Fast Food / Restaurants close to Americas Center?

My hotel is right across the street from the Americas Center, and I will be on my own for the most part with no car. That means that if I get hungry, I will have to eat somewhere inside the Americas Center or somewhere close outside it.

For those that live in St. Louis and know the area, what food attractions are there around it?

Food

I have been looking for fast food places in the area as well. So far all I have found is a Subway in Laclede's Landing. That is one subway stop from the America's Center. You could probably walk there as well.

The only other fairly cheap place I have found is TGI Friday's . It is near Kiener Plaza. This is about 5 blocks from the America's Center. You could take the subway, but you would still have to walk about 3 blocks.

If anyone knows of a McDonalds or Burger King close by that would be great to know.

I'll probably just pick me up about 10 $1 cheeseburgers on the way down, and stash them in the refrig in the hotel when I get there.

I did a search for "food" within 2500 feet of the Center, and Google gave me over 900 results. There'll be stuff within walking distance of the center.

I don't live in St. Louis but I've visited the downtown area a few times. There are a ton of restaurants around there since it's a major tourism area. Laclede's Landing a few blocks east has a bunch. You can take the Metrolink over to Union Station about half a mile away and find a bunch more. And you'll find plenty of local stuff just walking the streets.

One place I would highly recommend just a few blocks away is Planet Sub. It's a regional sub chain that blows Subway and Blimpie clear out of the water.

Also, if you want to pretend you're still in Columbus, there's a Max and Erma's down there as well.

I recommend doing what bullados did and just explore an area map.

we've been out and about and only have come across a few bistros and quiznos. quiznos is only open till 7pm and closed on the weekend. it is on olive st between 6th&7th.

we found a downtown visitors guide in the hotel vending room. You can walk to most places but NOT on a time crunch.

There is a pizza place i always go to after my internship down the street on the 12th, also make sure your kids check out the city museum and the world aquarium.

for those of you in need of caffeine: there is a starbucks directly across the street from the main entrance to america's center. cross the street using the crosswalk in the middle of the block and there is an unmarked door (the main entrance/signage is around the corner).

The lack of OPEN nearby restaurants was definitely a disappointment. There was ONE restaurant in the convention center. Seriously! Everything else was blocks away which was not fun in 90+ degrees and most of the things were closed on the weekend. I'm very, very glad that we brought a cooler and bread and sandwich fixings all the way from Ohio....

Yeah.. last night on Master's dinner break we walked a few steamy blocks to Hardees and they closed at 9pm literally as we got there. Luckily there was a TGI Fridays on the opposite corner. They took care of us fast and had good food. If they hold the event here again, I think there must be some local vendors that would see supporting the event as an opportunity.

I have gone to TGIF's for the past few years to get the kid meals. They usually have enough food on them for an adult. Sometimes I order from the to go area and sometimes from the bar. If its from the Bar it is a tad slower but if they think they are going to get tipped they throw in extras. This one stiffed me on the kid milks and then got disappionted when I diddn't tipp more than $2 for a $12 bill. But the food was still fast and great but the 6 block walk in the heat minus the 70 degree block that I cut into Macy's made time a tight fit into the day. Still it was better than Columbus. I'm thinking Ice Chest for next year for where ever it is, But come to DFW and you won't be disappointed. Grapevine area will make it the best ever and look for new records.

The food issue, if we go back to the STL will be addressed for next year.

I am already making contingency plans just in case (crosses fingers)...but having it here this year was too cool.

Thanks to all who travelled down (or up, or across!)

You call that a restaurant ?
Hopefully the next location will be scouted out beforehand for food in and around and other amenities.

yeah 1200+ players scattering around trying to find Lunch was not the best thought out plan. From what I heard POP didn't give a set amount of people that were planning to attend, so when the Convention Center sent the information to surrounding business's, the attendance was labeled as 'TBA' or To Be Announced. This is Code for 100-300 people. This was not a thought out plan on POP's part. I mean they knew they were going to get a lot of people. Space was also a issue, and I think they need a larger room for the Event. I don't think it being a 'Fire Code Violation' due to the amount of players, makes St Louis the best choice.
