Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Join Virginia's Diamond/Pearl Weekend!! May 19 and 20

$25 for a prerelease seems extremely unreasonable to me.
*faints*

I will reserve judgment until after the promotional item is known. I'm putting a lot of stock into it, which is why I wish it wasn't so much of a secret. If it is really great, it could silence a lot of the "$25 is too much!" That there is a need for secrecy worries me.

But for this tournament, consider it a matter of store loyalty over cost. You like playing in a location, you support that location. If Mom-and-Pop where you play in tournaments are selling for 20 cents more, you buy from them and not from Big-Superstore. After this tournament, maybe the PTOs can relay POP our dissatisfaction. As posted in another thread, $25 is the minimum price mandated by POP, so there isn't anything the PTOs can do about it at this time. But you being there pulls a lot more weight in communicating that dissatisfaction, while at the same time not negatively impacting future events, than if you're not there.

Well, now that the secret is out (thanks, btw  ) I can verify that the promo item is in fact, uber sweet, and a great, usable promo item. Given the retail price of comparable items, we should be back into the "good deal" category!!--definitely we're out of "extremely unreasonalble" now! Way to go, POP!! :thumb:

yeah. slops to whoever said anything about it! My family said I might be able to go to one so it'll probably be the closest.

Lucario sleeves, eh?

Don't feel so bad about the leak, Totoro. I hadn't yet printed out more flyers, so I can include the news on them  .

I'm also hearing reports that the extra card is an uncommon card, not a basic energy card.

Anyone notice the flavor text on the cards has better vocabulary than when the flavor text was dropped in R/S?

Spoke with store owner Frank last night at league. He has agreed to take preregistrations for the Richmond (Midlothian) event. If you plan on coming, please contact the store at (804) 594-2845 and get signed up. Players NOT in the store at 11:30 will be removed from the prereg list in case we have standbys. Hope everyone understands; these sleeves are driving the young-uns nuts!!!!

Hey, guys n gals--depending on main event attendance/product availability, who'd be interested in doing a ROCHESTER Draft side event in Fairfax?? ($20/6 packs + extras for top finishers) We did this at SE regionals and it was a lot of fun. Great way to pick up some xtra basic dark or metals!!! Who's interested????

Normally, I would request off from work on tournament days, but I'm new and I want to request off for Battle Road instead. So, I have to leave on Saturday at 4:15 at latest. I'm betting on the prerelease being over by 4. You guys are welcomed to stay though. I'll check with the store if the Warhammer people are coming in or not. They only use 4 tables anyway, so they'll be enough room for both events if they do show up.

^I won't be there to pay for you this time (although it did get me some nice cards)

lol. we didn't pay for that one cuz it was power keepers. we have two boxes of that that we didn't open.. so yeah.. we don't need any of those cards. but DP? wdk how we're gonna get the cards.. except for borrowing and trading.. so yeah.

It's almost 100% chance I'll be at the Richmand one.

Do you know how long it will take? I might need to leave by 3:00...

3:00 might be cutting it a bit early. We'll prob be done by 4:00.

This just in! Richmond Comix store owner Frank will be selling ALL booster packs except for Dragon Frontiers and Power Keepers at the unbelievable price of $1.75 during the prerelease. Wow!

Remember to join us at Hobby Works for this Prerelease! It'll most likely the last event there for the summer.

...ALL booster packs except for Dragon Frontiers and Power Keepers at the unbelievable price of $1.75 during the prerelease. Wow!
awwwohhhh...... *falls out of chair*. This will require more thinking on my part.

Wow!!

Unbelievable turnout--a new record prerelease for Virginia. I'll double check my numbers, but I think we hit 64 before some drops!

34 alone in the junior division!! (That's 6 rounds of Swiss....for a prerelease??!!!!!!!) I"ll post the actual "official" numbers tomorrow after the Richmond event.

oh wow... thats crazy... :O sorry we couldn't come. jonathan fell asleep when i woke up which was at about 8 so.. yeah.. he wasn't up and running. ;\

I thought it was 63, but I'm not sure. It's all a blurr. 6 rounds of Juniors - has that been done before?

Spectacular attendance. Not enough booster packs for an after-event. Totoro is never going to get his Rochester Draft up here in NoVA  . One of the parents commented to me that this was the most people she's seen at one VA event (she wasn't at States).

Props:
The Tuskeys!
Judging crew - Leah and Javier.
Those who helped set-up and break down the event, especially Butch, Bret, and Mr. Bell.
Hobby Works for hosting.
The Karate Experts for assisting.

Slops:
Misunderstood intentions
Me, for forgetting the Battle Road flyers

Sorry I had to bail before the end of the event. I got to work with a few minutes to spare. Unfortunately, I cannot be at Midlothian. The boss [DEL]is really working me[/DEL] really needs me. And, I have to be around here anyway.

See you all at Woodbridge next week!

Your undefeated Champ is in the house!

lol

That's the first time I've won anything since a TRR Prerelease in Canada.

I think I did well though. I'm pleased with my playing, as I went 6-0 on the day.

I loved the Booster Draft. I wish we had time to play more rounds...

Drafting a 7-4 Rhyhorn-Rhydon line was hilarious.
