Hi fellows,
I thought about posting my latest deck to the gym. The list is a very rough draft, and it went basically untested to Stockholm states, but it still won there. So diss the list or whatever, I know it's not very fine-tuned, but at least the idea is usable and surprising and counters current G.decks pretty well. It's an all-basic deck, so in before epic Mewtwo mirrors.
Pokémon (23):
2-2 Palkia Lv.X (Palkia PT)
2-2 Cresselia Lv.X (Cresselia MD)
3-1 Uxie Lv.X
1-1 Mewtwo Lv.X
2 Houndoom G
2 Unown G
1 Pachirisu
1 Azelf
1 Spiritomb
1 Rotom MD
1 Mesprit
T/S/S (25):
4 Bebe's Search
4 Roseanne's Research
1 Felicity's Drawing
4 Super Scoop Up
3 Level Max
2 Warp Point
1 Premier Ball
1 Luxury Ball
1 Switch
1 Night Maintenance
2 Moonlight Stadium
1 Galactic's HQ
Energy (12):
5 Psychic Energy
4 Call Energy
2 Dark Energy
1 Warp Energy
Strategy:
Use Palkia to restructure stuff, and draw 2 prizes with Moon skip.
Ok, there are some deeper strategies. You can put a deadly LOCK for your opponent's Uxies, Azelfs, Mesprits, Crobat Gs, Spiritombs, Skuntanks, Claydols and other power oriented supports. Houndoom's first attack, Black cry, prevents the retreat and powers from your opponent's pokémon. With psychic resistance and Unown G, there's a lot of things Houndoom can lock in in the current format. Even Unown G if it's not used correctly. This deck can basically capitalize on every useless pokémon in your bench, even that clever tech Pachirisu. Just move damage off with Cresselia and lock as long as you like.
What's that? You won't play those pokémons to bench against this deck? Ok, then you're down with supporter draw. Cresselia Lv.X powers soften up your pokémon while Palkia stalls, and finally Moon Skip starts drawing dual prizes. In the most decks there is also a risk that you will not start with your main attacker, thus risking the lockdown. You'll put down Unown G? Pachi will OHKO crobats and hit everything else considerably as well.
For G.deck, we have all-needed Mewtwo Lv.X techs. That card utterly destroys every G.deck without Dialga G, and even with Dialga G Lv.X, you have Houndooms to take care of them. Or just take them out with Giga Burn, the resistances won't matter that much if you move all the deafen damage out with Cresselias. You can also stop the deafen lock by getting out Palkia Lv.X and restructuring several times. At least that'll burn their resources before you start drawing prizes on damaged pokémons.
Now, as the idea is decent and fit for the meta, the list needs some work. So I decided to share with the community. There are some directions this could be moved towards:
- G-oriented lock (Power spray their Unown Gs and lock them down with Houndoom)
- Main attacker with locking capabilities (for example, Tyranitar)
- Lock with techs (more focus to locking, techs for anti-locks)
...or just getting the trainer lines straight. 1 Felicity was way too little for draw in current environment, even though I could usually lock until I had drawn everything I needed.
Pls help =)
