The New England Pokemon Regionals will be held on November 12 and 13, 2011. This year, we're in beautiful Providence, RI at the amazing Providence Convention Center, which is attached to area hotels and the huge Providence Place Mall!

The address is:

Providence Convention Center
1 Sabin Street
Providence, RI

New England Regionals will be run by TJ Collectibles. For more information, please visit: http://www.tjcollect.com/article.php?id=498 or email [email protected]

The format for this year's Regionals is Modified Constructed. Registration opens at 9:00 AM with a prompt 9:45 AM start time. Day 1 will be the TCG regionals, and Day 2 will host the first ever Video Game Regionals!

The closest hotel to the convention center is the Westin hotel:
Westin Providence
One West Exchange Street
Providence, RI 02903
Phone: (401) 598-8000

There is no official 'room block' for this event. Competitors are encouraged to book their rooms now, as hotels in Providence fill up fast.

We hope to see you in Providence!

will top cut be on Saturday or stretch out into sunday.

The answer to your question definitely depends on attendance. The Junior Division is likely to finish through top cut on Saturday. Senior Division may or may not complete their tournament on day 1, but if there are very large numbers in attendance, it may be necesary to continue into day 2. The Master Division in New England has had very large turnout numbers at Battle Road tournaments. I suspect that will be the case at Regionals also. Again, depending on numbers in attendance, this may or may not extend to day 2. My suspicions are that it will continue top cut...all or in part into day 2. The last I spoke to Tom Shea he said that again, depending on attendance, and in order to keep players and staff fresh for the top cut, he will attempt to wrap up TCG play about 7 pm. on day 1....again, this all depends on turnout, and then extend whatever top cut rounds he has to, to day 2, if necessary. An announcement for numbers in attendance and rounds to be played and on which day will most likely be made early on day 1, once it has been determined and an estimate of time can be made. Hope this helps...It's always an unknow because we never know how many will attend.

I'll be there with my brother and family.

What's the general attendance on New England Regionals? I'm mainly a VGC player, but I'll be playing TCG too and wanted to know if I would be able to play through all of TCG, or if I'd have to potentially drop out of Day 2. (If I even make it that far!)

Anyway, I'm looking really forward to this. See you all there!

It's one of the lower in the country. I think last year it was near 100 give or take.

But expect it to be larger due to NE having spring regionals.

Is it looking possible for someone to play in both the tcg and vgc tournaments assuming they make top cut in the tcg? I don't know if you guys have worked out the timing to allow such things.

Thanks,
xic

^^ Where did you hear that???

Mike, the original text of the tjcollect.com Regionals information says registration is 9-9:45 and when I sent my reminder email out a couple weeks ago, that is what it said at that time. Dylan and I just noticed the small note of changed registration time a couple of days ago. I have sent an email directly to Tom to confirm with him, and asked him to send out an email to all tjcollect members as to this change. I have not received an email from him saying this is so.

Yes, it is official that registration has been changed to 8:00 am. An email just went out to the list. If anyone needs the email sent to them, feel free to PM me and I will forward a copy.

There will also be Friday pre-registration for the TCG and Open League from 5-8 pm.

If there are more questions, I will do my best to answer them here or via PM. You may also contact me directly at [email protected].

Jenn Anderson

How will Top Cut work for Seniors and Juniors? Will they be played on Sunday, or will it finish up on Saturday? In my past experiences, Juniors and Seniors have had six rounds with a Top 8, which allowed them to play through top cut without being too pressured by time. Is there any chance I could play through both TCG and VGC fully!

The intent will be to finish Juniors on Saturday (of course this will depend upon number of participants)

Same for Seniors (though if we have to finish top cut on Sunday, it'll be on Sunday).

Last time gaming supplies were available to buy. So maybe this time too (sorry can't give a definite answer).

On my way to rhode island now for vgc tomorrow. Didn't hav a place to stay Friday so I couldn't make tcg.

Friend is giving me updates. Round 6 reshiboar vs megazone both undefeated.
Alex frezza vs gino lombardi round 6 both 4-1. Frank diaz and frankie durso both 4-1 darrell moreno dylan lafavour both 3-2. Don't know what any of them are playing
