EX: D&P: ???

EX: D&P: ???

EX: D&P: ???
-Coming soon. Two sets. Look for Hoenn gyms and elites.

This set focuses on Frontier Brains, the heads of battle facilities on an island in Hoenn called the Battle Frontier. If you thought the gyms, elites, and Champion were tough, even Wallace was a pushover compared to the Frontier Brains! The battles at these facilities are unlike any you'd ever seen, and each Frontier Brain is more challenging than all Hoenn Gym leaders put together! Unique setups was the name of the game in the Battle Frontier. Rentals, three-turn battles, bracket tournaments, something Nintendo probably came up with by watching a game show, cutting off Pokémon from their trainers, and dangerous quests are all thrown at you in a chance to collect all the symbols.

If you think the seven Hoenn Frontier Brains are all this set has, you've got another think coming. In Sinooh's Battle Tower lies someone known as the Tower Tycoon, and he's about as dangerous as Hoenn's Frontier Brains! Platinum surrounds this facility with four more new facilities in a new Battle Frontier, each facility with their own brains. (Just for the record, this was supposed to be the final set in the series and including only the Hoenn brains and Palmer; however, the set's been moved up and expanded to accomodate the four new Sinooh brains.)

Each of the trainers in this set have Pokémon and Trainer cards to match them. There will also be unique DS- and Wii-transmitted data that will be revealed at the end of the set! Just how unique? You'll have to wait to find out! Here are the trainers presented in this set:

This Set's Frontier Brains:

Noland
Gender: Male
Factory Head (Battle Factory, Hoenn)
Specialty: Rental Pokémon
Game Debut: Emerald
Anime Debut: Episode 411, "Numero Uno Articuno" (season 8)
Most Recent Anime Appearance: Episode 412, The Symbol Life" (season 8)
Interesting Tidbit: Like everyone else at the Battle Factory, Noland's team is unpredicatable. One person could face him for a silver symbol while he's wielding a Grovyle, a Combusken, and a Marshtomp, while another could face him for a silver symbol while he's wielding a Vaporeon, a Jolteon, and a Flareon. (Interestingly enough, Noland has zero normal Rares in this set.)

Greta
Gender: Female
Arena Tycoon (Battle Arena, Hoenn)
Specialty: Three-Turn Showdowns
Game Debut: Emerald
Anime Debut: Episode 426, "Wheel...of Frontier!" (season 9)
Most Recent Anime Appearance: Greta has made only one appearance
Interesting Tidbit: All battles between Pokémon at Battle Arena go no longer than three turns. If neither Pokémon faints before the three turns are up, the judges will score each Pokémon based on three categories (Mind, Skill, Body). The Pokémon with the most points wins. If there's a tie, sorry, both Pokémon lose.

Tucker
Gender: Male
Dome Ace (Battle Dome, Hoenn)
Specialty: Tournaments
Game Debut: Emerald
Anime Debut: Episode 430, "Tactics Theatrics" (season 9)
Most Recent Anime Appearance: Tucker has made only one appearance
Interesting Tidbit: The Battle Dome is the facility that most resembles the anime's Pokémon League tournament. There's only 16 trainers in each tournament, though.

Lucy
Gender: Female
Pike Queen (Battle Pike, Hoenn)
Specialty: Hiding Wonderful Surprises...Or Zonks
Game Debut: Emerald
Anime Debut: Episode 435, "Queen of the Serpentine" (season 9)
Most Recent Anime Appearance: Lucy has made only one appearance
Interesting Tidbit: Each of the odd-numbered rooms in the Battle Pike have three curtains. Behind each of them lies a different scenario. You'll feel like you're in an episode of Let's Make a Deal while you're here.

Spenser
Gender: Male
Palace Maven (Battle Palace, Hoenn)
Specialty: Letting Pokémon Duke It Out By Themselves
Game Debut: Emerald
Anime Debut: Episode 440, "Cutting the Ties That Bind" (season 9)
Most Recent Anime Appearance: Episode 441, "Ka Boom With A View" (season 9)
Interesting Tidbit: How a Pokémon will act at the Battle Frontier depends on its nature. It seems the Brave nature is the best nature for an all-out offensive.

