Is the Elite Trainer Box out yet?

Meh, i liked his reference. Its the real world people, stuff like that happens all around. get over it.

It's the real world. Space shuffles don't blow up "all around." Not sure what point you're trying to make, but get over yourself.

It's clear by Vince's reaction ("As someone who lived through this disaster...") that the Challenger disaster hit close to home for him. You have no need to rub more salt into the wound, even if the actual event happened in 1986.

It would be similar to making light of slavery, the holocaust, the death of Kennedy, or 911. It's simply poor taste, a sin I have been guilty of many times in my youth.

I bought one from my local Target, and I'm loving the "fat pack" idea for Pokemon. This product is lacking, however, and I won't buy another if they don't add some value to it for the consumer. The deck box is a joke. It won't fit a sleeved deck, and mine was pretty thoroughly wrecked. The acrylic markers are mediocre, and have poor quality control. The dice are wonderful, and the storage box is useful. 8 packs would be great, as it is $35. It just needs something more.

I'd like to point out that the WoW card game does this with every set, and that comes with a PVC deck box, promo holo cards, and a playmat for $5 more. It has one pack less, but with the rest of those bonuses, it's well worth it. I think Pokemon would be on the right track to include a nicer Deck Box and maybe a set of sleeves.

This product would be perfect, in my opinion, if it were more like: 6 packs, Plastic Deck Box, 62 sleeves, 1 promo card. And alternate every few sets to switch the deck box or sleeves out for the dice and poison/burn markers or some other goodie. Sleeves are an important ingredient that TPCi seems to be ignoring, at least for organized play, and this would be a good opportunity to re-introduce them to the community. As it stands, this misses the mark, even if just barely. It's certainly better than some of the previous promo sets Pokemon has attempted, and I hope they build on it!

tl;dr: Could be better, but it's a good step in the right direction.

The deck box does fit 60 sleeved cards in UP, DS, and Professor sleeves. It's still not great, but it still works.

Busting at the seams maybe, but certainly not comfortably. Either way, it's still made of cheap cardstock that won't stand up against any abuse. Every one I've seen opened also had the deck box damaged from shipping.

Is it me or is everybody I know getting good pulls out of these ETBs? If Pokemon guaranteed a ultra rare in each ETB, I can see this making them a lot of money.

You can easily market these to the people who can't afford or don't see justifying spending $90 on a booster box. Your not taking sales away from the booster boxes.

You can also use these for preleases. You take away the production of deck boxes that you only give away at prereleases because of the deck box in the ETB. Ofcourse, they should redesign them a little. Throw in a playable promo (I.e Altaria was a very good promo. Not sure why plasma Klinklang wasn't a promo since Pokemon doesn't get anything from secondary markets) and guaranties a ultra rare will increase attendance.

Not all of us pulled well from the boxes. I didn't get a single FA, EX, or Ace spec from mine. I was kind of disappointed.

Quick bits of testing...

1) old Shields -- Tight fit
2) New-ish Shields -- Easy, but not loose, fit
3) DP1 Lucario -- Easy, but not loose
4) Old UP -- Tight fit
5) Old UP -- tight fit
6) New-ish Shields, no Holos -- Slides right in.

Basically, the box feels the same size as the Prerelease box, just with a different orientation.

Definitely useful for a new player, you get a pretty decent setup of other usual staples for playing and some packs...given packs are about $4, that's $28 there in packs, and you're paying $7 for the rest, so a pretty good deal.

I guess my question is, the Energy...any sort of special branding on them, or are they just plain old vanilla Energy cards? And the dice, just normal dice or is there anything special about them?
Nothing special about the Energy, but the Dice are cool, having Plasma Storm's Set Symbol instead of the number one.
Out of my ETB I got a Weezing holo. I got rev Hypnotoxic Laser so it was all better.

Which in my experience, is too small for a standard deck. I might be picky, but I don't see many players using the pre-release deck boxes either. I can't even give them away at league.

I did get an Ace Spec...Victini. meh.

Dang, when I was starting out I would have TOTALLY sucked those up! I like the deck boxes, but I don't sue them anymore because the "lid" ends up cracking and breaking off down the seam.

If these become a regular product, I'd also like to see other cards in place of energy sometimes, as not to overload us with them. Maybe in the future they could use these to keep trainer cards in rotation, instead of clogging up new sets with reprints (I'm looking at you, Boundaries Crossed).

out of about 9 or so at our store, Each person has pulled a reg ex. However, I got an ETB with FA Articuno/Dowsing/V-piece. So They seem alright.

We like the collector box. Younger son was excited to fit three deck boxes along with his dice box (he likes to have "fun" decks to play as well as his "real" deck).

Like others, I just tossed the deck box. The flap to close the box just annoys me. :D

I think I pulled Black Kyurem EX (plasma) from my 7 packs; younger son pulled Articuno EX and FA Colress from his 7 packs.

Since most of the boxes have been coming out with 6 Ultra Rares in a box, 1/6 packs it seems to be a UR. 7 packs in the box set, the odds are in our favor to get one. Just cross your fingers its not a Victory Piece...

EDIT:

Just bought my box. Dowsing Machine, Scramble Switch, and FA Colress.
