Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

MD regionals

People, if a deck is played at a public event, it is no longer secret. Just post what the person played. I'd post it for you, but I have to prepare for league. I hope Pokegym will enforce its rules on tournment reports on people who are intentionally trying to cover-up what their opponent's played.

You don't have to say "People." You can just say "Spencer." ;/

Tim, I didn't have to post decks for ANY of those people in T16. If I hadn't posted any decks, would that be "intentionally trying to cover-up" their deck choice? I don't see how omitting a few that could potentially anger other players if revealed makes my post worthy of criticism... But I guess I'll just edit that post to include the players' names and nothing else, since that will fix the problem? =/

Hmmm...it sounds like it was a very fun event. I would have been there but I had a lacrosse game. So, I half-heartedly went through the warm-up drills, then the other team didn't show up.:frown:

Congratulations to Spencer, Kevin, Stevie, Arron, Patrick, and Dean. GJ guys.

It really wasn't that much fun.

The rounds where WAY to long, and the whole tourney was a donk fest.

Losing graciously for the win.

Tanner - You still have my Tauros. Gonna be at Nats? If so, we'll just hook up there and you can give it back, I guess (unless something comes up and I need it before then).

Azure Kite, even when you type about me, you get it WRONG!!! I used Plox, not the evil known as magmortar.

Sorry man, my bad. I typed that late at night when I got home, so I wasn't thinking clearly. As I said in my post, I had to put up with being poked by The King Of Magikarps multiple times, the entire way home. Anyway, gratz to Patrick, Steven, Spencer, and all the other finalists! And DarthPika, it wasn't THAT much of a donkfest. I think your just upset with how you did.

Props
-Rainbow deck

At least it's better than "thingy". And thingy is better than Skittles. I think even Metal Fatigue is better than Skittles.

-I'm sure the Head Judge did something noteworthy

Yeah, like thinking Sneasel is Weavile and Riolu is Lucario.

The good:

>Winning a Darkrai tin, and drawing a Gallade in one of the packs.

That really makes me glad that I gave away that stuff:smile:. Congratulations on winning it, I guess. :thumb:

but the players did the MD/VA area proud (and NC too, since the Hills were there!).

You mentioned NC, so that isn't based on attendance, and MD, so it isn't based on placing, therefore I think WV ought to be mentioned also.

A big shout out to Mike L. for making the cross-country trip to MD. Don't know if the trip to MD was the long straw or the short straw of the "PUI visitation project" but I really appreciate that you guys do this to help the players put a "face" to PUI.

Same here.

Yeah, it was. Sorry you couldn't come. I had actually hoped you would be there and make T16.

:nonono:
If you or one of your brothers had won I'm sure luck would have been nonexistant.

Luke didn't make it, Bolt. Only 2 4-3s made it, Luke was not one of them.

UGH Magfest.

what players are elimiated in top 8? I need to know these in 5,6,7,8 for masters. thanks :D

Well, I had fun anyway. It was a little hot, but generally this event was not nearly as bad as I honestly expected it to be. So at least I was pleasantly surprised. Don't get me wrong...it wasn't super terrific either, but not nearly as bad as I thought.

Let's see...what do I remember? I was running a pretty simple Blissey deck. The basic idea was obvious...Blissey plus Holon FF and Unown G and a lot of energy. Generally it worked out pretty well, if only it were in better hands. Seriously, I lost at least one game I know full well I should have won. Oh well. I was just glad I managed a win against the one Gallade deck I ran into. That and playing against the poor guy with Arbok and Weezing but no Windstorms against my Unown G was fun. Luckily he was super nice and we both had fun with it. Great sportsmanship there!

The best battle of the day for me was against DarthPika. Another great game and we both had fun with it. He just seriously outplayed me. No problems there. In the hands of a better player, I'm sure my deck could have topped his, but it just goes to show it's more about the player than it is the deck. I made a couple newbie-style misplays, but he was thinking a few turns further ahead than I was and that's what really won it for him. Nice. Next time I'll wear a watch, though. He knew to the second when time was up. :)

Ugh, my dumbest move of the day was straight up telling my opponent once how he could make a couple moves and end the game against me. Duh! I'm not going to assume the other player has the same idea I do again... Keep...thoughts...in....head.

OK, that's it. All in all, I had fun. My son made top 8 in Juniors, despite being so hard on himself. Once he got his prizes (18 boosters!!!), he was all happy again, though.

The event was a lot smoother than I expected too. It was nice to finally meet and chat with a lot of players that I’d seen throughout the season. They were all nice guys and gals, which is what makes going to these events more bearable as a parent. In all my matches, everyone showed good sportsmanship with just the occasional unhappy comment now and again, which is to be expected.

It was nice making top8 and experiencing that aspect of the tournament scene. I did get some nice draws most the day, so I have to admit I had some luck on my side. Without a doubt though, the best part of the day was my son placing 2nd. I was very proud of him for staying with it for 11 hours. That’s tough on an 8-year old. All the juniors really held up well considering everything, and during the long breaks, it was nice to see them hanging out with one another, playing and chatting.

It was a fun event. The judging staff did a fine job making things run as smooth as I think possible given the small venue and general kinks.

Thanks,

Hey there - Jason, right? I was your unhappy opponent in Round 4. ;p Good game, though.

Congrats to you and your son on strong finishes! I'll edit you into the list of T8 finishers.

Thanks, SuperWooper! Congratulations to you as well!

My comment about having luck on my side applies much more to our match than the one about unhappy comments. You were really a good sport through the whole thing, even when I drew into that second Mag. Lv. X.

Just so you know there's no hard feelings about our T16 match. I dislike losing on time but I do know that you didn't work the clock or anything.

drmario - I didn't take that there were any hard feelings. My comment was really a general one so please take it as such. I understand no one likes losing. With that said, I really enjoyed our match and talking to you prior to it.

I don't like winning on time. In fact, I scooped our 2nd game to make sure we'd have more time for our next game. It just came down to time being called on my turn. It stinks to lose in that manner. To me, it's just a necessary evil of tournment play. There has to be a time limit.

Thanks,
