How to AVOID Warnings/Infractions when you Post

No, its a G rating for "Galactic's Permission". If Cyrus' kids can handle it, you're good.

QFT, I once criticized someone's bad deck combination, Flygon/Hippo but with good points. Then I got an infraction, even someone else in the thread noticed I was making points, yet I got an infraction. Ridiculous.

Chris, if I recall, your good points are usually accompanied by searing heat.
Drop the heat, keep the good points, and you're in business.

Making a guide for not getting infractions on the gym is like making a guide for how to live without breathing. Its just not possible.

^ Thats a laugh. There's bound to be people who've not gotten any infractions/warnings.

Warnings are given for things often done by accident. There is absolutely no shame in getting a Warning. With an infraction, you were probably told before to stop, and you didn't. I've never recieved a Warning, but that's because I was lucky and played it safe. If your constantly getting infractions, it's because you need to ABIDE by the rules, and not just assume that if you fudge a little after being told to stop, it'll be okay. You also need to adjust from your other boards you go on, to the PG setting on the 'gym. I understand it's hard for those who are used to a larger tolerance of language and unnecessary horseplay, but if the adjustment is as hard as not breathing, then(no offense) you're beyond the help any infractions can give, and should just leave or ask for a perma-ban.

Rogue Archtype = Best Mod Ever. All of his posts are always the best and always brighten up my day. Congratulations, you have won the entire forums :)

Ia question. Let's say that I have experience with medical, accounting, and meat, and I make a topic in the RNG. Would that give me a warning? Ok let's say this that I tell everyone in the topic that I was a doctor, a CPA, and a professional cook. Would that be considered too much info about my life? Oh, i made a typo. i put in RNG up there and it's suppossed to be RTC.

Well why would you even make a topic in the first place just to tell people that? It would be locked as spam anyway. But if you made a topic having to do with your profession(say, maybe you have a question about it) then obviously you would have to share that, and it'd probably be okay. It's when you're advertising your personal website, contact information, and that time you got that rash in an awkward spot that it becomes too much information about yourself.

Thank you. I just wanted to check some things. You ask why I would make that a topic in the first place. I wouldn't. I was using that as an example that's all.

Very, very good post. There are a few things that I've wondered about that have been clarified here, and, as a mod on other sites, I understand the position you're coming from. A few questions, though.

• Is the word "freakin'" allowed? I know it's a bit of a specific question, but I posted a "reference to profanity" (taken from the infraction I was given) that was along the same lines.

• Will posting "*****" get you an infraction? To clarify, since you can't see this when viewing the post, I just typed in those asterisks. There's no word there. I mean, are asterisks allowed?

Thanks.

As far as I know, "freakin" has been an acceptable word, but I'm not positive. The censors don't catch it, and in the past I THINK we've allowed.

Depends on your infractions in the past. You'd probably get a Warning if it was evident what the word was, what with the context and all. Even if you don't say a specific word, if you use it to substitute for profanity, don't. Now unless it's used for one of the above, asterisks are okay to use, as far as I know. I hope this helps.

i actually wouldn't use asterisks, as that is what the board filters convert disallowed words to...

'mom

Well I think he meant asterisks for like singular use, but yes I agree, obviously don't use like 4 together in a sentence.

1) Even if you know the censors will catch it and it want to just let it come out as "xX *", don't do it. You'll still get warned/infracted. We don't know what you said. It could have been anything.

Wait, I'm confused... If I type in a curse word and the filter DOES catch it and it appears as asterisks on the forum, I'll still get an infraction?
G rating? What's this about a G rating?

Did the rules change it from PG to G?
I was wondering the same thing...

Or just a Warning, depending on your past record.

I was wondering the same thing...

Well technically we are PG, but if some of you want to keep it G, that'd be great! :thumb:

Wow, I didn't know that. That information might have saved me a future infraction, in that case.

Anyway, I forgot to congratulate Rogue Archetype on his EPIC post. Congrats!!

With regards to the rule on profanity, I would suggest that this be clarified for the users, perhaps even with a text file of the profanity list being made publicly available for viewing (made as an attachment to the first post of this thread, for instance). If there was something non-US centric posters could consult to make sure we're not offending peoples sensibilities accidentally, it'd certainly help.

To demonstrate my point...I've previously received a warning here for using a four letter word beginning with h and ending with two l's, in the phrase "annoying as (insert that word here)", and had the moderator actually outright delete the post when giving me the warning. As a fellow Pokémon webmaster, I would not consider that word as offensive to our fandom, given that it's actually been used in the English dub of the anime, as well as in other dubs of childrens programming by companies such as 4Kids (who are generally considered to over-edit and "kiddify" what they have licensed by the general anime fandom community). Now granted, I may be a bit biased here, given that Bulbagarden has traditionally been fairly loose and carefree with regards to profanity (we don't even use a filter on our forums whatsoever), but I don't think I'm the only person here who could be easily caught by things like this. There's a number of words that may be considered profane in certain vocal segments of America that most certainly are not here in Australia, or in other English speaking countries.

That word has been modified off the list. It was a bit too strict. But is still infraction worthy if used against a person.
