Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

List of 2013 States/Provincials

Generally Chuck usually gives a heads up for events like at least a week in advance for Iowa events. Last year was really unfortunate. The second prerelease was this weekend and I have not yet talked to anyone who may have attended. If I hear anything I will post it here if not found already.

Missouri is confirmed for the 2nd weekend, and I think the organizers of Kansas for putting up with my insanity!!

I can't wait to make more formal announcements, but we are going to have a GREAT time in these weeks!

Excellent, thanks! Do you have a website link with further info that I can put in the OP?

No link yet but I heard that from the people running it so it's very very likely. If I get a link I'll post it.

That is the stupidest idea ever!

NOBODY in the MD/VA area wants go have to drive FOUR HOURS to New Jersey because the MD PTO decided to interfere with the Delaware state date?

I am honestly super pissed off about that. Is it to late to change it, because I know that very few people, if anyone will be even slightly happy about that decision. I would like to talk to the PTO about it.

Wow, that comes off as really selfish, and doesn't take into account any other conflicts that the PTO may have had to deal with in making scheduling decisions. There are a LOT of little bitty states up in that neck of the woods that could not be completely coordinated despite best efforts.

And, frankly, most of rest of the country is scoffing at you complaining about having to drive *gasp* 3 hours to get to a State.

For EVERY other area of the country EXCEPT for New England, 3 hours to the nearest state is the NORM if not LOW.

I do hope you talk to the PTO, and I hope the PTO gives you exactly what you deserve. A simple answer, if even that.

Boy, the sense of entitlement....

But why not simply make it easier for the players by making it a better date? (btw it actually takes four hours, checked mapquest. It's not that the drive is too long, it is that it is longer than it is supposed to be)

Please let this problem involve the people that actually have something to do with northeast pokemon, and not people from the midwest/west saying must be nice.

Lastly, concerning dates with other states, there are only 4 states total that really make a difference (as WV doesn't have one). Maryland, Delaware, Penn, and Virginia. They are the ones that affect those in the DelMarVa area.

Do you REALLY want Mike, Dorian, and myself to go over EVERY logistical hurdle involved with booking a states venue date with you? I'm conflicting with Jeff in NC on my date. Not my fault, not his fault. These things involve VENUE availability first and foremost. Some PTOs have (gasp) commitments on certain weekends, too, so those dates must be blocked out. FYI, it took a decent amount of WORK to avoid a direct conflict with VA and MD too. But neither Mike nor I wanted that, because we wanted our players to be able to play in at least our 2 states. So we worked this out and will be able to be on staff for each other's events. OMG, I have nearly a three hour drive to his event. Guess I should bail.

Seriously, Vince has nailed this. Your entitlement mentality does not become you. Perhaps we should just return to a single Saturday for all states. You'd LOVE that, right?

I would not care if States was a single Saturday, honestly. It would make planning much easier.

While I still disagree, I appreciate the response.

Frankly, your attitude mirrors the entitlement that a lot of players have with these events when they don't work perfectly for your schedule.

Are you taking into account the schedules north or south of those states and the coordination?

You have to realize....don't tell me not to have an opinion about an issue. If you have seen me post at ALL you know that is not the way to go.

Glaceon, I don't speak for the organizers or the events, but please appreciate that Virginia is very affected by more than the three states you mention.

Is that an anacoluthon? Oh Vince, say that it is!

Glaceon: For VA players it is worse. I would have to drive 6 hours to NJ to attend. I'm grateful though that VA and MD are not on the same day. You can't always get what you want, because the perfect world can never exist. Too many problems arise when you try to be perfect. Instead of complaining, you should either be looking for a way to NJ or focusing more on what you can get to in VA and MD states. The PTOs do so much for us, as players, already by even holding these events.

With Alberta being week 2, Calgary players get to drive 3 hours to get to our Provincial.

Week 1, Calgary players get to drive 15 hours and Edmonton players 18 hours to the next closest (Idaho or Oregon, it's basically a sawoff).
Week 3, all of the Alberta players get to drive 12 hours to the next closest (BC).

Heck, we have some Saskatchewan players who come to our Provincial (they don't have one). You can add on another 5-7 hours to all of those times for them.

As usual, it is physically impossible for me to have any sympathy whatsoever for anybody anywhere (in states with a tournament, at the very least) who complains about how far away events are from them.