Anabel
Gender: Female, though it's hard to tell at first
Salon Maiden (Battle Tower, Hoenn)
Specialty: Three-on-Three Single Battles
Game Debut: Emerald
Anime Debut: Episode 446, "Talking a Good Game" (season 9)
Most Recent Anime Appearance: Episode 447, "Second Time's the Charm" (season 9)
Interesting Tidbit: Back when Emerald first came out in Japan, many translations botched Tucker's and Anabel's genders, mistranslations that weren't rectified by some of those sources until Emerald came out in America. serebii.net, for the record, still has the mistranslations of Tucker's and Anabel's genders on the pages for their facilities, only using their correct genders in their anime bios.

Brandon
Gender: Male
Pyramid King (Battle Pyramid, Hoenn)
Specialty: Dangerous Quests
Game Debut: Emerald
Anime Debut: Episode 454, "Battling the Enemy Within" (season 9)
Most Recent Anime Appearance: Episode 597, "Pillars of Friendship" (season 12?)
Interesting Tidbit: In the anime, Ash's third sighting of Ho-Oh occured at the Battle Pyramid. However, he had been possessed in the episode in which the sighting took place.

Palmer
Gender: Male
Tower Tycoon (Battle Tower, Sinooh), Diamond/Pearl Primary Rival's Father
Specialty: Three-on-Three Level 50 Single Battles
Game Debut: Diamond/Pearl
Anime Debut: Episode 608, "Historical Mystery Tour" (season 12)
Most Recent Anime Appearance: Episode 609, "Challenging a Towering Figure" (season 12)
Interesting Tidbit: Despite the fact that Sinooh had no Battle Frontier in Diamond/Pearl, you challenge him a lot like you would a Frontier Brain (which he would later become). The requirements to face him seem to be more relaxed compared to the requirements to face Anabel...(Palmer is one of only two owners in this entire series of sets that has fourth-generation Pokémon in the Wizards-style Shining and Crystal categories.)

Argenta
Gender: Female
Hall Matron (Battle Hall, Sinooh)
Specialty: Harsh Difficulty Curves
Game Debut: Platinum
Anime Debut: Has Not Yet Appeared In The Anime
Interesting Tidbit: The Battle Hall is a facility where you can pick a type which you want to fight against from a grid. The Pokémon start out easy, but get more and more difficult as time wears on, to the point where battles are nearly impossible to win.

Thorton
Gender: Male
Factory Head (Battle Factory, Sinooh)
Specialty: Rental Pokémon
Game Debut: Platinum
Anime Debut: Has Not Yet Appeared In The Anime
Interesting Tidbit: Thorton's Battle Factory runs the same as Noland's does. Any team Thorton can wield is outright unpredictable. (Unlike Noland, however, Thorton does have some normal Rares in this set.)

Darach and Caitlin
Gender: Darach's male, Caitlin's female
Castle Valets (Battle Castle, Sinooh)
Specialty: Milking Castle Points for Services
Game Debut: Platinum
Anime Debut: Has Not Yet Appeared In The Anime
Interesting Tidbit: Are we sure the Battle Castle isn't a front for an extortion operation? Challenges at this facility require that you earn Castle Points in order to do stuff such as heal your Pokémon or equip held items, even requiring you to pay large amounts of Castle Points to gain access to the better items. At least Brandon was nice enough not to charge for stuff scattered around his facility...
Yes, Darach and Caitlin are tag brains. Chalk character limits as to why only Darach's name is displayed. If Darach was meant to be a lone brain, Caitlin wouldn't appear in the battle sprite or on the commemorative print. Any requests or suggestions to drop Caitlin from the names of their cards WILL be denied, no matter what the reason.

