Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Library of Competitive Decks: DP-UL *Updated with new sets and set abbreviation key!*

Hi everybody,

I'm sorry about the lack of updates for...er...a couple months, but the new Library should be up fairly soon.

Thanks,

LL *wink*

Just because you've played the deck doesn't other players need to know about it. There a lot of decks on your list that I've never considered to be good for even fun play. Venusaur/Dialga and Wigglytuff/Darkrai? I can't even think of a time I've seen those cards outside a binder. Seriously, people want to know what they may play against, not failed ideas that probably 0-X'ed Nats if they were played there. Either completely revamp it and when you update it for this format, only include good decks (even if this was last season, why do you not have Magmortar/Leafeon or Empoleon MD/Bronzong? And why are Empoleon DP, Electivire, and other old decks up there?), or this is very undeserving of being stickied IMO.

Ask an experienced player to fix your lines too. A lot of them are just...no. Or just outdated (*coughGardycough*)

Sorry for the harshness, but this is just a terrible attempt to inform people of the metagame. Or even if this is a "library of decks", a lot of them I wouldn't consider actual decks, or at least ones I've ever needed to be aware of.

Shiftrymaster68: I agree with you about the lines, but this is supposed to be a Library with every deck in the format, even if the decks I put up were a bit out of date towards the end of the last format. I don't mind critisism, but the new Library will be much better. I've been working on it every day for the last 5 days to get it done.

Alright, just making sure. Also, just make sure you're only going over decks that are expected. If you are going to do the decks that are almost never seen, make sure people realize that you see them maybe once every few tournaments, whereas decks like AMU and Kingdra can be expected at every tournament.

Also, make sure that you're getting the best lines when you post them up there, or at least close.

One of the reasons the new library is taking so long is because I'm doing deck lists instead of pokemon lines and I'm consulting with people and play-testing every one of them. Hopefully this will help more inexperienced players more than pokemon lines.

LLugia,

You could consider making your life easier and this resource timelier with these recommendations:

1.) Limit the number of spots on your list to 10. After the top 10 you begin to get into red face paint territory. Let the thread discussion influence what is on the list. People posting shouldn't suggest an addition without also suggesting a deletion and providing reasons for both.

2.) Once the "What Won XXX" results start getting reported, update the list accordingly.

3.) Do not try to provide complete deck lists. That's a job for the deck help and strategy forum. Provide a pokemon line and a brief strategy.

4.) Do provide links to the most active threads for each archetype.

No matter what you do people are going to be critical. If you provide less to critisize I believe that the thread is more likely to stay on topic and provide value to the community. I don't think that this thread is just for the Noobs. The intermediate players need to have a short list of decks to play test against. These do not have to be the best lists in world. However, it is very helpful to acquaint yourself with the Pokes you're likely to meet at your next tournament.

What you are trying to do is great. But, like a sprinter, is there any chance that you will be able to keep up the pace for the long haul?

Good Luck & Thank you

P.S. You don't have to sacrifice any of your hard work you've done to adopt these recommendations. Just split the list details out and create seperate threads on the Deck Strategy Forum.

You totally forgot TurnCruel.

TurnCruel, while an interesting deck, did not finish first or second in any battle roads. See what won battle roads here:

SF hasn't changed anything for TurnCruel except provide more decks to beat it. Leave TurnCruel at league, where it belongs.

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

Perhaps the Gengar/Dusknoir combo should be considered for the list. This is one of the most active threads

http://pokegym.net/forums/showthread.php?t=84396

Gengar on it's own runs out of gas once the opponent start managing their hand. Dusknoir alone is a little slow. If anything I would say that the combo is the archtype and the straight lines are variants.

You forgot to have an example of what a future raichu list could look like!! o_O

Having Champ and not Chu = Fail. :p

Nice to see your being constructive. If you want to comment on the Library, could you actually tell me what I should do to make it better?

Sure. One thing I noticed is Farfetch'd is a starter WAY TOO OFTEN. Farfetch'd is so under used and there are a lot better starters out there(considering the even runs starters). Lumineon is sorta strange in Machamp, because they're not gonna bring it up unless they have to. Lumineon would only be good if you run Cyclone Energy.

Thanks. I will edit it tonight. I think the Farfetch'd overuse is biased (I use it in my deck). My Machamp deck doesn't run Lumineon, but it did when I first ran it. I will take out Lumineon.
