It's a TROPHY CARD. It's supposed to be a prettyful and collectible reward for placing at a BR. That's its point right there. It's not meant to enhance your deck with powerful new strategies.

The No. 1 Trainer card you get for winning Worlds isn't even playable in the TCG. I guess that's pointless as well?

yes, people will buy them for that price, prolly cuz Japan doesn't even have these cards and they do look pretty nice.
