Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Format Change for Next Year - Possible Change for Nats and Worlds!

Sabledonk: I have a friend who has been testing it already. Successfully killed a Reshiram and a benched tepig on the first turn of the game. XD He doesn't even run Unown D and runs 4 special dark as his only energy. It is freaking insane. They are talking about banning Sableye after Battle Roads regardless, if sabledonk proves prevalent. We'll have to wait and see!

my two cents....

everyone is talking about how great is going to be this modified hgss-on format...but no one has said a single word about the fact that POP is rotating 7 sets at once...and this is like historic... 7 SETS IN A ROW..... i remember a few years ago when they rotated 5 sets and everyone was almost quitting the game, because of the money loss that they were abruptely thrown into...i hope that this new format lasts at least 2 seasons...otherwise this is going to make a lot of players leave the game in my country...

i believe the reason ppl are not makinga big fuss bout the 7 sets being rotated is the fact that ppl r tired of sp decks and such always doing good and such and with sableye under the black and white rules is a broken card rite now im just happy that they r doing this to HGSS=on

But how long have these cards been available for use compared to past rotations? Majestic Dawn was released in May 21, 2008. It's May 2, 2011. That's 3 years.

It was historic when TPCi chose to not rotate anything for the DP-on format. Anyone who didn't suspect a major rotation sometime after that was kidding themselves.

Toxic, it's already been said that TPCi expected to go with a different rotation before the gameplay changes associated with the Black and White set were known. What that rotation was to be, we can only guess (mine is RR-on, but I'm probably wrong). But to say that a big rotation was inevitable after the no rotation DP-on is simply a misrepresentation of what's been presented in this thread.

That being said, I don't expect to see a rotation next year, given the phrasing of the announcement from the DP-on rotation a couple of years ago. TPCi seems to want to keep the format big, with lots of cards available. I believe their hand was forced by the rule change. My hope is that they continue following the Japanese block rotation from here on out, as the cards are designed with that block rotation in mind.

And, holy cow, wasn't it horrible to have so many cards in the card pool? I thought so anyway. I always look forward to September rotations because creativity gets a huge shot in the arm. Yes, we always lose something good but that limited card pool causes the deck builders to get creative. They live for that, get excited and pass that excitement on to the rest of us. It's all good.

I am looking forward to a fresh start, HGSS on. Just my opinion but even the idea of a rotation right before NATS has supercharged the excitement about deck building again. It has been SO stale, SO boring. Build a deck? Nah, add another tech to Luxchomp and good to go? *YAWN* donk, be donked, mirror match, mirror match, donk, donk, donk, mirror match, *YAWN*, (insert stale metadeck here) wins.

Fingers crossed, rotation to HGSS on the eve of NATS. Let the deck building begin. :thumb::thumb:

Man this is like woah o: it's like i got what i wanted xD now I can finally get into the game again and t=begin to dominate :3 good thing i started when i did, or else I'd be like a super noob at pkmn :p

And maybe my new secret deck which people never helped me with will own next format >.> watch out! ohhh dayum :3

>.> let's just say that fire types can get ohko'd be me soon o.o

I've been testing it and I only run 1 energy and 1 supporter. I can clear 3 total 80 HP Pokemans on turn 1. The hardest thing I have run into is to actually start Sableye - I start just over half the time (I run 4 obviously).

How many BR will there be before June 1 for Pokemon to make the decision to rotate early or not?

It's not "June 1st" when the rotation will be announced.

It's "early June".

The final day of US Battle Roads is June 12th.

If there's going to be a July 1 rotation, I'd expect the announcement to be at some point during the week of June 13th.

Sorry, my bad. That makes more sense. :D

Thats awfully late. People need to be buying, building, and playtesting in the format of the event. You can't properly prepare for two formats. Right now, good luck trying to find someone willing to test with you for MD-BW.

Last year, it seems like they learned from announcing the date/location of Nats way too late. This year, we had a timely announcement with the result of people having a hard time getting hotels.

This year, we're learning a different lesson.

I'm looking forward to Nats 2012.

smart players should have been doing this already

So I think that since they said early june, we should know by now. Waiting until after BR end, while I can understand why they would, completly defeats the purpose of saying early june. They should of said mid to late june.

Just wanting to hear something soon though.

If taking their sweet time helps them choose to rotate, I'm all for waiting a little longer.