Dahlia
Gender: Female
Arcade Star (Battle Arcade, Sinooh)
Specialty: Special Occurences Between Battles...At Random!
Game Debut: Platinum
Anime Debut: Has Not Yet Appeared In The Anime
Interesting Tidbit: Honestly, the system Dahlia uses at her facility isn't exactly original. I betcha the bigwigs at Square Enix are meeting right now comparing the Battle Roulette's system to that of Final Fantasy VII's Battle Square, since the systems are very similar to each other. The primary difference is that Battle Square uses slots, while Battle Roulette has a cursor and 16 squares...OK, I think Square Enix just adjourned their meeting.

First, basic card rules:

1. Don't steal another person's reservation. Violators will be marked in yellow.

2. Don't ignore the set list when posting Pokémon types. For example, Tucker's Heatran is a {R} Pokémon in the set list. {M} is the wrong type for that particular Heatran in this set. Violators will be marked in purple.

3. Don't make a second copy of a card that someone else already did. There's only one copy of each card available in the set, and only the first card made counts. Violators will be marked in teal.

4. If you do part of a line, you are responsible for the entire line. Reserving part of a line counts as reserving the whole thing. For example, if you do Noland's Porygon, you are also responsible for Noland's Porygon2, Noland's Porygon-Z, and Noland's Porygon-Z ex; and if you reserve Spenser's Happiny, you have also reserved Spenser's Chansey, Spenser's Blissey, and Spenser's Blissey ex.

5. If two people attempt to reserve the same card, the first one there gets it.

6. If two people do the same card on the set list, the first one there gets the card and the second one there will be marked with an illegal duplicate violation.

7. If one person does a card before someone else reserves it, the cardmaker gets the card.

8. If one person reserves a card before someone else does it, the cardmaker will be marked for a reservation breach violation and the reserver gets the card.

9. Do not spam the thread.

10. For this set, all Pokémon with the exception of Baby Pokémon must have a minimum of one actual attack. This is to increase card quality, so we don't see cards like this one. Cards that don't meet the attack minimum will be marked in orange, and that card's creator will be asked to add at least one attack to the card. (Note that this rule does not apply to Baby Pokémon.)

11. The Pokégym CaC forum is not a shipping community. If you think a certain pair would make a good couple, keep that thought to yourself and out of this thread. People are bound to disagree with you.

Additionally, some things to consider:

Cards representing Poison-types are {G} type. They've always been {G} and always will be. Do NOT use the Delta Species Pokémon from recent and upcoming sets as leverage to try to make them {P}, your request WILL be denied.

All fossil evolutions in this set are required to evolve from Mysterious Fossil. Alternate options may be used for those that have them, but the Pokémon in question must, at the very least, be able to evolve from Mysterious Fossil. No exceptions will be made.

All Weakness and Resistance in this set works the same way regardless of the Pokémon. Double damage for Weakness, -30 damage for Resistance. No exceptions will be made.

No attack may have an Energy cost of zero Energy, and only Pokémon-ex are allowed to have more than 120 HP. No exceptions will be made.

If you're having trouble figuring out who evolves from what, take a look at a fourth-generation evolution guide I cooked up and put into this recycled thread. It will tell you just how the Pokémon line up in the fourth generation, who evolves from what, and even the Pokémon's DS types to help you figure Weakness and Resistance!

This is an early reveal of one piece of DS-transmittable data.

Remember, all Diamond/Pearl transmittable data for these this set requires Trainers' Resort have been activated. See the first piece of data for EX: Diamond & Pearl: The Wild for the data. (A piece that will allow Platinum activation will be featured later.)

This first piece of data deals with the Pokémon cards for this set. Those not compatible are Buried Fossil, all Pokémon-ex, all Pokémon-*, all Shining Pokémon, and all Crystal Pokémon; the Origin form of Giratina, the Sky form of Shaymin, and any form of Rotom aside from the normal form are also not compatible in Diamond/Pearl. To transmit this piece of data, you'll need to transmit the password on a Pokémon card to the Tajiri server, and follow that up with the universal confirmation password. The confirmation password is still "C4F-4M0-Vxx", where xx denotes a two-letter version identifier; here, DI is for Diamond, PE is for Pearl, and OP is for Platinum. Make sure the matching game is in the DS slot on your DS.

