my drift. I have never seen or heard of them cheating EVER, though they do like to play around quite a bit with the rules that DO exist, they never break them.

Pooka, great job dude, hope to see you at some of the state championships soon. Ill leave it at that, ness and chuck, you guys are okay...but just okay.
