Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Edinburgh Tournament! 10th September 2005!

A couple of quick questions:

Why are you posting here rather than Paul?

Are you the same person?

The venue listed on the website was incorrect, and in fact at the other end of town???

The venue given at the incorrect venue in fact did not EXIST????

The phone number to call was that of an old woman who had nothing to do with the event and knew nothing about it???

pokeguru, I will respond to your message in due course thanks for contacting me

avmozz,
1. I am posting on his behalf giving the fact I have just noticed this and as he will still be at work I thought I would make a brief reply for those concerned. I cannot answer to all the questions posed however based on the facts that I do know I will happily reply.

2. Same person as in Paul? No I infact judge events for Mr Strathearn (not pop sanctioned) on a regular basis. Fyi my name is Scott.

3. The Venue? I am interested to know where the information for the said "venue" came from. I do know that the initial address given by pokeguru (now deleted) was a shipping address and not the address where the event was to be held. The event is indeed a fair distance from that of the shipping address I agree.

4. Again I am not sure what you mean by the venue given? I amy have answered this above lmk

5. Do you happen to know what this phone number was? Not that I will be able to do anything other than confront paul on this matter and indeed speak to pokeguru regarding the number.

P.s I am in no way trying to defend the fact that this so called tournament turned into such a shambles and should have been organised better, But please bare in mind this was the TO's first pop sanctioned event and the problems with communication with pop were not the best. Afterall this tournament was cancelled so in reality no one should have turned up at this event.

I will keep everyone updated, and again I a happy to answer any further questions to the best of my knowledge either here or via private message.

It could have turned out better, but what's done is done. We need to make sure it just doesn't happen again, though.

TORCHIC, the "new" venue we were told about was given to us at 16A Pearce Avenue (the venue listed online on both the POP site and The Place For Games website.) by the people there, who supposedly knew about it, yet gave us an address that didn't exist...as we discovered later.
The new venue we were given was the addy I sent in the PM. The street went up to 80, then no further, meaning that number 132 of that road didn't exist. We decided to check the street nearby as this did go up to at least 150. Unfortunately, between 140 and 80-something ish of that road was taken up by an old distillery, which on the other side, was a different street just full of flats. I WILL, however, give you that phone number listed on the POP site and The Place for Games site in a PM. Hope that'll help.

So, finally... Is there a league in Edinburgh?

Pokeguru, I'll send you a PM next week so we can meet!

I've a feeling SD Pokemom will kill me for reposting in this topic about a month after the incident occured, but I need to give you guys the info.

Just got an e-mail from Carl Crook at The Place for Games Ltd.

Hi Cole,

I have finished investigating this. They will not be allowed to run
future events.

Thanks for updating us on this.

Cheers

Carl

So there we have it. After a month of investigation, they won't be able to run any more tournaments. Thanks to those who've helped get this sorted, particularly Avmozz, who hasn't been on the Gym for a while due to some personal issue...whatever it is, he'll be glad to hear that this has been sorted out. Whilst I am disappointed that Edinburgh now no longer has a TO, I'm happy to see that someone who appeared to be a fraudster has been brought to justice.

I close with one question, what has happened to TORCHIC on this forum? He hasn't been seen since the trade controversy with other people and since he claims he was related to this incident...

*sigh* Guys, there's a difference between excavation and 'the rest of the story'; this is clearly the latter.

Glad to hear that the crooked TO won't be allowed to run any more events.

'mom

'mom, you totally let Cole down !!!

Also glad the former TO won't be in a position to obtain product/promotional items to stock his eBay store(s)...

RR - Yeah, that's something I'm glad about too. Especially with the new POP 2 stuff out; they're going for a bit on eBay atm. I think that we won't hear of him for a while. My question about that user TORCHIC has not yet been answered. Didn't he claim that his brother, Paul, did it? I think I've heard that before from other, now-banned, Gym users...

On the plus side, there is something good coming out of this. I'm now working with the Falkirk League Owner and Tournament Organiser to find a venue in Edinburgh to run another Scottish league in. So fingers crossed for that. :thumb:

'mom - How could you not lock this?!? Thanks for keeping it open though. Lets see what anyone else has to say, if anyone else has to say it.
