good animes to watch

Ya, I have seen all of the Dragon Ball Z, and the very first tournament in dragonball. I own all of dragonball but stopped watching at the ice castle part. Hope to finish some time :p

didn't anyone here watch the best Anime EVER, Code Geass????
Anyways,
other really good animes I have watched are Baccano, Death note,Angel Beats, Fate Zero, Fate Stay Night,Brotherhood,FMA original and a few others I can't reclall atm

btw,
@desufnoc
Fates are tournaments, but most likely not what you are looking for

Yes.

Code Geass was one of the first anime I found on my own and I loved it. I still do.

But there are better anime. Which I never really thought I'd say.

CG is still one of my favorites, but I think its near the bottom of my favorites now.

My girlfriend just got me to start watching Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica, and I'm hooked right now. Other ones that I have found to be enjoyable are Claymore and Angel Beats which are both on Netflix.

Madoka is so excellent. I have gotten quite a few friends into watching it. I can't wait for the finale on Wednesday!

I did like Claymore, it was decent. Unfortunately it didn't measure up to the manga. The manga is much superior in every way. Though I've never seen Angel Beats.

I'm sure FLCL has been mentioned.

Why do you think it is the best anime however? Is it your favorite, or do you really think it is the best period?

Yeah, I wish to forget that I watched the last few episodes of Claymore, and just remember what happened in the Manga. I highly recommend you go watch Angel Beats though. The end man.... the ending is so beautiful.

i think there will be no other anime like it because the animation was the best i have ever seen along with the art in my opinion, when they dubbed it it sounded best in english than in japanese , the monsters and character where so well done , the story was fabulous even though you had to watch it like 5 times to actually get the story line and i could keep on going for days about how great this anime is so yeah the best period

One of the things I find about Code Geass is that it's a perfectly fine anime as long as you don't think about it too hard. Once you do, you start seeing all the plot holes and bad writing. For me it falls into the category of anime that I kinda liked when I first saw it, but would never want to go back and rewatch or involve myself with in any way.

Then again, my taste in anime is... uh... pretty different than the other people in this thread.

Really? I'm surprised that you think that the animation and art of FLCL was the best you've ever seen. Have you not seen Miyazaki films or the Evangelion Z.ZZ films?
Full Metal Panic! also had excellent art, despite being an average show otherwise. The art of FLCL was, to be honest, bad, at many places, even dipping into still "manga" style or even South Park references. I find it strange you feel that FLCL had the best artwork that you've ever seen.

About Dubs/Subs, I do agree that a good Dub is good. However a good dub is only a single part of a good show (Yu Yu Hakusho, Ghost in the Shell, Cowboy Bebop, and Monster had FANTASTIC dubs).

I'm glad that you've decently articulated your thoughts, but I don't know if you have enough evidence to call it the "best anime period." There are heavy contenders to that title, and I don't think FLCL can stand up to them.

Your thoughts are similar to mine, however I still find I can go back and rewatch it. There are some detracting points that I fully admit, but I still find it to be a fun and very enjoyable show.

Different taste is perfectly fine to have. :thumb:

Well, when I say "different taste," I mean stuff like Revolutionary Girl Utena and Chevalier d'Eon are among my favourite anime. The latter especially is one of those shows that you can't describe to other people without making it sound ridiculously bizarre (awesome, mind you, but still bizarre).

Though for something a bit more mainstream, I really liked Black Butler. I went in expecting an average anime, and I admit after a few episodes I was fangirling over Sebastian.

thanks, i will be checking some of those anime very soon as for cowboy bebop its pretty close to my favorite anime also, i dont know i think i just like the randomness fooly cooly brought its just something i never saw on an anime before but then again i havent watched tons of anime

@Marill
if it is okay with ya, why not tell me the loop holes you felt in CG, I didn't really see any too big.

The problem I had with it was that the plot was contrived to the point where it was obviously going for style over substance in a rather brainless way. All of R2 kind of suffered like that, culminating in the utter contrivance that was the Zero Requiem plotline (Lelouch seems to be better at the "just as planned" thing than Light Yagami, and that's saying something). Everything felt more like an excuse to have flashy battles and larger-than-life villains rather than anything attempting a solid story. A lot of plot elements were just kind of there for the sake of being there without much regard for how they affected the plot as a greater whole, resulting in some pretty weak writing at times.

The short of it is that it's a show aimed at teenage boys, and I'm neither of those things.

Although I've never seen FLCL, so I don't know how this compares to it, I saw a video review a while back of a show called Panty And Stocking With Garterbelt that looks like it's pretty promising in the "random humour" department, and I'm actually going to check it out once I finish the series I'm currently on. You might be interested in it too.

I just noticed it earlier in the list to see if it was mentioned, but I recently went through Deadman Wonderland. I saw the first episode on the new Toonami block then in the next two days did the remaining 11 episodes. I've heard the manga is amazing and after digging the anime I'll go back in to reading it. I won't toss the anime any sort of best anime ever line, but it drew me in. From my understanding the manga is better than the anime and most people that read the manga aren't huge fans of the anime.

I think one of the best put thoughts about it was that it's extremes and at times a bit too unbelievable. Don't get me wrong I mentioned Durarara! earlier which features a headless horseman, but the way they painted it out she didn't seem a huge stretch of the imagination. The way some of the interactions in Deadman Wonderland work they just didn't make much sense.

The anime isn't for the squeamish, but if you're ok with a large amount of blood and death you'll likely enjoy it. Don't get me wrong here it's not just a hack and slash anime, and the violence mostly serves a purpose (however excessive it can get.)
