Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Maryland States March 20th

Seniors: Jimmy P takes first after defeating Patrick M in top 4 and Jimmy M in top 2.
This makes me sad... :frown:
Masters: Arron S takes first after defeating Javier S in top 4 and Mike P in top 2
And this makes me happy.

Congrats to Jimmy and Jimmy for 1st and second.
Congrats to Arron on the win! Arron's so good at this game!  :thumb:

States tommorow for me... Wish me luck!

Didn't you make an announcement?

Juniors: Tommy B
Seniors: Jimmy P takes first after defeating Patrick M in top 4 and Jimmy M in top 2.
Masters: Arron S takes first after defeating Javier S in top 4 and Mike P in top 2

Carter C. was second in Juniors.

Ugh...so close. I crumbled under pressure lol

 I lost some cards. Did anyone happen to find them?

I believe that Arron's match record over the 2 weekends of states was something like 19-1. So, yeah, sorry, DP, but that trumps a single 9-0 day in my book.
Can't wait to see it all go down at Regionals!!!!!

I went 9-1(3rd Place) at Va and 9-0 at MD(1st Place) so that is 18-1 over 2 states.

Congrats to Tommy B. for winning and the Jimmys for being the seniors top 2. Also huge congrats to my dad for making top 4.

I think I left my dice up there. I had left a little before 8:00. They were the 36 chessex Jade with Gold dice. They had a pink slip of paper in them. If found please PM me. Also I can't seem to find the TO's phone number on pokemon.com.

The last time I remeber seeing them was when I was in the back with the group hanging out. I'll keep searching though. Maybe someone picked them up by accident. I hope to find them though. Other than the missing dice I had fun. The noodles were good as they always are.

I guess I'll try and contact the store and see if they might have found them, just in case.

Ol' Crobat flies away with glass

I know it's a couple of days later, but I have only just recovered from the shock of picking up my first piece of poke-glass this Saturday!

I had no plans to write a report, so I didn't take notes. I played Garde-Gallade and came in fourth. My record in Swiss was 5-1 and I was seeded 4th in a top cut of 8. Since I don't have notes, I will just include some of the memorable games in my props.

Game Props:
Luke R for keeping me humble by thrashing me round 3 after I got off to a great start. I misplayed mid game when I had the chance to keep rolling, and that was all Luke needed to come back. Luke played GG+techs. Good job on waiting for the right time to counterstrike Luke.

Tyler, round 4 opponent with a GGG deck. (Garde-Gallade-Gengar SF). Tough game that ended on time on my turn, I have to KO his SF Gengar with my Gallade and risk the flip. Heads we are tied and continue (I probably lose), tails, I am ahead on prizes and win......he flips...............tails!:thumb:Whew! Good game man.

Angelina W round 6. The winner would lock up a spot in the top 8. We had a hard fought battle that went down to one prize each left. She ran Dusknoir-Flygon. She never got a Flygon up and had to keep attacking with 'Noirs. She got my Garde Level X to within 30 hp of a ko with the 'Noir X out as a stadium. I had to win quickly. She used an inviting trap up my Uxie hoping I didn't have the energy to attach and retreat on my turn. Unfortunately for her, I just used teleportation on my Level X which had a DCE (and no other energy) on it, paid the retreat, and brought up my Gallade for the KO on the Trapinch. Great game Angelina.

Jacob L in top 8. He played Garde-Gallade. I rolled game 1, he rolled game 2. Game 3 I get a good start take some prizes and get a crucial ko on a belted Garde Lv X to take a solid lead. Time is called and I am ahead on prizes. Great match Jacob, you had a good run on Saturday. Hope to see you at regionals.

Slops:
The temperature at the venue during Swiss: Ugh, too much body heat with nothing to off set it. (Where was the AC?) I really think it was 100 degrees or more in there.

Tim F for starting off 3-0 with Exploud-Amphy but then losing the next 3 to end at 3-3. Tim, flip more tails!

Tim F for being Tim F.

And to end on the positive side, Props not related to my game
s:
Leah for being Leah
Josh for being Josh (sort of:tongue::thumb::tongue:)
Mike M the TO for a well run tournament. Big thanks and props.
David T the head judge and the judging staff keeping everyone honest. Thanks David!
Ryan in particular from the judging staff for judging my top 8 and top 4 matches. Thanks for a great job judging while keeping it fun.
Tommy B for winning Juniors, both at MD and VA. Way to go Tommy!
Jimmy P and Jimmy M for representing the Fairfax league in the Seniors top 2.
Nate with the top 4 run and beating Fly-Phan in the top 8
Mike P for being Mike P and congrats on coming in 2nd
And of course my son Arron with the 9-0 MD 1st place run, the 9-1 3rd place VA run, and two trophies for this season's states. Wow!:thumb::smile::thumb:

Special honorary props to Tim F

Tim's Fairfax, VA League is the home league for the winners in all three age divisions in MD on Sat. Thanks for running the league and providing a place were we can play both for fun and to hone our tournament skills.:thumb:

We did have the same record from round 3 to round 6 I think, and I somehow kept getting paired with someone else. I bet we will somehow end up playing at Nats...
