"I only send to the US" - Why?

The main fear is being unable to do anything about overseas traders. In the US, there is something that can be done WRT domestic frauders. "Mail Fraud" is an imperfect system, but it's something that protects people from fraudulent people through the mail. If you're sending overseas, then you don't get that protection.

Also, a lot of people use Registered Mail, or some other means of tracking, in order to protect themselves. The fees for that kind of tracking more than double for overseas packages. It's hard enough paying the $2.50 for the registered mail. It's a LOT tougher paying over $5.00 for a similar trade.

I'm kinda curious to hear your side of this as do you know what has to be done to make a mail fraud claim? I know alot of people threaten others with it because they got ripped off of $10 - $20 worth of cards but I honestly don't think anyone really knows the time and work you have to put into doing a mail fraud claim! I was one of those until I actually asked what steps I have to do it is is not worth the time of day trust me. You have to contact your local police department and open a claim with them and then get the poper forms and fill them out and mail them away and by the time you are all done that $10 - $20 of cards is now worth $50 - $100! And IMO it is a huge waste of time. I wanted to do this for a power seller on ebay , and which I will add is still a powerseller and has even moer negative feedback now, and what they said to do was absolutely worthless for a $18 empoleon Lv.X at the time. My best thing was to give him negative feedback, which I got in return. and I even went the extra mile and emailed thosewho bid and warned them what he did and even email them the emails where he claims to have received my money and was going to tell ebay that he didn't and they actually believe him as I can see he is still selling.....

Funny thing about the mail. . . .I've traded with Ardoptres, in Denmark, right? Took about 4 days. Every trade I've ever had with somone in Canada, you know, that big country just to the north of us, took over 2 weeks.

You gotta remember it works that way both ways.It is a really stupid process they call customs.....

You know, the whole "I pay more" argument seems a bit moot to me. After all, your trade partnerr also pays more, right?

Ooh, that's something I also have to comment on. I traded with Ardoptres once, I think it was when he was still new - awesomely, awesomely fast post. \o/ I have to say the Denmark postal system must be great.

Well heres my reason I have done business with Canada 5 times and all 5 times had bad experiences. It is harder to ship overseas and person is more likely to say oh my stuff got lost.

Lol. Just lol. You think people outside the US is less reliable then people within the US??
I've had bad experiences with Canada too. But it doesn't mean I think EVERY other country than Denmark is a nono to send to.
That's just stupid.

Oh, yeah, I didn't mean in any way to imply that it was the fault of the trader. I've traded with several different people in Canada, and it's the same thing every time. Just an oddity, I suppose.

People don't send overseas because it costs more, is less reliable and takes longer. It doesn't matter if it only costs $0.50 more. If the person trading doesn't want to do overseas they don't have to. And the more postal services the cards go through the bigger chance there is of them getting lost.

How much is a "ton" to you?

$0.10.

jk

It depends on where it's going. Also I rly don't usaly have to go far to get the cards I need considering that I live in the same states asPokemonforever, and ShawofMordor is only a few states away. I just get all the cards I need from them.

Thats.....comforting. I was beginning to worry. Its been almost or a little over 2 weeks since I sent those cards.... You have to remember, a good fraction of the people you trade with are kids. Some kids don't get a big allowance. Money can be more valuable to them. And as someone said, if you need a card quick, its probably best that you don't send where you know it might take to long.

speaking from experience, Mike, for whatever reason, when I trade with Canadians, they get my cards super fast but I normally experience a long delay in receiving their cards

Because Kosovo wasn't the best place to send or receive cards from, last time I checked. ;P

But seriously, lots of people don't do it 'cause they think it's a hassle.

Well I have never sent to Denmark, but I have sent overseas and it is always bad. if I buy from overseas it is usuall japan or a Far East Country.

Just my expierences sorry.

I actually have no problem trading overseas. I don't mind the wait. The extra cost isn't too bad. If my cards are foreign, i'll just use a CardDex. It's just my mom won't let me trade overseas =P

I know it would divert you from trading with us trustworthy Canadians but that is your choice. I myself have had many many bad trades go wrong from the US and world wide so it is really not Canada alone. I believe my worst rip off was from pokemon211 and Havoc, both long time trading friends and well I guess it came down to they needed my cards and figured I didn't need their cards/money??? But it does not detour me from trading with people in the US otherwise my trading would be preeeetty boring.

I myself don't mind the extra wait as I trade in advance for stuff we need for our decks, You will never see in my title "I need cards for states in 6 days!!!" (our provincials of course being one of those good Canadian players.) SO really if you can't afford the extra postage or time that is cool I can deal with people not anting to send outside their country but one thing you must remember is when you really need something sooooo bad you need to resort to trading out of your country remember those foreigners you have turned down when they needed something of yours and they now have what you need soooooooo bad.:thumb:

P.S, this was not directed at homeofmew in any way it was just a reply to the topic and thought I would make a little funny in my first line.

Since when is Canada overseas? lol.

Cost doesn't bother me; I don't trade overseas anymore because I've made three trades (even checked refs), two of which I never received and one didn't get here in time for Nationals (and then was rotated out of the format =/). It's not always the senders fault, but I don't think anyone can say that sending overseas is just as reliable as sending in the US. Risk doesn't seem to outweigh the gain in my opinion, as there are many people I can trade with in the US, purchase from or even borrow from.

Of course, if I know the person I am dealing personally/moderately well, or through a friend, then I might be more willing to take the chance.
