Bleh, running a bit late again...anyways, yesterday's DNIWER CotD is Machamp from SF; while it hasn't exactly taken off en mass as everyone predicted last format, it's still as good as the day it was released, and even better thanks to the removal of Unown G from the format. Statwise, 130 HP is average for a Stage 2, +30 Weakness to :psychic: is meh, no Resistance is common, and :colorless::colorless: to Retreat is eh. Take Out of course has to be one of the best attacks in the game; for :fighting: you deal a great 40, and if the Defending is a Basic, it's an automatic KO. This makes him pretty much Enemy No. 1 to SP decks, which of course run rampant these days. Machamp SF isn't a one-trick pony either; Hurricane Punch is decent at :colorless::colorless: for 30x the number of Heads you get out of 4 coins, and while Rage is a bit expensive at :fighting::fighting::colorless::colorless: for a base 60, you deal an extra 10 for each damage counter on Machamp, maxing out at 180 damage. Add the fact this guy can still level up and will be getting a very nice Prime counterpart to add to the deck, and you really just have a great allround Pokemon to make a deck with.

Modified - 9/10 (Runs over any SP deck not prepared for it, and can donk many others since Unown G is no more)
Limited - 8/10 (Ok, odds are you won't get this out early enough to Take Out everything, but it still has some great attacks to work with)
Unlimited - 2/10 (Here is where it falters some...)

2/10

Outside of SP decks Machamp just doesn't have good match ups. With VileGar out there just don't see Machamp getting played much anymore.

Wait . . . you're giving Machamp 2/10 because it only has a good match up against half the format and loses to overhyped Vilegar decks (which it doesn't have to if you tech it)?

Machamp decks are winning again. You have some catching up to do.

This card is as broken as the sp it counters 10/10. It also prevents the playing of Legend decks, which is quite a source of grief for me :(

In my area Machamp hasn't really done anything.I've seen Machamp top cut at BR,but alot of decks can do that.
It has done well in the seniors divsion, but not in masters.

I play Sp and I absolutely LOVE the fact that Machamp is in format. Nothing better than watching someone's Luxchomp or DialgaChomp getting run through by Machamp

I'll stop doing it then.I'm sorry

8/10 .... can kill my sp deck with no problem .... can be flippy and a little slow sometimes, but if played right it can be very viable card ! TAKE OUT is probably the best attack I have seen on any pokemon...

Even more good cards!

130 HP is great for a stage 2. The psychic weakness hurts, and the retreat cost is a bit heavy.

Machamp is pretty well-known for its first attack, Take Out. For one energy, you can do 40, but if the defending is a basic Pokemon, it is an automatic KO. This attack can make it a huge threat against cards like SPs. Its second attack, 30 for two, can let you flip 4 coins, and it will do 30 times the number of heads. This means that you have the chance to do 30, 60, 90, 120, or none, so you can see some luck here. The third attack (Yes, this Pokemon has lots of attacks), 4 for 60 (three with a DCE), will let you do 60 plus 10 for each damage counter on Machamp. No wonder, Machamp has some awesome attack coverage, and most of its attacks have a huge potential.

Overall 9/10 in modified, 10/10 in limited, and 4/10 in unlimited

In modified, this card is extremely good. With so many SP Pokemon running rampant, Machamp can become their worst nightmares thanks to its first attack. Its first attack also has donk potential. In fact, thanks to it, Machamp was the card that truly brought the meaning of "donk" to this world. Hurricane Punch might be risky, but Rage also has potential, especially since Machamp has some rather high HP. The only issue is that the card has developed some rather dangerous counters, like the Toxitank combo, Uxie Lv.X, or Mismagius SF. Despite this, Machamp has huge potential thanks to its attacks, and it is well known as one of the most notorious cards in modified.

In limited, this card is still very good. With small amounts of counters for it almost non-existent, Machamp becomes a force to be reckoned with. With so many basics in SF, Take Out can give you some quick, easy games, and the second and third attacks can do lots of damage too. It can even use Machamp Lv.X to further increase potential. Indeed, Machamp is certainly worth to play in a :fighting: deck, if you manage to pull one out.

In unlimited, this card is now around the decent range. The issue is that once again, there are multiple ways this card can be countered, especially with the big presence of :psychic: Pokemon. Despite this, it still has some awesome attacking potential, and it could bring about some nasty, surprise donks here as well with its first attack.
