Faster than the Speed of Gyarados

What is Gyarados's average number of turns taken to get a 90+ damage Tail Revenge? Mine takes three turns on average. Is this normal? Is this slow? How fast should Gyarados set up? Would the addition or subtraction of strters help?

That seems okay, I think a T2 90+ would be ideal, but T3 seem fine. Depends what deck your facing though. Is your Regice getting sprayed or no?

T1-T3.

For T1 there's an INSANE start with collector/bts/uxies for 5~7 etc.
For T2 I usually lead Sableye and do a standard set up.
For T3 Sableye usually leads too, but I hit worse off my opening hand.

No, I've been playing solitaire. :( So I guess mine is pretty slow. My runs have been like this:
3
3
3
2
3
4
infinity (my azelf and 4th karp is prized)

out of 6 times i tried

turn (all considering if i go second)
1
1
1
2
2
2

the turn 2s, i usually hit 60 turn one because i cant get it in the discard.

I don't use sableye or smeargle and I usually get set up T1, or T2 if I don't draw a BTS(only have two).
I just have a high trainer count and take the auto loss to vileplume.

I go for 120 damage and get 4 Magikarps in the discard, but then I have a ton of trouble getting Gyarados out I've noticed.

you dont need smeargle or sableye starts.
players around PA area plays a totally different style of gyarados build.
it will beat most other smaergle start builds.

I'm curious how players in PA run the deck at this point. When I played in Hanover, I saw a ton of Gyarados but I was the only one not running Sableye if I remember correctly, and even I was running 2 Smeargle, I think.

EDIT: Oh, you're right in that I didn't rely on a Sableye/Smeargle start. But I was under the impression that most people did rely on Sableye as a starter.

No starter is good because it usually means T1 Dos if you go second with collector. However you are so much more donkable now. If you don't want sableye or smeargle then try something with free retreat like jirachi maybe.

lol, I just realized, it you would have said this when SF was released and up until Worlds, everyone would have agreed with you !

I tried that once w/ Young Jorge and I didn't think it was that good the no starter part that is. And doesn't Jirachi have to die to do anything? (Pliz correct me if I'm worng but why would you want to start Jirachi because if you are trying to get T1 dos most of the time and your Jirachi prbably wont get T1ed especially because you have to go 1st to get T1 dos just sayin I'm probably thinking of the wrong Jirachi LOL but yeh correct me if I'm wrong
