Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

DP-on | Decks after rotation.

L0l if you bought alot of cards to test, then you just wasted alot of money. Printers and ink is cheaper to use and not waste money on cards u wont probably use.

Leafeon> Kingdra all day everyday.

Thanks for rubbing it in. With the new LA release it saves my behind as the kids can trade away alot of the pre-LA DP cards we bought for new LA cards with the kids from school. I just need to start testing in order to tell them what to try to go trade for! Someone recommended playing proxies when we first started. I totally forgot and got caught up buying cards (I like to shop.)

I was examining the LA release a bit more. I think it is fun and entertaining for people to discuss theories of using specific new cards. I think at this early point, before having done a lot of playing with the new cards, it is easier, more productive, to take a step back and look at the new set from the perspective of how it will change what types are being used the most and the weakness and resistance of those types, especially when you consider people using Lake Boundary.

In looking at the cards, I think Fighting and Psychic is still going to end up being two of the top 3 most popular types. Gliscor looks like a decent card, it isn't weak to psychic and is resistant to other fighting. Plus Rhyperior X will probably be popular at first, everyone is gaga over the 170HP, and it appears Gallade may still be an effective card and I imagine people will still be using Claydol. So I think you'll see a lot of decks with a lot of fighting type. As far as Psychic, I think Giratina is going to be the sleeper of the LA set. A Psychic that isn't weak to other Psychic! (and is resistant to colorless)

I think Fire or Water is going to round out the top 3. I'm guessing Water with the popularity of Kingdra and possibly Frosslass being the sleeper for LA Water plus considering Empoleon and Glaceon still are no slouches.

My shot in the dark is that the field will divide into two groups - the fighting+something and the water+something group since fighting is week to water. So maybe we'll be seeing people battle out with fighting+electric against water+leaf. Wait... what happened to my Psychic? :)

It's a total guessing game. But it's fun to guess.

At this point, jazee, yes, it is a guessing game. But come late september let's hope we guessed right.

Fire will fall with those dragons running around.

Leafeon variants will be awesome.

Luxray will be good but hard to really get going 100 every turn.

TentaCruel will only be good if you are stupid enough to start dicarding energy. Remember, there is

no ER2 in this format, so they can't make you discard energy.

I heard one post a while ago about Honchkrow but it dosen't stand a chance.

MagneVire looks good if you can bide your time to get set up(via Dialga MD)

Other stuff around I didn't mention.

1) People still don't get how lanturn/tenacruel works (playing just tentacruel is pretty meh).
2) Krow is the most overlooked level X in the game.

Krow DEFINITELY is overlooked, but probably the 2nd most overlooked.*pats torterra on the head*

Gliscor is definitely gonna live up to the hype.

Heatran might see play in mag. decks, but it will get killed by kingdra.

for speed decks. i also see venomoth sw as a great t2 card. 50 for 2. no special conditions put on it with distubance dive. no more cess to get rid of the body that makes it so great. if it werent for the added body, i wouldnt like it.

I liked to try that deck Japan had at Winter Challege that Honchkrow X/Wobufeet LM/Holon Engine deck,it seemed fun you take away their hand and then snipe and snipe with Krow X/Murkrow. I guess Ima try it with Araidos.

There is 1 card in LA that is more underrated than almost any other card out there, that is going to be a major threat.

leafeon x is really good but 1 azelf x will DESTROY it there are so many cards in la that do damage per ur opponents energy, leafeon will be good in the start, but i dont see it going too far, everyone can just easily add a card to their deck that does damage according to your opponents energy

so true, but I still think Leafeon will be played A LOT.
It's just too good and has resistance to Kingdra.

It's quiet hard for azelf to OHKO leafeon Lv.X. Unless there are 11 energy in play which is quiet difficult. But then azelf can easily KO your bench.
