Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Indiana State Championships March 17, 2012

I have never heard PTO's doing that before. Very interesting. I will not be playing unless I can get something in my Zekrom EX tin so I hope I can get my hands on the dice,

They've done this a couple of times. I remember them doing this a couple years ago for Regionals and States. Most TOs and PTOs running Premier level events that I've worked with provide some form of door prizes for their tournaments. Some more generous than others.

What other things have they done besides dice and promo cards?

What other things have they done besides dice and promo cards?

A short list of some of the things I've done...

TOPPS trading cards
TOMY toys
Burger King and McD's kids toys
Prerelease passes
Booster packs
PCDs
Video games
Deckboxes
Sleeves

And I'm not terribly creative in the stuff I decide to give away. I'm certain others have far more interesting giveaway ideas than I do.

Do you mind if I can have a picture. I am very interested in how they did it and what it looks like.

The etching was done by Apple, its something they offer buisnesses to give stuff to there employees. I had a friend working at Apple at the time that was able to get me in it so I could have these made. They changed there program a few years ago, it use to be you could have one or 2 made, now they require a minimum of 25. The Pokemon Company will no longer provide permission to get these done as the ipod has become a gaming divice and is a competitor of Nintendo. So these are not even an option anymore.

They were all ipod nano's. There were 4 1GB Black ones made, 2 1GB White ones made, and 4 2nd Gen Silver 2GB ones made. I will have to go back thru and see what events we handed them out at. But it was back in 2006/2007 when we did these. I still have a couple of them, but don't use them so I woul have to look to see what they are. I know one of the white ones I had given to Vince for the piglet draft at worlds. But not sure what I used the other white one for.

The pictures are of the black ones but they all had the same etching setup on them.

Here are the pictures Apple sent me when I had them done

What room are we in? (A, B, CD?) (I know it's upstairs, but...)

We are in Calhoun Ballroom. When looking at the front of the building go in the far right doors, up the excalator and to the left, its the largest conference room up there. If you are in the Hilton, go to the second floor and go into the Grand Wayne Center from there and the room is right thru the doors.

For those wondering, we are set up for 388. With Montreal and Wisconsin running that day I don't think this will be much of a problem. Dice are still only for first 200 players. With being the only regional in the region back in November and having many travelers from Wisconsin and Illinois then and only getting 324 I don't see this as a problem at all.

Troll and Toad will be set up to sell singles, Fantasy Games out of South Bend will have packs, dice and other items. The Gril Scouts will be set up selling cookies till they run out for those interested in snacks. Mcdonalds, Burger King, Wendy's Taco Bell, King Gyros, Arby's, Starbucks all within a block or 2.

^Does it connect to the Marriot in any decent way?

@Below, the Hilton is the same building, but the Marriot is across the street.... Wondering if anybody knows if there is a skywalk.

This is the first time you are allowing girl scouts isn't it? Sounds a little odd but okay. Maybe J-wittz will be there. :)

The girl scouts will be there selling cookies. This way nobody can complain they are hungry. That and I want some cookies and don't get to leave the venue during lunch...

Courtyard Marriott is hooked to the grand wayne via skywalk. Go to second floor of courtyard and you have to go across to I think it's a theatre then to the grand wayne. Skywalk gets out right outside the conference room.

FYI rooms are going quick in the area due to a 10k down the road at the large park and the FAME music festival downstairs at the Grand Wayne

Edited above post. We now have room for 388 if needed. Should be an interesting weekend. Vendors should be ready to sell around 8am as long as they are left alone while setting up.

Well, this is it! Tomorrow is the big day. I'm going to be there, and I can see this tournament being quite the excitement.:thumb:

Anybody who would like specific updates should post what they want, otherwise I'll post at most interesting tidbits.
