How to build a successful SP Pokemon Deck

Sableye SF should also be a Starter.

Overeager + Impersonate allows you to Use a Cyrus's Conspiracy effect first turn. If you search for Roseanne's Research and SP-Rader you can basically have any 3 SP pokemon set up Turn 2, including a Lv. X

Porygon2 GE should also be mentioned under general support. With Floatzel GL getting you two supporters back, Porygon2 should be consistently able to allow 2 Supporters a turn.

Dusknoir isn't really a factor in SP Decks. Floatzel GL allows them to recover so quickly as to render the point moot.

The scariest thing about SP Decks is they're essentially the new Haymaker. You can use a combination of any 6 SP cards and have few difficulties, especially since SP Energy can serve as the lone typed energy required for the attack.

I'm surprised Palka G Lv.X isn't mentioned as Support.

Lost Cyclone Poke-Power is Dusknoir's Dark Palm on steroids, removing large benches from play rather than back to the deck. Only other SP Deck's stand against it, since they can cancel the power with Power Spray.

SP Decks are going to be everywhere. It's an insane amalgam of Haymaker, Lock, and Damage Swap.

Thanks Regis Neo

Deck Knight, I added my thoughts of Sableye, Porygon2 and Palkia.

I wish Floatzel helped vs Dusknoir, but Floatzel only keeps water types alive.

I didn't get anything out of that article that I couldn't have read from a set spoiler =\

Then I guess you did realize the combos with Alakazam 4 Lv. X, Gyarados G/Turtwig GL and Poketurn

Very nice article. :thumb:

I have already built my first SP deck and I am ready to battle.

BTW, who is this is Prime? Why is he always complaining?:frown:

Ok, states machamp and kingdra will win, maybe some rhyperior. There isn't enough SP goodness for it to be viable at the moment.
Maybe after flints and bertha's comes out but not now.

You obviously haven't been looking hard enough.

Pretty good article. The only problem is you can't attach Unown G and Energy Gain to an SP Pokemon (except Toxicroak G).

Prime is a forum mod.

Let me now how the deck works. Good Luck with it

I know, I can't stand that either.

At first I thought that since GUARD says nothing about not attaching it if there is another tool. I think I'm wrong, but let me know either way

This is just the rough draft. Post any, and all, comments. The good copy is going to have pictures and matchups for each deck. Come Bonds, and this will be the best SP deck building guide in the gym.

For alakazam support you could add either golem 4 or the TM. They both have an attack that does damage equal to the number of damage counters.

Thanks. I do want to add Golem, but I'm also going to look for an extra supporter that helps in Luxray, Gallade, Raichu and Infernape before I add Golem to Alakazam. Don't worry, I didn't forget your idea.

Small correction for you:
Weavile G does 70 damage if you have a bench full of SP.

The cards text says "Does 10 damage plus 10 more damage for each Pokemon SP you have in play."
5SP on Bench + 1SP Active(Weavile G) = 6SP.
10+60=70

Even with that, it'd only do 80. Still, 80 for 2 is not bad at all. But you have to have Claydol and/or Uxie, so you probably won't be doing 70/80 that often.

I'm thinink that alot of people won't be playing Uxie or Claydol, or any NON-G techs whatsoever.
Then you're thinking wrong. Claydol is a waste in SP decks though, but uxie is a must.
Not really fast enough in the current format...
Are you kidding? SP decks are t1-2 decks AND they slow down other decks at least 1-2 turns. Thats amazing. :/
Not to mention dusknoir probably didn't evolve to stage 1 considering the format, also he WANTS to die so you're taking damage between turns, which would also bump your broken time space and how does gallade ignore any effects?
And gallade still kills dusknoir so you're still taking 10 on each between turns. Also, if dusknoir doesn't kill it on the bench, he's a ohko on gallade who's weak against him.
Then the dusknoir gets tmed-01 and gets more damage from GHQ.
Thats fine. I'll take 20 damage (though I'll just scoop it up anyways) and then counter your dusknoir and start it all over again. Of course, since galatic decks have dozens of plays around dusknoir's power, I don't even see this being an issue.

Machamp is horrible, espically with BST out now. There's plenty of good SP pokemon out there and the essential trainers are there. :/
You obviously haven't been looking hard enough.
People will never like castaway decks, huh? Nearly every SP pokemon out there (besides purugly and maybe palkia) is playable and is a pretty good attacker in its own respect.

lol some of the G pokemon u guys picked can work, you guys know all the match ups??? highs...lows???? whats the Gs weak point????

I dont know any matchups, although SP decks can counter most decks with high speed.

I can guess some if you want, (just post yes or no)

As for scans, I did say this is a rough draft right? I will be adding card scans when we get Bonds scans. But since I can only place 20 pictures, which 20 cards should I put scans of when Bonds comes?

I'll let you guys decide

I put decklists up in the Deck Help Forum. Let me know what you think,

Nice article. If/when they reprint Windstorm or something else that can discard Unown G, the top 10 decks will be changing daily as the various players add the card. SP pokemon will be hurting the most.
Now for something real:
Aerodactyl from "Bonds to the End of Time" only prevents them from Evolving their Active, or rather, the Defending Pokemon. This means that all they have to do is retreat and they can evolve as much as they want. A well-timed Warp Point lets them Evolve and dumps Aerodactyl on the Bench, where he is effectively useless.
Other than that, great job with the article. Most people ignore the sets that aren't out yet. Finally someone is acknowledging that the Japanese sets are actually going to be English in a matter of months!
Thanks!

-Edit-

It would be nice if you post spoilers considering we technically haven't even gotten platium.

Look at the Japanese cards. They're out over there. And if for some reason you can't read Japanese, I'm sure you'll be able to find translations somewhere on the web. (*hint- rhymes with "peach")