Once the piece of data is transmitted, head for the North Yield Hut in Trainers' Resort. There, you'll find the Pokémon in question. Its level depends the Pokémon's stage and Jackpot Battle status, look it up under "North Yield Hut" in the Trainers' Resort data for EX: Diamond & Pearl: The Wild. You can battle the Pokémon like you would any other wild Pokémon. In addition to its normal moves, the Pokémon will know a move it can't normally learn. That move depends on the transmission, you'll find the specific data at the bottom of each card. You can't catch more than 4 Pokémon that are banned from Jackpot Battle on any difficulty per week, which begins on either Sunday or Monday, depending on the country of origin of the Diamond/Pearl in question. You can't catch more than 1 of the same species each day.

Here's the chart of levels for reference:

If it hatches from an egg (Phione and Manaphy excepted): It will appear at level 1
If it is a Basic card in the TCG that has a pre-evolution that doesn't require incense breeding: It will appear at level 3
If it is a Stage 1 card in the TCG and doesn't evolve from a fossil: It will appear at level 3
If it is a Stage 2 card in the TCG and its Basic isn't a fossil: It will appear at level 5
If it is a Stage 2 card in the TCG and its Basic is a fossil: It will appear at level 3
If it's Unown: It will appear at level 5
If it's banned from Jackpot Battle at Lame through Easy: It will appear at level 25
If it's banned from Jackpot Battle at Lame through Medium: It will appear at level 50
If it's banned from Jackpot Battle at Lame through Hard: It will appear at level 70
If it's Arceus: It will appear at level 100

Sinooh Battle Tower
Trainer Card (Stadium Card)

Each Pokémon in play with Palmer in its name has no Weakness. Ignore all effects of this card if a card named Dual Stadium is in play.

Battle Hall
Trainer Card (Stadium Card)

All basic Energy cards attached to a Pokémon with Argenta in its name whose type (color) is the same as the Pokémon's type (color) instead provide 2 of that type (color) of Energy. Ignore all effects of this card if a card named Dual Stadium is in play.

Sinooh Battle Factory
Trainer Card (Stadium Card)

Whenever any Pokémon with Thorton in its name would be damaged by an attack, that Pokémon's owner may roll 1 6-sided die. That player shuffles their hand into their deck and draws a number of cards equal to the value of the die. Players can't use this card's effect more than once in this way. Ignore all effects of this card if a card named Dual Stadium is in play.

Battle Castle
Trainer Card (Stadium Card)

If a player has 2 or more Pokémon in play with Darach and Caitlin in its name, ignore any effect that would put any of that player's cards in play (excluding Pokémon-SP cards, SP Energy cards, cards with δ on its card, δ Rainbow Energy cards, and {D} Pokémon cards with Dark or Rocket in its name whose Resistance isn't {P}) into that player's Lost Zone. Ignore all effects of this card if a card named Dual Stadium is in play.

Battle Arcade
Trainer Card (Stadium Card)

Whenever any effect on a card with Dahlia in its name requires that player to roll any number of dice, that player may first flip up to 2 coins. Then, after the dice are rolled, add the number of heads to the total value of the dice. Ignore all effects of this card if a card named Dual Stadium is in play.
For the record, this effect is intended to work with not just Pokémon with Dahlia in its name, but Trainer cards as well.

The "if evolved" part of Quick Play Stages is worded as is would allow any effect that copies Poké-BODies on an evolved Pokémon use anything underneath them. Even if it's Anabel Snorlax itself using the power, there's more than one Anabel's Munchlax to choose from to get an effect: one from the Battle Frontier Promo set (itself a reprint of a Single Pokémon Set card) can contribute a different mechanic than the Anabel's Munchlax in this set.
