Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship - Philadelphia, PA- 6/4/05

If the NYC crew is going, (which they might be) then I'll be there.

Plus the attendance alone sounds like a fun time. : )

Does that mean I have to pay $20 though?... I didn't pre register... =/

I havent gotten any badge yet but the email says I should have.

You'd want to reply to the PTO, Dorian (who sent the email about pre-reg badges) to follow up!

Yes :frown: - it's just like going to Origins to play in Nationals - the tournament costs nothing to enter, but a con badge is required...

Is the Deck On Steroids or You (J/K) Cause You Are Rainbowy!! I just cant tell you could most likely pull of a Ho-oh Ex like attack if you were angry enough... LMAO...
But How Do you know what the heck it does???
I will try to play it either way and be very confused...
LOL...

^^^ I really wouldn't know, I've never been to Origins (and don't have a clue as to what it is either). Big tournament I'm guessing... : )

Here's a question:

How long d'you think the first 5 or 6 rounds (or however many there are before the top 16 are posted) will last? I really want to go to a regionals but I'm kinda tired of hearing my moms mouth about coming home late (if at all), lol. I'd at least like to stay for those rounds... probably wouldn't make the Top 16 cut anyways.

In case if I do Go, either a member of Team Deception or a member of Team Evolution will win the PA regionals. Just think of the possibilities.

Origins is a big convention with hundreds of tournament for dozens of games :)

The 1st round is scheduled to begin at 11:00 am. Each round is 30 minutes, plus about 5 for between-round tasks (new round pairings, mainly).

6 rounds, in a perfect world, will take 3-1/2 hours. There will likely be a lunch break during those rounds - say 60 minutes (for the sake of my example) - that brings us to 3:30 pm (11:00 + 3-1/2 hours + 1 hour) (again, barring ANY problems or unforseen circumstances!!!)

Realistically, 5 pm would be a better guesstimate. Think you can do that?!?!?

I am assuming you have not included the cut to top 16 (top 8, etc.), which can tack on an additional 3 hours, give or take. Then again, in the main posting for this tournament, I did not see a top cut, single elim mentioned, and your review of the tournament duration not including it either leads me to ask whether there will be a cut to the top %, or if due to time constraints, convention regulations, or simple PTO prefrence, there will be no top cut for this one.

Thanks,

Jake

Indeed, the previos post was just answering the question posed ("how long for round preior to Txx?")!

Here's more info that may have been overlooked!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
http://op.pokemon-tcg.com/events/faqs/2004-2005/regionals_faq.asp :
What is the Tournament Structure?
The Tournament is run using the Modified Format and Age Modified Swiss pairings. See the Tournament Rules for information about the Modified Format and Age Modified Swiss. The number of Swiss rounds run will depend on total attendance at the event.
After Swiss rounds are complete, there will be a cut to single-elimination finals. The number of players to qualify for the finals will be dependent upon the total attendance in each age bracket.
Single-elimination finals will be a best-of-three game format.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This will (I presume) have been the format used at all previous Regional Championshps!! :smile:

Thanks for asking!!!

Cheers....I assumed as much, but you never know; at the Raleigh city championship down here, we were all geared up for a top eight cut, only to have the store manager inform us just prior that we had to leave. Now I never take a tournament format for granted :)

NP! I'm happy to field any/all questions!

You would have been disappointed had you come to my last CC in Severn, MD - snowstorm had attendance at 15, and almost caused us to cancel (I was able to squeeze in 3 rounds and award prizes from Swiss standings!) :tongue:...

Yeah, 5 or 6 o'clock is pretty do-able... I'd say there's a 55% chance I'm going. I'll know for sure as it gets closer.

BTW, got your Meowth. LMK when you get my Pichu. ;)
