LostGar Hype Discussion - IN HERE ONLY

I've playtested some of the lists in this thread and I have noticed that bad starts are really really hard to get out of because of the emphasis of a lot of lists with cards that are useless early game (here's looking at you vs seeker, seeker, and twins). Plus, if you ever get Azelf+crucial deck piece prized then you're in a world of catch-up, much so that other decks in which Azelf/Crucial deck components are prized cause you'll be taking very few in your games.

With that said, with any semi-decent start=cruise control to auto-win practically against a lot of top decks. Deck is really really good against everything not Dark/Dialga.

I notice there aren't any of the general card-drawing supporters (no PONT, Looker, etc.). So you rely totally on Uxie/Seeker for general card-drawing, with no way to just get a whole new hand? Does that really work OK?

Twins is a great card. VS Seeker makes it great too.

Uxie/Seeker is an option, as you have suggested.

Basically when the 1st Gengar Prime is online, it can "tank" for a while given a steady flow of Seekers and a spare line of Gastly/Haunter to Seek into. Whiff, and go for tomb and twins to maintain momentum. Get Uxie/Seekers in your spare time if Gengar is in no trouble. A mix of "any 2" search and some drawing, with a steady "prize" stream, and you will realize additional draw isn't really needed. One energy for a "prize", 2 for two, 130 hp tank, quick heal, you're rolling with just one stage 2 with few energies and supporters. It's quite elementary.

Gengar Prime aims to end the game quickly, so no enduring engine is required. It likes to get Judged, because it uses up most of its resources quickly.

However, in light of this, I noticed a great problem with the Sablelock matchup. Initiative is many times worse than judge, and this is precisely due to lack of draw, and more of search. That fine start you had that will quickly get you Gengar Prime? Flung away because of one heads and your Collector gets sent back. Gengar Prime finally online? Awesome, now meet Honchkrow SV. You can't maintain the hurling, 130 hp Gengar Prime is no longer a tank. So I'm working on that. Whenever I playtest against Sablelock nowadays, I would reach out for Mew Prime and weather the impersonates while i try to get a lead in "prizes", letting the OHKOs be prize exchange than fatal encounters.

Good point you have brought out here.

LOSTGAR! LOSTGAR!

Gengar was a ghost!
I mean, he was a poison/ghost!
Er, maybe he was just a ghost type, but he was still

LOSTGAR! LOSTGAR!

Lost zonin' all the luxrays
Lost zonin' all magikarps
Lost zonin' all the machamps
And their players call in rage!
players call in rage!

Oh, awesome! Wicked flaming wars!
Its like Lostgar versus Luxchomp over here!
Go Lostgar! Go Lostgar! Lostgar wins!

When the game is left in ruins
And lost zonin' has forsaken the metagame
Only one deck will remain, and my money is on

LOSTGAR! LOSTGAR! AND THEN LOSTGAR COMES IN THE NIGHT!

I am hereby apologizing to all Homestar Runner fans, but this just popped into my head and it felt so fitting.

Epic Win, seriously.

The only thing stopping LostGar sweeping everything since the Big Bang is the time rule.

I've been trying but i can't consistently beat anything....
It seems like almost everything at best is 50-50. I just can't get it quick enough.

I have the best name for this deck: Gengar World

It's fun, and does away with the some of the portmanteaus that have been plaguing deck-naming conventions for years.

I have built one that consistently CRIPPLES Gyarados.(I have actually won by taking prizes before just for lolz)

Against LuxChomp, though, it's more of a challenge. It wins about 60% of the time by a good bit, but the other times it comes down to the last prize vs. last pokemon in LZ. In those games it comes down to who can think far enough ahead to plan out their moves to eek out a W.

I played a WC Gardevoir deck for a few games (I realize several of those cards are banned now) and absolutely destroyed it.(In game 2 my opponent took their first prize the turn before I dropped Lost World)

^ Did you play against a standard, cities LC, or a newer one with more sp radars/junk arms and a weavile g? Cuz a belted weavile g basically wins you the game in my testing.

So far all of my testing with this deck I have found that the Mew is too weak and gives them a prize advantage too quickly, I've also had a lot of trouble with trainer lock decks, especially evolving my Gengar, I guess this is the time to reach for the Mew. I also think that a 1-1 Palkia X line helps a lot for the players that load their bench.
