G rating? What's this about a G rating?
Appropriate for church gangsters only.
G rating? What's this about a G rating?
QFT, I once criticized someone's bad deck combination, Flygon/Hippo but with good points. Then I got an infraction, even someone else in the thread noticed I was making points, yet I got an infraction. Ridiculous.
Ia question. Let's say that I have experience with medical, accounting, and meat, and I make a topic in the RNG. Would that give me a warning? Ok let's say this that I tell everyone in the topic that I was a doctor, a CPA, and a professional cook. Would that be considered too much info about my life? Oh, i made a typo. i put in RNG up there and it's suppossed to be RTC.
Very, very good post. There are a few things that I've wondered about that have been clarified here, and, as a mod on other sites, I understand the position you're coming from. A few questions, though.
• Is the word "freakin'" allowed? I know it's a bit of a specific question, but I posted a "reference to profanity" (taken from the infraction I was given) that was along the same lines.
• Will posting "*****" get you an infraction? To clarify, since you can't see this when viewing the post, I just typed in those asterisks. There's no word there. I mean, are asterisks allowed?
Thanks.
1) Even if you know the censors will catch it and it want to just let it come out as "xX *", don't do it. You'll still get warned/infracted. We don't know what you said. It could have been anything.
I was wondering the same thing...G rating? What's this about a G rating?
Did the rules change it from PG to G?
Wait, I'm confused... If I type in a curse word and the filter DOES catch it and it appears as asterisks on the forum, I'll still get an infraction?
I was wondering the same thing...
With regards to the rule on profanity, I would suggest that this be clarified for the users, perhaps even with a text file of the profanity list being made publicly available for viewing (made as an attachment to the first post of this thread, for instance). If there was something non-US centric posters could consult to make sure we're not offending peoples sensibilities accidentally, it'd certainly help.
To demonstrate my point...I've previously received a warning here for using a four letter word beginning with h and ending with two l's, in the phrase "annoying as (insert that word here)", and had the moderator actually outright delete the post when giving me the warning. As a fellow Pokémon webmaster, I would not consider that word as offensive to our fandom, given that it's actually been used in the English dub of the anime, as well as in other dubs of childrens programming by companies such as 4Kids (who are generally considered to over-edit and "kiddify" what they have licensed by the general anime fandom community). Now granted, I may be a bit biased here, given that Bulbagarden has traditionally been fairly loose and carefree with regards to profanity (we don't even use a filter on our forums whatsoever), but I don't think I'm the only person here who could be easily caught by things like this. There's a number of words that may be considered profane in certain vocal segments of America that most certainly are not here in Australia, or in other English speaking countries.
