Let's speculate about the rotation

Platinum on seems the most balanced, just to have a hard counter to gengar prime. The entire format slows without uxie and SP decks are weakened with the lack of cheap 70 hp prizes flooding the bench so you can pick them off. Stage 2's get better because fast decks don't have the insane draw power they had in this format. I thought about how much better RR-on would be, but with easy draw cards gone like uxie and claydol, the decks everyone already hates now get worse when they can only rely on a few communicators and their one supporter.

If the past four years are any indication, the announcement should be made either tomorrow or Monday. I can't wait to reorganize my cards!

Then again, they've been late with basically every major announcement thus far this year compared to previous years. As long as I get the info before Nationals, I'm kool.

Here's hoping to quick news. I think they'll leave more sets in the format than people think. Here's to GE-on!

Major point: Felicity's league promo. NO POINT doing that if it can only be used for what, a month? after you get it. I understand there have been dead weight cards before, like a certain Persian, but it didn't come out right before rotation. I would like to think well enough of whoever decides on the promos (Is it TPCi?) that they would have had better foresight than that.
Second point: Last rotation (DP-on) also left in more sets than people thought, and I recall reading somewhere that TPCi was happy to have a more versatile format since so many options were open. If they were happy with a big format last time, it makes no sense to pare it back down to what it was.

Also, in my mind there is not even the tiniest smidgeon of a chance of HGSS-on. I admit it would be fun. There would be a LOT of mirror matches, because there would only be a few viable decks. But leaving in TWO sets (three come Fall) would be so destructive to the play style it wouldn't be worth it. Playing out of the same 200-300 cards would be so limited it would suck out all the joy. You'd never see a card you weren't familiar with. New combinations would be gone. There would be so little room for creativity. Here's to that never, never happening.

I disagree about Felicity's Drawing. League play isn't restricted to the Modified format, so that card will be usable regardless of the rotation. Therefore I don't read anything into it. There is indeed a suggestion that there will be more sets in the format than we expect.

bullados, yes other announcements have been slow to come, but I suspect this decision has been made over a year ago, and the time delta between the rotation announcement and Nationals tournament has been constant, so I still would expect the news by Monday.

League Play varies league to league. What I mean is that some leagues only allow modified play. My league is open play - as long as you inform your opponent before hand (most really don't mind).

The announcement should go live really soon, but some folks here have already guessed correctly. :thumb:

*is excited* I look forward to seeing how much of my trade binder plummets even more in terms of values....XD

Alright time to see what I should hurry up and sell before the price goes down... Unless they go to... Base-Base 2 and HGSS on!

wait it's being announced today?
omg, im actually really excited. im so sick of this format. it's just way too fast. Uxie and Claydol BOTH better leave.

yeah im waiting for my trade book to tank and im waiting to buy anymore cards.. once it's announced i wll buy a box or two

I dunno, it'd be really interesting to have Uxie and Hunter in the format together. Drop it, draw 7, use a bunch, and then turn right around and essentially SSU it to draw again. Not to mention thinning your opponent's bench.
