Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Garch's second place CC report. Garchomp IS good.

Togechomp is a solid deck, and doesn't get the credit it deserves. Maybe its just because of the hype surrounding the newer cards to be released.

I think the failure of Garchomp was more public perception than it is the deck itself. A lot of people are wary about the ability of a deck running 2 or more stage 2s that aren't branch evolutions. The hype around the deck and its level X was also at its highest before its release instead of when the cards were actually playable. So, when it failed to appear in the set people thought it was going to be in, people looked at other ideas. I agree with you nnaann, I think some of it is people looking forward at the upcoming ideas, instead of looking back and reviewing the old. It just became unfashionable to play Garchomp before it even had its time to shine.

That and the fact that its easy as heck to counter if you know its going to be played...

So, teching against one player?? (Kenton is the Garchomp master!) Yeah, that'll typically get you into a top cut!

I think Darthpika meant that if it gains any kind of popularity in the metagame, it is easily teched against.

Although, if the road to 1st is through Kenton, you may want to tech against him eventhough he is only one player.

I need to remember to mapquest the store before I leave the house. I'd do it now, but... eh.

Yes, thats exactly what I meant. And even if its only 1 player, yes, I'll tech against him.

He moves a counter to my Garchomp with full moon dance, then sits back to ponder if I have a fire energy and a plus power. Due to Abomasnows body I need a Plus Power to KO it. He goes for it, and attacks with below zero. I do have the fire and 2 plus powers. We are the last game to end. VERY good game. Darth Pika hated me the whole day after that, and took every opportunity to let me know that.

Heh. That sounds pretty accurate, actually.

Bad matchup in the finals, but it's to be expected when you're running Garchomp. Nice job on the day.

Haha, funny that you mention that totoro, because I'm teching against Dean and Steven specifically in my deck!

Go ahead, I don't care at all, have fun doing that :thumb:

Also, did I meet you at nats or worlds?

Have you met dean in person yet?

Nice job kenton, Mcdonalds was FUN LIKE CRAZY, garchomp is the play for you.
