Nevada States Important Info
Hi all,
Sorry that I have been slumbering lately (at least on this list). PT&E has been very busy running lots of events these past two months.
Here are answers to some of the questions/comments that I posted to the CA States thread, which also apply here:
1. Preregistration is not being used because the event is FREE. We use Paypal to prereg. players, and Paypal charges $$$ for the service--thus, obviously, we do not want to pay $$$ out when the entry fee is FREE. Sorry about that, but this roll call on PokeGym will have to suffice for estimating how many players are coming.
2. As WieleMom and SD PokeMom have said, showing up early (at least 1/2 hour before the start time) and with a completed decklist will help immensely to have the tournament start on time. The decklist is available for download on my website at
www.ptegames.com on the event page for CA States.
3. This event will be run in age pods, thus no one will be playing outside their age group. We will run Swiss rounds (1 game matches) in each age group/pod, then cut to a Top 4, 8, or 16. The playoffs will be single elim., best 2 of 3 games -- usual time limits apply per POP floor rules.
4. The cut to a Top 4, 8, or 16 after the Swiss rounds depends upon the number of players in each pod: 8-16 = T4, 17-63 = T8, 64+ = T16 (the general rule-of-thumb is that the cut should represent about 25% of the field), thus Top 16 * 4 = 64 players (or 25% of 64 = 16).
5. The judges and staff for the event will be posted soon. All of us are excited and ready for a great event.
6. We will have side events: GBA head-to-head battles, booster drafts, constructed tournaments, and Team events. All side events have entry fees, except the GBA battles. Prizes will be awarded to the victors--full details on the website.
7. Lastly, thanks to all the Professors and Gym leaders for having such a successful City Championship season and for promoting attendance at States.
That's all for now. See ya in a couple weeks at Noon (sunny and not so early).
