Prerelease Raichu all over again. I wonder if I can get ahold of that manufacturer.
 
How about doing what was done for the Regionals pins last year, when they were mailed out to the people who participated?

Either that, or Cities prizes would work as well. Just don't destroy them, please. More deckboxes = GOOD!!
 
How about authorizing the TOs to hand out two additional DF boosters instead? People just aren't going to be understanding when we tell them it's China's fault :/
 
Well this statement from Pete sounds interesting, "We are looking into a different commemorative item for future releases that has a shorter production time."

Wonder what that might be.

Gonna have some unhappy campers at the Pre-Releases though.
 
A different item? Well count out a card book because that would be made wherever the deck boxes would be made. How about a sticker thing where you get a book with your players rewards that have spaces for pre-release stickers. You can then mail full pages of stickers in for extra special items. Heck, throw in all premier tournaments too.

The only way to start production earlier would be to not wait for the cool packaging art to come from Japan. I don’t think people would be very happy with the results. I also doubt that brand management would allow POP to create a commemorative item that was not tied to the set.

Our design and shipping departments have been complaining about the tightness of the production schedule and warning of potential problems for several releases. We were already looking at a replacement item before this happened.



We don’t have plans to add anything extra, though I am still scrambling to find something we have in sufficient quantity. Unfortunately, I cannot afford to hold back the Prerelease shipments any longer. We need to send them out today or risk missing the first weekend’s events.

While half of the pokemon community may hate me for saying this, maybe POP Packs are the way to go??

No, please God no... Some people get so many of those things that it's a waste, like myself. I would rather paying less or something else.

but a new commemorative item, eh? hmm...this oppertunity just SCREAMS badge case...:D
yet, of course, that wouldn't happen...
honestly though, theres very little else you could offer. perhaps sleeves with a set design, but those would cost a lot to make. maybe t-shirts with the set design?

what a huge disappointment.....the players should be given 2 extra packs to replace the lost deck box...I loved the artwork on the deck boxes....the tshirt idea seems like a good replacement for the future
 
Another good reason to make the product here in the good old U.S.A. Sure they may cost a little more to make but look at what it might do for the economy. Some crackhead could get a job to buy his crack with rather than stealing rims and hubcaps.

Tshirt idea has been tried with not enough interest. I know- I liked most of them too! They are expensive too!

That could be a problem too because alot of the PTO's didn't plan their orders around not having the deck box!

I wonder who ends up owning the deckboxes once they are rejected by POP....

I wonder how many will vanish and escape the destruction process.

I was told that a big reason for the reduction from 4 prize packs to 2 was pressure from retailers. I have no idea if that is the case. If true then it seems unlikely that we will see 4 packs as prizes reinstated.

I can say that I thought that the deck boxes were a nice addition to the pre-release items. RIP deck boxes??
