Wow, that's actually pretty cool how it would fit into the level 50 category, but I guess you wouldn't even be able to EV train it because you can't level it up to actualy get the results.

Youcan still EV' train it but, when you finish with the EV training, just put it in your box and it will change the stats accordingly to the EVs.

From the Statement from the Official Web Site above, saying that it is able to enter Official Tournaments, giving a good indication that we very well may see Showdown 2009.
This is a good day for Showdown Tournament Attendees.

Showdown 09 was all but confirmed already, since the Japanese are also attending it. I just hope they have more qualifiers for us this time...seriously, having them only in NY or LA is just stupid.

On topic, Dragonite was always sort of cool (Superpower in Platinum makes him better), so it's nice to get him. All we need is T-tar next.

This would be really cool, if it wasnt Dragonite. Dragon Type is kinda... lame.... most are x4 weak to Ice, and any special sweeper worth his beans has Ice Beam for the many Rayquazas >.<

Ever hear of Yache Berry? Works wonders.

That aside, Rayquaza is illegal to use for Showdown tourneys anyways. To be fair, the winning teams last year used no dragons either, but that was more because they aren't well-suited for doubles.

The article says "Dragonite comes equipped with an amazing arsenal of moves, some of which normally can't be learned until after Level 50!"

This is false, as Wing attack is Dragonite's only attack that it can't learn until above L50!

And why not a L49 Dragonite? That would be awesome.

Actually, there are 4 moves that Dragonite cannot learn via level up until past 50:

Dragon Dance (learned at Lv 53)
Wing Attack (learned at Lv 55)
Outrage (learned at Lv 64)
Hyper Beam (learned at Lv 73)

Now, from a competitive standpoint, Hyper Beam and Wing Attack don't offer much, but if he has at least Dragon Dance and Outrage, it'll be awesome.

Via level up from Dratini and breeding, you can get Dragon Dance earlier, possibly Outrage also (and of course, Hyper Beam via TM), but still, Dragonair doesn't evolve into Dragonite until Lv 55 :p

The Box Trick still works? I thought they fixed that this time around?

Dragonite at level 50, it will be able to enter official tournaments that are limited to Level 50 Pokémon

Uh ... wasn't Dragonite banned for the VGS?

This is of course a very cool download anyway, though. :D
